I love how things work their way around. Something like a hand clap gets sampled and used in hip hop, edm, and various genres. And now drummers can replicate this sound with cymbals. But you know you’re really in the big leagues when you can hire like five or six people to stand on stage and clap along with you. Hahaha

It’s interesting, in this entire 3+ minute demo, not one of them used it for 4th or 8th notes (like you would play on the hi hat) almost as if they told them not to do so. It’s used as an accent every single time.

I find it hard to picture it useful in a live situation. It's an accent to short and soft that would barely get noticed. Anyways, wouldn't a sample pad with an actual clap cost less and be more usable?

All the cymbal companies rip each other off. Paiste pioneered the flat ride. Now every cymbal maker offers one. Paiste also came up with the wavy, Sound Edge bottom hi hat. But Zildjian calls theirs "Mastersound," and Meinl's is "Soundwave." IdK the exact history of China type cymbals, but EVERY cymbal maker has plenty of China type cymbals. 😅
