A case could be made that the eighties was the greatest decade in human history. And even then we used to dream of what life would be like in the 2020's. We assumed no more wars, no famine, no illness...now here we are in the 2020's and I want to go back to the eighties again. It should be noted that some movies and novels written in the 80's about the future, pretty much predicted a lot of what we are seeing now. Robocop (the original, not the remake) had violent runaway crime, a 24 hour media cycle that sensationalized it, and insipid, useless people in government; almost like what we have now.

What I loved about the 80s and 90s BMWs that I owned was how connected you were to the road, how you felt the car going through the corner. How you could correct the turn, because your hands on the wheel knew where the front wheels were pointed. Now the only connection to the car is bluetooth 😔 Also...never had an unreliable BMW. As one might tell from my profile picture, I'm not a massive BMW fan and expert so I gotta ask y'all, what is that red car called!? I love looking at it! Also, I sort of like the idea of a companion as my car, but I never had a hard time loving my car and seeing as something with it's own character and personality, based on how it drove, looked like, and my experiences with it. I don't want some plastic car with an AI that records my conversations and potentially forces me to get subscriptions for basic services. I'll stick with my old cars lol. I was born in 2001 but I can't help but feel Arnold was right in the beginning. So many things like cars, movies, and music in the 80s were just magical. There was maybe even more hope to the future. Today, it feels there is very little to look forward to except regression in the quality of the things we own.

While the commercial is really cool, BMW has learned nothing about Facebook failure venturing into virtual reality space with meta. Virtual reality, color change based on emotion, this has zero practicality and has zero usefulness, is gimmicky at the very best. This is added useless tech than when it brakes cost an arm and a leg. This is equal to adding neons and tech that existed as voice activated /alexia, AI interaction, and so on , you could have added chatgpt for a change. But how about adding something that is actually useful in firstplace , rather than just add gimmicky stuff as changing colors based on emotion and meta type virtual reality? The older BMW where useful because of the fact they where not made of plastic parts and nor had so much tech that when it brakes it cost a hand and a leg to get replaced. The older BMWs lasted far more time before replacing than actual cars producedby BMW. This route is also going Mercedes Benz unfortunately, that used to be the most solid car in market that was build as a tank and needed more than two decades before getting replaced. No wonder people prefer Japanese cars to BMW today. I still prefer german cars as Mercedes Benz but they following the same route of BMW, adding useless gimmicky tech, not keeping up with the real and actual market demand.
