INTJ. When I tell someone something that happened to me, I start with the conclusion and then jump to the context, everything that led to that situation. I also don’t give a lot of details, for example I usually don’t name the people who participated because I don’t want to bore them and I know they’re not even going to remember, so why bother? In other words, only tell context and conclusion

I am an INFP, so i'm part of the intuitive types. I really like it when things are summarized because i get easily bored when they're too detailed. For me it is "Go straight to the point and please don't make so much speculations and details. Just say what you want to say no need for too much details". And that's why i struggle a lot when having conversations with my sensing friends. I easily lose interest on what they're saying and i just have to act like i listen to them.😭

I am INFJ married to ISFJ. That one little change in the second letter makes all the difference in the world. I live in the future, she lives in the present. I love theoretical frameworks, she likes concrete facts. I can learn (Frank didn’t mention this) by playing out scenarios in my mind. She learns by doing things and trying alternatives. We deal with these differences every day.

As an INTJ, this feels like such a call out 😭 This is a reoccurring problem of mine: I make a broad assertion, and when others inevitably ask for details, I literally don't remember anything. I don't remember WHY exactly I made the conclusion, it just pops up, and if I say it out loud, I have to commit. My brain likes to assume things and then argue them, but it's impossible to argue when you can't recall any evidence 😂

I am a huge pattern seer and will follow on that pattern until I hit a brick wall. Typically, this approach serves me well but sometimes I can convince myself something is some way and will eventually realize I have wandered out of reality and into the weeds and I am totally wrong. It is so jarring to be hit with reality. But mostly my intuition serves me well.

I'm an infp and this whole video is so accurate to me. I love creating and speaking in metaphors / analogies especially when I study for school and try to understand a topic. Mnemonics are very helpful (the more abstract the better lol). Also I love to catagorize my favorite movies, books or songs etc. I actually have many playlists for different moods but it was very annoying to add the songs (I guess that was the detail part). When my mom (isfj) tells me about a book she talkes about every little detail that I think I've read the book by myself in the end and I'm like "I just want to know what the story is about. Can't you tell me a short summary?"

As an INFP, my mind naturally creates mnemonics out of nothing for almost every silly thing in my life. I use music _as_ mnemonics to relate to the various personalities of the people in my life, similar to how Loony Toons used different instruments to describe the behaviors of each character -- and it all just happens naturally, it isn't something I do intentionally.

I'm an INTJ and I agree LOL. When I go the library I skim through the titles and look at the quotes and read the summary at the back to judge the content of a book. When I read a book I love to start out at the preface. When I'm doing Maths I pick out different questions instead of repeatedly doing similar questions. I love contextual and cross topic questions. I always think "if such and such and such... THEREFORE"

Out of all the Letters, N and S were always the ones that showed up almost interchangeably in my results. Depending on the test, the explanation or examples given, or even the time of the year, I’d lean S or N. In percentage based tests, I’d be pretty close in the middle for both of these. I think I understand why now. It seems that I am a sensing type who also quite often applies the imaginative aspect when necessary. I love patterns and structures and categories and analogies, but if something doesn’t actually fit the pattern, I do insist on re-examining the entire context or concept in order to get a more factually precise pattern. Another clue is probably that I get really irritated by vagueness, inaccuracy and unnecessarily repetitive information.

You should definitely look into cognitive functions. They'll help you figure out what type you are; online tests aren't reliable - especially ones that only use letter dichotomies

I am an ESFP with a brother who is ENFP. What I love about the dynamic is that being an extroverted sensor I tend to focus too much on how life is going right now, rather than where it could be in a years time. When I get stuck in that rut I can’t see beyond what is happening yet my brother comes in with all these other possibilities and the bigger picture that helps me to not feel so trapped. Then in my brother’s case, he is super disorganised and I’m pretty good at sorting things out and getting them done now. I’m quick to react to things going on around us, where as it takes him a while to process what has just happened

I have grown up in a family with all sensors and I’m an INTJ. I don’t usually enjoy talking about the same things they do, I find it so boring. I want to theorize, imagine and discuss scenarios, but they want to talk about all the facts about how family and friends are doing and how their work is going and so on and so forth. It’s not that I don’t care, it’s just that we could spend 5 minutes on it, then we can talk about other stuff. But you can’t really choose your family, so it’s just something I have to live with. And a rare time I run into someone who is interested in the same stuff that I am, an INTJ or INFJ or ENFP, and it feels like I’m capable of chatting with people as well.

im an intp and my friend is an istp. in 8th grade, we had to write a 3-4 page double-spaced short story, but my friend was struggling a lot because she kept adding too many details. it got to the point where the introduction of her “short” story was 5 pages long, she ended up starting over and was still struggling to limit her story to only 4 pages. i was basically the opposite of her.

I found this helpful because I just broke off a relationship with another intuitive. It took awhile for me to see he was emotionally abusive because the specific abusive behaviors (and "small" deceits) didn't fit the category I put him in as a good, caring person. The downside of having any kind of tunnel vision (N or S), especially when relating to others, is that we can miss sifting through information that's truly significant when forming a more realistic perspective about someone.

Like how studying accounting (im an Accountancy student) made me realize that a business entity can be related to an organism. Great explanation! I also think sensors have a better time at expressing their imagination or feelings. Intuitives have a hard time expressing it. It’s like “I have a lot of ideas and in my mind these look great” but when the time comes to express it, Intuitives find it a difficult task. Sensors on the other hand, they know exactly how and when they can portray their imagination. So I think that sometimes sensors are great artist and are really assertive. also is the reason why Intuitives tend to stress when they have to talk about their feelings or portray their imagination, because sometimes they don’t even understand themselves 😅

I agree. I doubted myself if I’m really intuitive (I’m INTP) because my ideas are big/simple and can’t seem materialize as imagined. So turns out this is common intuitive problem. Possible the thing we imagine is actually impossible to exist in reality even in words. For us the ideas are like starting an artwork from white canvas, you don’t know where to start. I think sensors can express better because they base their ideas/feelings from what exists.

I'm not so sure of that. I'm an INFP and usually have an easier time understanding the quick ramblings and strange connections of an intuitive than the onslaught of details that a sensor fires at me. Talking with with other person is like putting together a puzzle. When a sensor tries to explain something to me, a lot of times they throw at me a bunch of pieces (=facts) in an amorphous lump without the frame (=context) saying "Here, take this photo, what do you think?" while I'm looking at the pile thinking "What image? I only see a chaos of pieces and nothing else."

I/ENFJ here who works closely with an ISTP. I got into your videos after an MBTI staff development day to try to improve our communication. (Some of the comedy sketches are almost word for word conversations we've had haha!) Something I've found fascinating: we are both detail-oriented and visionary, but with different priorities. I am detail-oriented about the future and communication, and visionary about patterns, categorizing, and reading into emotional context. My coworker is detail-oriented about the concrete present and visionary about ultimate goals. Probably 80% of the time we talk past each other, it's that.

I was unsure if I was INTJ or ISTJ when I first started to get into MBTI but I identify a lot more with intuition than sensing (I took a cognitive functions test and scored much higher on intuition than sensing and I got the function stack of INTJ). I am a big picture observer and often miss details. I absolutely LOVE patterns and find them in almost anything. I’ve been told to get my head out of the clouds since I prefer the abstract world over the sensory world. And I’ve been told that a lot of what I say is confusing (even tho it makes perfect sense to me). I also am extremely future oriented and love to try and predict the future based on what I know

INTJ here and same. When I started getting into MBTI I didn't really know the difference between sensing and intuition and I totally thought I was a person of facts but turns out I'm not. I just didn't know myself so well back then. I'm living inside my head so much that I often miss details, especially the ones about the sensory world. But what made me understand I'm an intuitive is definitely the pattern thing. I love patterns and I find them easily in anything. I've also often been the kind of person who goes like "it's obvioulsy going to happen this thing" and then the thing happened. And it was just so easy to foresee because it was all about pattern but other people seemed not to see that. It's just natural to me.

@@lilyflynn6086 Hi Lily, I was at least 50% trying to be ironic with my comment :P And being intuitives I guess it does give FJ and myself license to poke fun at ourselves. I have a lot of respect for sensors; they are so grounded unlike intuitives who tend to live in their heads more. The only thing about sensors is that they can sometimes take things too literally or they need things explained to them very specifically. It's kinda like intuitives are like the Platonists while sensors are like the Aristotelians. There is nothing wrong with either side; we are just different :)

The longer this went on, the more sense it made. Sometimes I'll vent to my dad about the week, giving a general summary about my feelings or experiences, but no matter how well I think I explained my thoughts, he'll always ask for examples. It used to really upset me- why can't you just take my word for how I'm feeling, why do I have to prove the legitimacy of my problems to you- but this really puts some of those experiences into perspective. 👍✨

Beautifully explained! As an ENTJ I have butt heads many times with my ESTJ colleagues because of my preference for intuition. It stresses me out to actually bother focusing on the details but when it comes to consulting, perhaps the detail is particularly important. Nevertheless, it's a pain to watch people obsess with the detail and not realise the opportunities lost or the anticipated issues just because it hasn't happened yet, as my 'guesses' tend to be pretty accurate.

That’s why it’s important to have both to complete a project with proper tasks assigned to everyone. With only intuitives it will work but the lack of details might weaken the project. And only sensors well, the project may lack long term vision or take too much time to start. As an INTJ I understood early that details were important, but I can’t bother it’s just so boring. I just delegate to someone who enjoy taking care of it (if possible).

As an ISTP who is the DM for a Ghostbusters RPG, it blows my mind how my INFJ friend can take two facts her character learned in the game and spin them into a grand overview of the entire situation. Occasionally it’s incredible how right she is! Other times, she’s waaay off base, but unfortunately she doesn’t reshape her view of the fictional situation as more facts are discovered, and is also extremely persuasive-so she can convince the other players to all also believe her theory. 😋

I feel like the intuition "guessing" aspect in N types sometimes can get a bit insane. Like even tho I'm INFP many times when i get a "gut" feeling about something I try to tell myself to be more rational, to wait, to see the facts, and many times that "gut" feeling is indeed proven right despite not seeming to be logical (once i stop and try to think about WHY i had that guy feeling i can list the reasons i couldn't express in words before)

Totally relatable! Whenever I have to guess something, I discard the first guess as it seems as more of a gut feeling than reasonable and speak aloud the second or third or whatever seems the most logical after weighing the facts but most of the time my first guess is right or closest to the truth. All those times, when at at school I would make a guess and the one I thought first but didn't say would be indeed the right answer: Dang it!

As an ENFP, I fit the description of intuitives with the first part. I don't understand why anyone would start a project without an outline. Whenever I write a story, I need to have the theme, and a general plot planned out from start to finish. I may or may not stick to my plan, but I need to see the big picture to even know where to start on something. For the second part, I can be very detail oriented when it comes to facts. My Ti blindspot hates subjective logic, so I really think it's a Te thing rather than a sensor thing. I notice false things easily. My ISFJ stepmom very evidently used Ti and only cares if something "makes sense" even if there's something wrong with it. To her, as long as it's similar enough to reality and can be understood, it's good. Not for me. For the third, fourth, and fifth part, I definitely care more about patterns and connections than wrong information. What you mentioned about sensors needing to give examples, I relate to, but only because I have a fear of being misunderstood. I definitely use analogies. New information is useless unless it can be related to older information (Ne and Si working together) so I tend to use analogies, but sometimes they are only relevant to me because of my unique past experiences that not everyone can relate to. For the sixth part, I'm not especially good at making predictions, but I definitely like guessing and I am good at following one thing to another. I got good at algebra because I could extrapolate non-obvious information from an equation and get a general idea of the mechanics of the equation. Sometimes I have a hard time sorting through the sea of details and coming to a concrete answer however. For the seventh part, I definitely relate when you mentioned about imagining future outcomes. I have far too many plans to account for random possibilities that would rely on very slim odds. I also can't stop myself from imagining how a situation could have turned out and I panic whenever I realize I get lucky because I imagine so many negative outcomes that I realize how close something bad was to happening. I have to tell myself the past is the last, but what if something identical happens again and the negative outcome happens? Anyways, thank you for confirming I am indeed an intuitive. Good stuff! Now I know why having to make a detailed outline of my report was so arduous in school. I just wanted to give a broad overview and figure out all the details later when I actually wrote it. And when public speaking I just jot down a few key points and then I can just link it all together in the moment. Having to write every word of a speech beforehand would be detestable. I’m always categorizing. But I get bogged down and paralyzed when i can’t see all the categories or which category every item fits into. Getting, and staying, organized is hard. Now that I’m older I realize it’s counterproductive to constantly guess what’s coming next because I am missing details! yes! i watched some physicist dudes talk about how they didn't know how quantum mechanics lead to macro physics and i understood it immediately. it's like pointillist paintings (ex, Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte featured in ferris bueller's day off), there's many tiny dots doing their own thing but as you pull out they lose distinctness, and you mostly see the larger image they're working together to construct. but the dots don't go away, they're still there, doing their funny little dot things.

Interesting thing about the Patterns vs. Events point: one time, a peer and I were doing this activity to determine what we would guess the price of certain grocery items was. We came to an example of where we were shown a purple bag of mozzarella cheese. I guessed it was the more expensive option out of the two prices we were given because cheese is oftentimes the most expensive part of a meal, comparing itself to carbs or bread, for example. (There’s a reason why Olive Garden serves so many bread sticks before getting to the meals with cheese it in. Bread is much less expensive than dairy products). Also, because the bag was purple, and purple is so rare in nature, it one of the most expensive colors to use (Hence why purple is the color of royalty, because royals were at one point only able to afford purple dye). Whereas, the other peer figured out that the price was actually the less expensive option solely because of the pattern that the first option was always correct. I did not even notice the pattern at all. In case you’re wondering, I’m an ISTJ, and the peer was an INTP.

To be honest, the unreasonable, underestimation of the sensors by the American mbti community combined with the first difference the video shows, "overview / details" gave me a déjà vu from when I sent my art portfolio to an American studio, as they pointed out as “negative aspects” the fact I draw details, shades and light, while what they want is mainstream, simplified and flat caricatures and vectors because "they are easy to sell". But in Europe, I am hired as an illustrator a lot exactly because I don't follow the caricature simplified pattern and they seem to appreciate my lighting and details. So...maybe the underrating stereotype is a cultural thing? Who knows... In my country we are also very philosophical and we enjoy analyzing things and questioning, and I do as well, often much more than any intuitive I know, even if my Si is dominant. And I have been asked by an intuitive how and I am into fantasy and published my own fantasy books since I am not an intuitive but a sensor and "fantasy is an intuitive's thing" ...guys...stereotypes don't define us all. Everyone has their own value and for things to move forward you need both the vision and the practical person that can make it come true. And often, against the stereotypes, one can be both.

Fantasy being a intuitive notion doesn't match up with the notion of sensors being the largest population since they're the ones funding pop culture franchises, especially with the notion of ISTJs and ISFJs being the most common types and being so loyal to uphold the enduring fantastical/science fiction characters. Curious if that notion has made a lot of ISFJs think they're INFP because of that stereotype. Although, INFP J.R.R. Tolkien is the one fantasy author to Rule them all! At least what I read, which isn't much, and I haven't read LOTR or Chronicles of Narnia (Horse and His Boy was my favorite...but I don't remember a single thing about it) since I was a kid. It's how I get my kicks coming up with all different "you know they say..." narratives, especially coming up with ones that contradict each other to see what happens. I bet you're now re-thinking the well wishes for my goals...although, you did say best meaning, it probably should be for something good, and if not, then you were the kind one suggesting I had noble goals like a stereotypical friendly ISFJ...I'm kidding! Hopefully, I didn't loose with these jokes, but if you'd like to share your inspiration behind your avatar, feel free! Very cool that your fan art is of The Silmarillion. I think Tolkien helped create such a rich template and his LOTR will endure for all time. Regardless of anyone's type, I think he's an amazing inspiration for making art to uplift people, and perhaps, Tolkien's Middle Earth isn't everyone's cup of tea from a surface level, but I think if people find the right variation that caters to their sensibilities, they can appreciate it. And being that Si is so particular, ISFJs be excellent barer of the torch. Also, ISFJ Samwise Gamgee is the best. When I think of best fictional friends, I think of Sam, Cliff Booth (Once Upon a Time in Hollywood), Mary Bailey (It's a Wonderful Life), Lisa (Rear Window), Mel Miller (A Face in the Crowd), and...well, pretty much the entire Fellowship of the Ring are up there. Perhaps, the reason behind that American studio's decision was because they were thinking of people wanting a similar appeal with Myers and Briggs where they're trying to give the basic of essence/simplistic representation for the widest appeal for people to project themselves into, but, and I'd enjoy hearing your thoughts, I think of Meyers and Briggs types like emoticons where it's basic cave men language that can be used to represent so many different emotions without context similar to how personality type is just the basic essence of personality type whereas people's full personality is informed how the choices they make with their intellect and will which is informed by people's beliefs, faith, intelligence (which factors into what you initially said about the underestimation of sensors- people are missing out!), maturity, experiences, upbringing, financial situation, job, culture, health, surrounding, education, etc. Conceptually, ISFJs can be more interesting than INFJs since if they're just common types, then the people would have to work more on their personality to stand out, and if they're dominant function is introvert sensing, they're informed/energized with actual experience, and every single person is different, and being that introverted sensing is so particular to the individual, it provides a wealth of interest. And now thanks to the internet, it's probably helped a lot of sensors develop intuition way quicker thanks to the wealth of options for someone with just the right personality at the right time to cater to each individuals particular interests to make them interested in developing intuition in a fun way. And this is just my theory, but I think if type is based on the overall big picture, then it makes sense for types to be be most similar to the same type with one letter off, and possibly the reverse say for an ISFJ since, and please share your thoughts! In order to get refined sensing with Si, it would require extroverted sensing, and I'm currently thinking being introverts, and depending on how much they spend time alone, ISFJs could develop more Fi than Fe, or be focused on their own Fi values to better Fe harmonize with people, which means that they're conceptually adept at Si and Fi which are very particular functions providing for a very unique individual as opposed to an INFJ attempting to simplify everything combined with Fe, that doesn't make for such uniqueness (unless they're more introverted developing that particular Fi which might be a case with Frank James which is a reason people think he's an INFP but I don't know!) which is why I think a lot of people of every type would relate to Frank James' INFJ skit segments since it's the broadest appealing type meaning, it's helpful for setting a standard for cool and attractiveness, but everyone is different so it's just a way to get the general population on the same page to highlight those, like yourself, who don't fit in with the generalities. And getting back to ISFJs, if they're so introverted to develop Fi more (and this is just my theory!), they might think themselves similar to ESFPs along with INFJs, ESFJs, ISFPs, and ISTJs, but the distinction will be apparent when thinking of ISFJs conceptual weakness with thinking and intuition, and because they're weaker in those areas, the more "preferred" Ti and Ne with be help make the distinction where they'll appear so much different conceptually than ESFPs and ISFPs, and then somewhat ISTJs but being that I think the introverted thinking depth of Ti requires breaking apart Te for a refined consistent logic that works for the individual, ISFJs can relate to ISTJs. So the inferior Ne is going to be more apparent with lack of inclination toward Ni and therefore by not being so inclined toward that Ni reduction, ISFJs are going to be interesting....conceptually...everyone is their own unique individual. Also, I think ESFPs might not focus on developing Si like ISFJs with Se because the introverting side of Si isn't required for Se where they can just go go go experiencing and not refining, so an ESFP most likely won't confuse himself or herself with being an ISFJ. And with that, there might be something with ENFPs and ENTPs not being for refining Ni which is why....I'm thinking that might be why Frank James said the types he'd want to be the most alien with are ISFJs, ISTJs, ENFPs, and ENTPs...I didn't think this through, I'm thinking right now as I'm writing to you and I gotta go! haha Hope some of this made sense! Feel free to let me know if you disagree or having any other thoughts! I really appreciate your reply. And your classy pleasant emoticons...as opposed to what I consider to be the caveman over the top smiley faces ones. Which I will take it as that you really gave it some time and thought, so thank you for sharing all these thoughts with me. Also, kudos for the separated paragraphs, they are easier to read. I agree with most things you say, so I don't see a point to elaborate on them one by one. Overall, I find your train of thought quite interesting as also the references and examples you gave. And about your humour, I have an ENTP brother. I can handle a lot~ About the American studios, I agree to what you said, but also the American culture seems to sacrifice quality for quantity in every aspect. More people to please, so more simplified products. The problem with that is that people are satisfied with products below average. You see that in music, you see that in food and films...They focus on the trends and not on making something actually good. Sometimes people are scared of what is good because they can't reach it, so it's not as relatable. The comparison of the INFJs with ISFJs, was pretty much to the point as well, but when it comes to cognitive functions, the culture but also the daily life of each person or their interests might lead to the utilisation of each one of them. You mentioned internet, but also reading interesting books or watching good films can help you grow as a person. I know Ni dominants that can't grasp many philosophical concepts or feel irrelevant to them because their Ni is trapping them in their own point of view, something Ne users don't struggle with as we are open to different perspectives. I have also noticed INFJs make often generalizations and come up with quotes that seem wise at first, but missing all the exceptions and facts, they just created a beautiful lie. Something that doesn't apply in real life. And they refuse to see it. Even FJ here, from his content overall in comparison to other MBTI channels, I don't know if it's an Ni or something else, but... he tends to stick a lot to his own perspective and the way he portrays the characters never breaks the stereotypes or gets deeper. I know the sketches are comedic, but they seem too....2D. Dear Kristin, on the other hand, gives them more depth and has them interact with each other making them more real. But maybe this is also because she is an Extrovert and FJ is an introvert. And this might play a part, as she appears to know well people from each type and mimic their behaviour, still in a comedic way but more dimensional. I am also surprised and glad of your appreciation to my reply and use of emojis that are a little out of the ordinary with a more floral approach. I think smiley faces wouldn't define me as much as an offer. And offering a beautiful flower is as if you indeed give something to the other person more than a smile that might be fake. Of course, it depends on the person and sometimes it could provide a helpful balance for more aggressive people where they have to swing the other way over the top emotionally. Also, they're useful to help de-escalate things with them since because since they're so emotional they only respond to emotion, and that's not a feeler or thinker thing which is something that Frank and other people bring up. The Meyers and Briggs foundation says: "Don't confuse Feeling with emotion. Everyone has emotions about the decisions they make. Also do not confuse Thinking with intelligence. Everyone uses Thinking for some decisions and Feeling for others. In fact, a person can make a decision using his or her preference, then test the decision by using the other preference to see what might not have been taken into account." Although, I understand how Fe reads the emotional expressions of others and how Fi values can be informed by ones' emotions, so I think I understand what they're saying. Frank uses emoticons a lot but I understand being that this is channel is how he's making a living so he just has to appeal to what the people want but, if someone used those kind of emoticons with me when it was just me seeing the emoticon, and not the person thinking other people were reading our texts, I wouldn't appreciate it and think they're phony or trying to manipulate me. And I might use emoticons back at them or mirror them to try to help them feel better or I'm on pick up pants patrol in covering my butt from some weirdo. It's like white knight men/feminists being so overly the top about women where I'm thinking, they're probably perverts or I'll see them on the news later on. Also, I think similarly about many into anime with the over the top emotions. Although, the attraction to the over the emotions might be by people who have trouble reading people so they need the over the top emotions. That might have something to with INTPs and ISTPs being into anime. My inability to read people well is one interested I had in Meyers and Briggs so I'm not putting anyone down, and it's something I actually broke down over years ago when someone was asking when I was interest in Meyers and Briggs because I wasn't good at reading people...but I think I'm decent in away, which I'm sure you, and anyone is, if you're a "real person", it doesn't matter what type you are: real recognizes real. Everyone appreciates authenticity. Reasonably of course, there's a time and a place for everything, and everyone should have privacy and with so many weirdos, I don't recommend full out authenticity but more relative authenticity. Not bashing anime, since Dragon Ball was my favorite franchise, and Son Goku was my favorite fictional character (at least up to the Freeza arc since he and the rest of the characters lost their intelligence and, while they are flawed, they had a nobility to them, and that nobility was lost as well...plus, the writing made no sense but that's another conversation). Also, I like Ponyo when I saw it. And I saw that you had anime looking videos on your channel, and that's the kind of anime aesethetic I think is great. But regardless of my preferences, hopefully you understood what I meant with my Spidey sense going off with certain people into the overly emotional fake nice guy stuff where, again, it's like "I'll see you on the news" and stay away from kids, and all our daughters and sisters, weirdos! if you're extremely confused as to whether you're "intuitive" or "sensing" because you relate to different aspects of both so much, it's time to learn about cognitive functions. ExxJ and IxxP types are not super controlled by their N function or S function. we have it relatively balanced. this is why i you see lots of ESxJs making generalizations and IxNPs correcting things for the sake of nuance. the order of our cognitive functions explain this. it's all about preference and some preferences are heavier than others

Tangents is the key to look for. I'm intuitive. I realised years ago when talking to sensors they were getting frustrated because I just can't help going off on tangents in every conversation. I noticed that whenever I am conversing with someone who goes off on tangents I am indeed speaking to an intuitive.

I personally really try hard to work on perceiving the world through sensing, because I dislike it; but I would love to hear an updated run down of how all personality types tries to strengthen their inferior functions.

The overview thing is accurate. When I tell friends a story, I give the overall gist first then along the way I remember to add details that matter. In my view they should get it because I’ve given them the context where whatever detail I remember to add can obviously fit into.

We used to differentiate our global (intuitive) learners from our anayltical (learners) when i was teaching. This is so spot on. Global learners need to see the big picture first and then move to the details; the analytical learners, of course, are the opposite. Analytical learners deduce. I'm an ENFJ I think - thing is that my N and S are split evenly., so can function as ESFJ too I guess.

@@bethtaylor9773 the website 16 personalities (since you're mentioning percentages I take it that you used that one) makes it look like it's E vs I, S vs N, T vs F and P vs J but MBTI is actually about cognitive functions, not letters. So ENFJs have Fe as their primary function, Ni as auxiliary, Se as their tertiary and Ti as inferior function. Maybe your tertiary function is just well developed. Se is about living in the now, focusing on the outside world and getting information through one's senses. Does that seem like something that you do well, thus making you interpret this as being 50% a senser?

I'm definitely more on the N side, but tests usually show me as pretty close on the whole N vs S scale. I've had a lot of trouble with both types when it comes to actually DOING things though. when they get to their extremes S types can get so bogged down in details that they'll never actually start a project, or they'll make it way more complicated than it needs to be by constantly ironing out these details. then when something goes wrong it throws the entire project off because it affects the other details. then on the other side, when N types go to their extremes their plans become unreasonable, making grand plans but never going over key details, then getting overwhelmed when those big issues come up that they didn't see coming.

And I need to process it more but I think this might be a 10/10 video. The visuals, placing, mix of levity, and authenticity (I think you were a little too detached in your last one along with Kylo Ren and Harley Quinn pop culture reference were helpful examples but they didn't seem like you which is fine because they're popular characters and I couldn't think of a better example to illustrate INFP than Kyle Ren (I read in the comments someone typed Frankenstein's monster as an INFP which he might be a better character but I think you chose the most helpful example just like Luke might be the most helpful for heroes...at least from the old movies since I didn't see the new ones past Episode VII which Revenge of the Sith is my favorite Star Wars movie but I think Empire, New Hope, and Episode VII Force Awakens were the best made Star Wars films and...it was my favorite Star Wars movie at the time because it was the last one I saw and on the people's hype which... Oh wait, I don't know if this is helpful to anyone but a reason why I write so much is for tactile memory where there's an emotional connection so it's kinda like with Star Wars where I watched the Star Wars movies multiple times as a kid but my mind was a complete blank on Han Solo not knowing who he was as an adult but then seeing the new Force Awakens and getting hyped with the people for conversation and writing about it, it kept an emotional connection for Star Wars to help with memory similar to why if I write what you say in your videos and being that I'm having a blast keeping up with your videos and thinking of trying to write something entertaining for the comments (which is why even you took a break, I'd still be thinking of stuff for the Tuesdays and then Wednesdays and then Thursdays because you kept changing up the days so then I had to keep thinking every day haha) , it keeps what you say in my head when previously when I'd listen to 16 type videos or read up on forums, I'd be taking notes But this emotional connection is my notes...oh, and that's why your recent thumbnail changes messed me up because now that the visual connection is gone, looking at the date, I know I had to have watched the videos, but I have to click on the video to see that I liked it to help confirm (I'm subscribed to around 400 people, and you're one of the 20 some subscribers that I "like" before watching...and you are my favorite INFJ youtuber..I can make a list of my favorite of the 16 types so you don't think I'm just blowing sunshine up your bum)...which... As a sensor… I want to say, intuitives don’t just “guess”. They are excellent at looking at trends and making a hypothesis based on the trend. If x=y Then we know that y will eventually be this. A lot of intuitives do great in the stock market. Whereas the sensors play by the book play safe.. not much risk takers.

I think the guessing aspect is the reason intuitives often make big leaps: they are super focused on the ideal outcome and don't see the steps they need to reach it and that life isn't always ideal. Sensing types see it better, and tend to have more a stable life as a result, but often times miss out on opportunities because they don't think chasing them is realistic. I think both of them can learn that high aspirations and pragmatism can go hand in hand

I think they get so excited about finding their ideal person and relationship that they often don't gauge people's personality or interest level in them accurately.

I’m intuitive (intj) and I really need to learn how to use this sensor power. It might bring way more depth in everything I do on a daily. I usually go pretty well into details concerning work stuffs, when I need to make everything perfect. But if you ask me to tell you my day, tell a story or give my impressions on a book… one sentence and I’m done. Managing sensor function is needed in social situations especially if you need to get something out from them.

I have taken the personality test multiple times and I mostly got INTJ or INTP and one time ISTJ. During the video, I kept analyzing myself and reached the conclusion that in many situations I use sensing more than intuition. but there's 1 one thing where I think I use intuition more and that is remembering stories and events. When I hear, watch or read a story or event no matter how hard I try to keep the details in mind, I forget them and only remember the summary/gist of it. It's really hard for me to recall the names of people, places, objects and dates of the events but I do remember the impression it had on me and the conclusion/moral of it.

ENxPs kinda grind on a bit of everything here and there so their toolbox is very broad and they can survive really well and even excel. ENFJs are actually pretty damn smart and really know how to make people do things for them, while xNTJs have that Te sigma mindset and get shit done all the time so they always make it pretty high up there. INFJs are always rolling dice with the types of friends they choose and how they interact with them, pretty dangerous game.

How interesting! I'm mostly INFJ but never realized how much I integrate Sensing into my Intuitive evaluation. I rely on 'getting the pig picture' really quickly and then zoom in on the facts to make the impression more concrete/justifiable. To be able to explain it. As more and more 'details' roll in, they refine my impression. The pattern breaks apart into sub-patterns until it gets all the variants. I have a Sensing-main friend with whom I almost exclusively adopt a fact-based discourse, and then I mix it up with others or adapt. In my circles, I'm among the top in perceptive and it makes sense. You get an advantage if something forces you to use both ways all of the time.

Omg - I've spent years thinking I was an intuitive, especially because I was always like "of course I have an imagination", "I'm quite capable of abstract thought", "I'm very good at brainstorming ideas", and "I very much appreciate theory and philosophy". In fact, I'm a PhD Candidate in Sociology, so I'm also very good at picking up on patterns. However, your description of a sensor and what sensors look for sounds exactly, pretty much word-for-word, like the critiques I give to so many students when I read their papers. My feedback is quite literally: "where are your sources?", "this is a sweeping generalization", "this misses the nuance and complexity", "this is opinion, not fact", "this should be grounded in some kind of evidence", "this is vague"; "you need details and examples".... it drives me NUTS and I could never understand it. And oddly enough, I always have felt like many of the questions in the cognitive functions/MBTI tests are either vague, or invalid because they are double-barrelled and poorly worded which made the tests so confusing to me. Your video is making me think that maybe I'm actually a sensor. Even when I'm teaching, I consistently ground theories in real-life, concrete examples so students can see how the topics/abstract concepts at hand are applicable, and what they 'look like' in the real world. I love theories and philosophies in my area (e.g., ethics, equity/equality, morality, social justice) because I do think they carry weight for real people. Anyway, I really appreciate this video!
