Thanks for your review. I got my first portable monitor early this year, the MSI Optix MAG161V. I love its portability, but I did not check on the brightness before buying it. It is only 178 nits. If I keep the curtains closed, I don't have problems. But as soon as the day goes brighter, I struggle to see my screen, plus it is quite reflective. And forget about going outdoors with it. This HP monitor is much brighter than any other I have checked on the market (400nits) and you say it is not reflective? Can you take it outside and use it normally? Another question: how smaller is this compared to a regular FHD 15" monitor? Can you tell the difference?
@CarlinTalksHP2 жыл бұрын
Hey Jose, thanks for your comment! Yes, can confirm that the screen has a matte, anti-glare finish. I never tested it outside personally, but did use it under direct sunlight coming from a window (with great results). Having said that, my personal notebook also has a 400nit display and I've used it outside many times when it's a nice day, so the E14 shouldn't have any problems there. While this display is obviously smaller than a FHD 15" display, it's a small difference. Windows will appropriately scale everything on your screen so the only major difference will be slightly smaller text. My suggestion if you want to compare 14" to 15" is head to your local electronic appliance retailer and have a look at the different screen sizes to see if 14" is right for you.

Great video. Do you know how it can be connected to a mobile device?? The instructions say it can but it doesn't seem to work.. thanks.

@Carlin, quick question. Screen can be adjusted from what angle to what angle? Example 0⁰ to 90⁰?
@CarlinTalksHP3 жыл бұрын
Hey Kavil, the hinge is adjustable from 0⁰ - flat on the table, to about 85⁰

Hi Carlin, any idea where to get a cable to connect the E14 montior to a USB3.0 (A) output source like TOSHIBA Satellite PRO?
@CarlinTalksHP3 жыл бұрын
As far as I am aware this particular monitor does not support older legacy display connection (like USB A), only USB C. Hope this helps.

Can this monitor work as a secondary or third option monitor for your desktop computer. I have the S14 and it doesn't wort with my desktop. Thank you for the video.
@CarlinTalksHP3 жыл бұрын
Hi Andrew, Yes it works with desktops as well! As long as the desktop has a USB type-C port that supports video.

I just bought it and waiting it to arrive. My old computer doesn't have USB-C port..... can I use any HDMI to USB-C as an adapter? Most cases HDMI to USB-C from computer that has USB-C and monitor is HDMI. NOt sure if I can use the same cable for reverse role which computer is HDMI & monitor is USB-C. Thanks.
@CarlinTalksHP3 жыл бұрын
Hi Winnie, I have not tested this but definitely would NOT recommend doing it this way. the USB-C connection between the monitor and the notebook is for power delivery to the monitor as well as video output. using an HDMI to USB-C adapter will not allow your notebook to deliver power to the monitor. Hope this helps :)

Thank you for this video maybe you can help. I bought 2 of these and I am trying to figure out how to run both of these off of 1 computer. Dell latitude computer with 1 thunderbolt port. They don't make a thunderbolt splitter so I'm running into a wall with this. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thank you.
@CarlinTalksHP3 жыл бұрын
Hey Graham, I have managed to run two of these displays off of my notebook in the past, all while running on battery power. I managed to get it working by plugging into both USB-C ports on my notebook (the two USB-C ports on the E14 display do not support display passthrough, just power passthrough). In theory there shouldn't be any hardware (USB bandwidth) limitations preventing you from running both displays into the same thunderbolt 3 port on your notebook, you would just need to make sure that your adapter is high enough bandwidth and supports video. Hope this helps!

@@CarlinTalksHP What adapter though? There is no adapter that I could find. My laptop only has 1 thunderbolt spot. I can power the other monitor off of a USB port but how to I get video to other monitor?
@GrahamBraun3 жыл бұрын
So I purchased the only adapter that I could find that takes a regular usb(for power) and hdmi and converts to a usbc outlet. The computer recognizes the monitor and even the name but the monitor still won't detect any input...... I'm lost - played with settings on monitor and still nothing. This is frustrating.
@CarlinTalksHP3 жыл бұрын
@@GrahamBraun Hey mate, once again the biggest factor that would hold you back from this setup working would be the bandwidth of the adapter. USB-C adapters can be tricky as they all look the same, but actual specs vary a lot. I obviously don't have the specs of your adapter, so can't comment on it specifically, but you mentioned that yours takes regular USB (I'm assuming that's USB type-A), which wouldn't work in this setup. At the end of the day, the only method that I have tested myself is by plugging into two separate USB-C ports, so that's the only sure-fire method that I would personally recommend.

Is any usb port enough?
@swathirao99722 жыл бұрын
Hi.. I bought this portable monitor recently but I need a longer usb c cable and bought one off of Amazon but I keep getting an error msg to check the video cable. Could please let me know what kind of a cable I should be looking for??
@CarlinTalksHP2 жыл бұрын
Hi Swathi, the one downside of USB-C is that, because it is a truly universal connection type, there are a lot of different variations of third party cables to choose from - some that do power-only, some that do data but no video, etc, etc. To be on the safe side I would reach out to HP directly (or your local HP reseller) and order a compatible cable, to ensure it will work with no limitations.

I'd love to know if this monitor can be daisy changed to another E14 for a tripple screen type of set up. Hope somone out there has thought of doing this.
@CarlinTalksHP8 ай бұрын
This has been a very common question! Unfortunately no, you cannot daisy chain - although if your notebook has two USB-C ports you can definitely plug in two displays at once.

Hi Will this work if I use an HDMI to Type C ?
@CarlinTalksHP3 жыл бұрын
Hey Niki, Unfortunately not. The USB-C connection offers power delivery to the monitor, as well as video. This means an HDMI to USB-C adapter will not work.

Hello my friend, I am watching the video from Iraq. I have a similar one that I acquired a long time ago and did not try, but today I would like to try it and I have a question: Can I run the PlayStation 4 on this screen?
@CarlinTalksHP4 ай бұрын
Hey mate, thanks for your comment. As far as i'm aware the PS4 does not have any sort of display-out via USB-C. So no - This monitor won't work with a PS4. If you try using an HDMI-to-USB-C adapter the HDMI port on the PS4 will not be able to deliver power to the monitor like a PC would.

How about color accuracy?
@CarlinTalksHP2 жыл бұрын
Hi Sanggam, if colour accuracy is mission critical for you, these monitors are not calibrated at factory. I would suggest either getting one of these professionally calibrated (or do it yourself if you have the right equipment) or have a look at HP's Z Display range, which are all colour calibrated at factory. Although it's worth noting they are all desktop monitors - nothing portable.
@sanggamnapitupulu2 жыл бұрын
@@CarlinTalksHP Thanks. I need the portable one because my laptop screen is broken and Asus found that the problem was in the motherboard, so changing my laptop monitor and lvds cable are useless.
