Introducing stem separation in Traktor Pro 4 | Native Instruments

from what I saw in the comments you have to convert them one by one. thats a pain. I use a program that is able to batch convert for 24hours straight a huge collection with the possibility to convert to ALAC ( Lossless ) the problem is that they are not compatible with traktor for PC so we are left alone with 256kbps stem files who are sounding like trash down from high bitrate lossless files. I hope we can have some improvements on that soon.

Finally started using stems on the S8. I remapped the filter selector to the midi effect buttons. And the doubled the send fx to the midi knobs. So i just switch between the midi page and the effect page.

@@NativeInstruments I'm using a Mac with the most recent operating system. I have been using this OS for at least 2 years playing live events without any issue. With T4 though I've already had a handful of small little issues, including the entire T4 to shut down when I try to create a STEM file and load it into a deck. I have been successful once and it was glorious, but still a handful of things that just don't work like they should in T4 using the S8.

@@NativeInstruments I have been using this with my S8, but I have a critical issue when it comes to stem generating (which is why I bought the upgrade). After I generate a stem, it won't generate it so I'll try to reload it and when I do the whole program crashes, which would be a nightmare for live mixing. I'll reach out to the support team.

I wonder : are the generated actual .wav files or information for the Traktor’s audio engine to filter the right frequencies detected during analysis ? If it’s the 1st scenario (full .wav files), then I am a bit concerned of how much space this would take in the disk. Maybe an option to do it real time or during track loading would be better for casual mixing. The fact it is highlighted w can choose the target folder for the stem files hints me at this being the 1st scenario.This workflow with full separate wav extracts is more suitable for a prepared set.

I would like to know that too. I currently use NUO STEMS (on subscription) and it has the option to do them as MP3. I was actually thinking of buying NUO STEMS outright in afew days, but now I'll hold off as it is well integrated into Traktor it seems.

​@@NativeInstruments,What will be fixed because this is a big mistake they made, maybe my comment will be understood correctly, because I don't know English well, so they made a real-time stem function - Stems in traktor pro 4, then right mouse button - click track in the collection and select generate stems , there and it will analyze that track again, learn that track and prepare it to split it into 4 tracks - stems, vocals, bass, melody, drums. And here they made a serious mistake, this sign is in front of the track name, that this track is already divided into 4 tracks, then you should load it into the stem deck, not the track deck, the track deck is a normal deck into which you load tracks , and the stem deck is the deck you upload the stems files to. Traktor considers such tracks with such an sign in the collection as a stems file, and not as a normal mp3 track, it stores this preparation with such sign an in the collection until such a track with such an sign is loaded into a normal deck. But there's still the problem that a normal deck is visually indistinguishable from a stem deck, that a person can get confused about the deck option, that you still need to control whether you always have the stem deck option set. If you keep loading the deck into the stem, nothing will be lost, because the normal deck does not support such tracks with such an sign , and therefore such an sign disappears from this track.

Awesome game changing features! I don't see anyone address this issue: let's assume that i want all of my tracks be stem separated by default(Like the analyze we do so the tracks can load asap),i need to click each one to be separated and doesn't give me the option to make a whole folder or tracks alltogether only one by one.with that missing feature it become useless, cause no one will be bother when live mixing to render the selected audio into stems(tested it and takes some time) wait till it finished and then load into a separate mixer track, it is a full unnecessary extra step process(with all the respect)*Current Version Using: 4.10.146* Hope on the next update this problem will be solved.

The option to generate stems does not appear EVEN when right clicking tracks from "all tracks" or from a collection playlist! Please fix as we are currently unable to use the new stem separation feature. The only exception are the demo tracks already in the collection at first start. In case it helps: we are trying to seoarate stems for tracks imported via beatport (but already saved in a Traktor collection playlist)

Can I drag a Stem file into a deck but keep the deck view as a regular track deck?

Yes! (or maybe "sort of"). The feature that shows the four waveforms is called "DAW View" and it's mappable in Controller Manager under Add In > Track Deck > DAW View. So you can map a button on your controller or keyboard to toggle between four waveforms or the single unified waveform. I suspect you could also set up your mapping so that DAW view is toggled off every time you load a track, but I don't know for sure.

If you're referring to a stem file, there's no way to merge stems to get the original file at the moment. But if you're talking about a track that has a stem version, then yes it's possible. Just head over to the Loading section in Preferences.

unfortunately almost unusable in parallel view with maximum zoom out. All tracks are the same and blurry from the halfway point on. and you can only convert one track at a time to stem. and for stems always on the fly, it takes 2-3 minutes to create (M1 Max on a maxedout Pro). also unusable in a real mix/party/club situation. Traktor is back, but it's not pro yet.

Not impressed so far. Stem generation is really slow and for the first track I tried wasn't clean enough. Also Traktor crashed after a few minutes of playing and the stems I just created were lost, as well as a playlist I created. Also the stem display on my S8 is bugged. Have to press a button next to the display twice to see the stems on the display. Feels like a beta test. Oh, and you can't generate stems for more than one selected file at a time, there is no qeue or anything. Edit: I can consistently crash the app by loading the stem version of a track into a deck that alread has the non-stem version loaded. This shouldn't happen.
