Terrible should be in Penticton

So does this mean the ironman event will happen every year at the same time in Ottawa? Or only for 2025?
@seanvonlost4 ай бұрын
Honestly, you lost me as soon as you showed me a disaster of a swim course. I can’t stand a 2 loop where you run into the back of hundreds of people on the second loop, total chaos and safety concerns for everyone.

I agree 100%. Bad idea, gonna have to skip this debacle. Almost as bad as an upstream swim.

Will there be traffic control at the intersections of the bike course?
@JustShaneB4 ай бұрын
Sounds like it’s a 100% closed course. So no worries about traffic.
@tarynsp174 ай бұрын
@@JustShaneB Actually, I learned the hard way at IMAZ that there is no such thing as a "closed course." Rather Ironman works with the host city's police department to set up traffic control at each intersection of the course, but if an intersection is missing traffic control, and the public is unaware of the race going on, people can simply do what they like, impede riders and tragedy ensues. So, I hope this race has traffic control at "every" intersection.
@JustShaneB4 ай бұрын
@@tarynsp17 you’re 100% correct. I hope that wasn’t you this year at IMAZ that got hit. I was going to qualify my statement with, “but you should always be vigilant for cars that sneak on/disobey the traffic controls. And watch for emergency vehicles on the course”, but I choose laziness.. lol
@tarynsp174 ай бұрын
@@JustShaneB Yes, I was struck by a man riding on a razor scooter who blew through the intersection, not what I was expecting DURING a race! In any case, the IM head ref., Jimmy Riccatello was on the scene quickly, and explained to me the next day that they cannot guarantee a closed course because the public does nutty things, but traffic control is usually in place. Unfortunately, they were not set up in time at that intersection where the guy crossed onto the course, but lesson learned for me to be very specific at every race in the future. Good luck you decide to race in Ottowa!

Canada went completely bananas over Covid. The way the Canadian government handled the trucker protests was absolutely dreadful. Great people in Canada 🇨🇦, but TBH I’ll be sitting this one out until I see what Americans have to say about crossing the border and being there.

The course is a joke very flat and repetitive no challenge no real climbs Wii be easy for beginners and a no show for experienced ironmans A terrible choice for a long distance race but I probably will volunteer !!

Flat means fast. No such thing as an easy race. It’s as hard as you make it.

Canada went completely bananas over Covid. How many shots are they requiring to get into the Country? Haven’t been there since before the Rona and after the way the government handled the trucker protests, I have no desire to go back.
