I love it when James does M.B.T.I.-specific videos, especially when they’re not about relationships/crushes (I’m not massively into that stuff when it comes to taking the time to watch clips of that ilk on KZbin). The videos where he just uses ‘introvert’ as a general descriptor he tends to be talking about passive IxFPs than anyone-else and I hardly relate to them at-all. This, on the other hand, is the sort of stuff I love to see. Well-in, Frank. Please keep it up.

As an INFP, I've never heard a more accurate description. I was the quietest kid in class, my class literally clapped for me the first time I asked my teacher to repeat themself. It's also very surprising how confident I am in front of the spotlight, whenever I did a presentation or got on stage my class's jaws dropped.

Yeees I relate so much, like in my class when the super extroverts make a presentation they're not that confident and stress but when I do presentation I'm just sooo confident and look at everyone (even the teacher asked if we wanted to present in front of the class or only in front of the teacher and the extroverts said just in front of the teacher but me the contrary)

Honestly I'm surprised as I was never really the quietest kid, I think I was the type that bounced between the categories he stated, if I was in a class with no friends I would be quiet and doodle except asking and answering questions in some classes but other times I'd get in trouble for talking to my friends in class non stop, me and my friend were moved away from eachother as we would spend all maths talking to eachother even though we werent the disruptive type (still think its unfair when the more popular girls were so disruptive haha) I had many groups I would float to and basically talk to whoever would talk to me but had only 3 close friends at the time, I was into sports and had a friendly rivalry at least on my side and super outgoing in those types or areas, but liked being on my own and getting on with work, sitting alone and being quiet was pretty typical I guess, but I was never the quietest overall. I hate presentations, the introvert in me terrified of standing in front of people and presenting something, but I liked the part where we would work in a group for it haha, but would step up to talk when others couldn't. I'm absolutely an infp, I'm painfully introverted really and am absolutely terrible at maintaining any social connections, everything he mentioned really described me too, and especially the interest changing and having something you accidently stand out with(for me, art) but I find it interesting how even tho we may be infps, not all of our experiences are the same. I do have adhd and autism so perhaps some of my differences and more talkative tendacies are due to that haha

As an INTP, I can confirm, homework is the last thing I think about. And there are some subjects that I already know a lot about and it's just boring, some of them seem useless, or there are some that are just dislikable. Although the biggest struggle of them all, personally, is having to work in groups or having to learn at the others' speed.

I completely agree with the INTP ones. I will be suddenly hooked to a random topic while doing homework and assignments. And tada! The work remains incomplete or it is completed at the very last moment. "Learning is more important than grades" I couldn’t agree more to this. We are bound to make mistakes in exam but that doesn’t necessarily determine our intelligence or capability. When I was in the middle school, I was at the extreme spectrum of introversion and struggled in communicating. But now with the passage of time, I improved a lot.

Any mindless manual labor is boring, too, even though we can become very good at it if it's not physically demanding. As an INTJ, I cannot agree more! Literally the part where you said "oh there's a test today?" I was dying, I never studied once in school because it was boring haha and managed to keep a 3.9 GPA k-12 and a 4.0 in college. I definitely defied social norms forsure, by being friendly, sensitive, kind, quiet, and had a very unique and unconventional presence about me. I was the dude who got along with everyone mostly, and was somewhat popular with the ladies, in a friendly way though. INTJ married to an INTJ. We were high school sweethearts. My spouse literally calculated exactly how much work he was required to do to get what he considered an acceptable grade in each class, and would do no more or less than that amount. Many teachers just gave up asking about his homework and he drove everyone insane because he never, ever studied but scored extremely high. Went to college for exactly one semester before ditching it completely and going a different route. I focused my energy on getting the highest possible scores in every class because it was part of my long-term plan to get as many scholarships as possible so I could attend college. Ironically the thing that kept me out of the best schools was not my grades/test scores, which were impeccable, but the fact that I had no extracurricular passions or social life. I got to college and was interested in information but not grades so much; it also occurred to me that I'd never actually tried in school? Makes me wonder what I could have accomplished if I'd actually put some effort in. TLDR: Frank, please stop stalking us, it's getting out of hand.

As an INFJ, I can really agree with what you said about having a lot of friends and acquaintances without realizing it at first, because we don't like to expose who we really are to many people so we end up masking ourselves to fit in more which can draw the appeal of the general populous with which we socialize. Although, we are able to drop the mask when we're with the people we really trust on a deeper level making for wonderful close relationships that are beneficial for everyone involved.

There might be something to that. I fit the description of the shy loner INFP to a T. But as far as performing on stage, or singing, or making a presentation or report in front of anyone, or even just playing an instrument...no way, no how. Probably because I have no skill or talent in those areas, but I believe if I did I would still be only very slightly more apt to put myself out there, on display to other people. However, on thinking about this, I realize that in my job as a school librarian (yes, I do fit the stereotype of the mousy shy librarian 🙄), when I read to the younger kids I do tend to emote and add different voices to the characters in storybooks. Dry reading with no emotion or just spoken like a recitation always annoyed me. So, in that area alone, I am very expressive and let my weirdness shine forth. Perhaps I am feeling that the young kids don't mind my zaniness, in fact might even like it? Hmmm, that might indeed be a not-so-odd part of my INFP nature.

@@kirstenanderson608 Doing school reports was a million times worse than theatre. On stage the lights blind you and you can't really see anyone in the crowd. You are also pretending to be someone else and rehearse a million times. Standing in front of a classroom with ppl staring at me was always way worse 😂. I also emote when reading stories to kids! It's so much fun! My niece and nephews used to beg me to read to them when they were little. I always did funny voices for the different characters lol. And I always do silly voices and talk for animals. I'll make up what I think they would be saying if they could talk. It's so silly, but my husband finds it funny. I always wonder if other INFPs do it too. I also started to get my masters in library science, but I got married and never finished, so we sound very similar 😂. I wish I knew an INFP in real life. Like, everyone would talk about the next basketball game, but no one hears about, "Hey, Angelcat (not my real name) will be playing chess for bronze place at here or there." Judging from things my more extroverted friends have said, I had the edgy, cynical loner reputation among my classmates, but, speaking from myself, I was definitely quite studious. I really never had much trouble even through my masters degree. There were a couple classes I struggled in, but it wasn't that they were hard it's that they either made the class too early for me to do much since I worked midnights or they gave an overwhelming amount of homework. I've never really thought homework was a good idea and I've never really did more than the bare minimum to get by. I want to play games or read or something, what's the point of homework if you just talk yourself through and understand stuff you did in class then it's just not necessary.

Reason being that that's how I stand out, I get the best grades, I participate a lot in class, I tend to be competitive tbh, but I'm so shy it's not even funny. I'm currently in Highschool, so the pandemic didn't help. I went the first two years without actual friends, and then when I finally made 3 close friends, some circumstances led to me losing them. Now I hang out with only one (1) person and I can't even talk or barely make eye contact with anyone else, not even in group projects.

As an INFP i never understood why i was 'known.' there was always a rumor or talk about me and i never know it. The guy i have a crush on found out the day I 'told a friend.' Granted, I like achieving academically. Straight A's, and questionably teachers' favorite (I just try my best). I like presentation time (one way, no questions), joining the local chess event, intracampus declamations, intracampus solo-singing. But i never won. And when I did that, I remember i did that to help push myself to be able to communicate better. But it's a learnt skill. Perhaps that helped me be less shy, but still not very social enough. Some classmates think me weird, the group i hung out took me as a pushover, and the batchmates who only hear about me are intimidated. But no one really felt like they genuinely wanted to hang out. I'd have one or 2 friends at a time in a whole school year. And even they weren't constants. Once i had a friend who told me all her secrets, dating problems, etc. And i thought we were best friends until she left me. And then i realized, i was always asking about her, she never thought to ask about me. So, usually, I work best alone - haha. Not antisocial but very misunderstood for whatever reason

In a recent group project nobody was cooperating and this one person was way too passive aggressive to another person and while they both had great ideas, they wouldn't try and cooperate and put their ideas together because I think both of their ideas together could get us a Level 4 which our teacher rarely gives out. Although, because of the introverted part of me I ended up not really pointing that out and agreed to go ahead with our project even though it was very lacking.

@@Jaxan-dq2jy That's exactly how I felt while working on the group project, if nobody wants to cooperate then what can I do anyways? I think the thing about INFJs is that even though we know we have the ability to do something, we feel there would be too much energy used, too much conflict and too much redirecting like you said which is the introverted part of us which then brings forth the underachiever side of us.

@@lux_URIOUS I think that makes sense because I searched it up and: "INTJs base decisions on logic, while INFJs tend to consider the emotions" so INTJs like you probably feel the need to be perfect especially since you know you can be with more logical approaches to your situations while INFJs like me don't feel the need to be perfect nearly as much because we consider how we'd feel about things before we consider the logic needed to make our decision. I'm an ENFJ and this is way too true. For so many group projects, I've taken on most or all of the work silently, without telling the teachers that I was the one who did everything. I just cared too much about the work itself, as well as being worried that I would sour my relations with my groupmates if I just kept forcing them to do their parts to a level I believed to be satisfactory. I'm a bit too much of a people-pleaser in a way, not as in the manner of a teacher's pet but simply avoiding offending or inconveniencing them. It has made me a little salty about it as it continued happening, but at the same time, I couldn't help but silently resign myself to that cycle.

My ENFP formula = 6 different majors, 5 different schools and countless studios, across 12 years of college and post-grad coursework. The lesson here is to let a theater nerd major in theater as soon as she leaves high school. Telling an ENFP she needs "something to fall back on" will just ensure she tries every possible fall-back before leaving each one and ending up in drama school anyway. :D

I am an ENTP that leans most toward INTP if I were to be another type. Your description of both made sense for me. I'm a slower hesitant thinker like the INTP...but I'm sometimes crazy, multitalented, social, and artistic like the ENTP. I did in fact try out for the improv comedy group (and would have made it if I wasn't a senior when I did so). I wished I'd had done Speech or Debate. I was a main singer in the a cappella group...even into my college years too I sang. I played piano lessons for 9 years and voice lessons for 5. I was able to compose some songs and did a senior recital. I had some lead roles in musicals. I was also the MVP XC runner and swimmer in the school. I was known for saying absolutely absurd things that got many teachers to actually like me, with some hating me. I would always joke about having a bunch of drugs and getting high even though everyone knew that I didn't and would never take them. I bounced from social circle to social circle. However, I mostly stayed away from the popular kids even though I knew they respected me. I wasn't valedictorian, but I was in all honors classes and never looked at my grades. I didn't care. I was pursuing my interests/talents. I still finished with a 3.85 gpa. I am now finishing my bachelors degree in biochemistry in a few days and I've maintained good grades. I sang in the best choir and group in my university. Now I have ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA what I want to do with my life.🤣 Pretty sure I want more education, but I don't think I love biochemistry enough to want to get a PhD. In all honesty, I wish I could just become a podcaster/youtuber/comedian.

As an ENTP, I am reluctantly agreeing with your comment and the description in this video. Since I was a child I started jumping from one activity to the next one, never fully commiting to anything: - I had dance class during kindergarden, so I participated in many choreographies🕺. - Around that time, I was also into roller skating, and then never touch skates in years. - I tried soccer ⚽during elementary, then abandoned it when I felt it wasn't interesting anymore (everyone else was too obsessed with it). - I tried swimming 🏊‍♂ for a few years, and abandoned it when I moved, guess I just forgot I was a swimmer. - I joined my school's theater club 🎭, only for it to be disbanded after one show. - I played the flute in elementary school, then switched to guitar 🎸 during middle and highchool. - Since I enjoyed to perform a lot, I decided to participate in many highschool events that involved plays or choreos. - I should also mention, that I'm christian ✝, and have done church work since I was 15, taking a leadership role in the youth group. - I tried baseball ⚾during one month, only to never play it again afterwards. - I participated actively in class debates ⚖, those were the best days of social studies and philosophy. - I rejoined swimming, became part of a club and participated in several tournaments, even earning a gold medal once 🥇. - I was part of many social circles: the athletes 🏃‍♂ who were also the party animals 🎉, the k-pop fans who were also the smart kids 🧠, the weebs 🍙, etc. - Then 2020 happened, and I graduated top of my class 👨‍🎓 (online), I always had good grades, mostly because I wanted to best my class rival. - I struggled to pick my career path and tried to get into medicine because my dad is a doctor 👨‍⚕, but my State Exam score wasn't enough to get in. - I faced academic failure for the first time 😓, but somehow it didn't affect me that much, maybe because medicine didn't resonate with me at the time. - But, as an proud ENTP, I tried it again out of spite, and I got accepted with a full tuition scholarship 😎. - University has been fun so far: going to concerts, making loads of friends, getting good grades, competing with my best friend/new rival for top of the class, participating in more choreographies, going to the gym 🏋‍♂, learning about the human body and realizing that medicine does resonate with me. I was (still am) known for saying the most absurd and out of pocket things 🥴, my teachers have noticed, my friends have noticed, even my parents have said that my little mind is too compicated to understand. I was never considered the "weird kid", but if they knew half the things that were in my pretty head, they would have put me on a pysch ward already.

As an INTJ, his description of INTJs was very accurate. There are some subjects (Science and Math) I spend (beside paying attention in classes) nearly all of my free time to pre-learn or deepen the topic without getting tired or bored. In other classes (mostly languages) I never pay attention or do any homework and get tired if I just think about it. Surprisingly, I sometimes get better grades than the advantage, and I never understood why.

I'm an INFP and I actually participate a lot in class. Maybe it comes from 1) the fact that I'm 51% introvert and 49% extrovert at every test I take, and 2) my education, but I feel like not raising my hand when I know the answer is a missed opportunity. More than a missed opportunity, it frustrates me. It's like I need people to know that I know the answer. Most of my friends don't even try to understand the way I behave in class lol, I'm both always volunteering & super participative, AND an extremely anxious person when it comes to relationships (but that is more related to mental disorder I have). Hearing you mention theater is funny too. I love expressing myself, I'm not shy at all on stage and always want to do my best and act with a lot of confidence. Same with singing.

as an INTP currently studying in industrial design, I don't give shit if I get a bad grade in math or French (I'm French) or whatever, as long as it doesn't totally plumet my grades, and even if it does I'll probably still won't put any extra effort into it. Iv'e never studied for a test since junior-highschool , to me, if I can't get a good grade without forcibly learning just to forget everything a week later, there is no point. If I have to spend multiple hour learning the day before to do well on a test, the test is useless to me. trough the tests I want to know what I actually learned, not what I was able to awkwardly shove into my memory the day before. learning must come has a natural consequence of being interested in a subject and paying attention in class, not furiously shoving as much raw information as possible into that noggin of yours ! by doing that, you don't actually learn, you simply blindly memorize everything.

I am either INTP or INTJ. I always did/do the assigned work, though studying for tests was more like reading it once the day before the test. Most homework was done either last second or immediatly after assigned. I knew the roster and test schedules perfectly. Sometimes when bored in class I was a chapter ahead of the rest to the point the teachers did not allow me to do that anymore. So then I would be bored..............and play with my school supplies during class. Folding origami, doodling,...not really paying attention at all etc... I hated reading the same thing repeatedly just for the sake of a good grade, I just like learning things in general. So many times I tought when other students asked questions " ugh...That was already discussed last month, sheesh don't you remember and its right there in the book....just read that first for ffs."

I’m an INFP and I was absolutely the kid who sat in the back corner of the classroom who you forgot was in your class because I never talked to anybody and just spent all my time writing poetry and short stories but I totally was so eager every time a new school year came around and we had to introduce ourselves to our peers. I wanted to stand out and be interesting. I would put hard work into assignments where I’d have to present something in front of the class and make special effort to come across as unique. I always really liked school, both in learning new things and in getting to observe the strange behaviors of humanity on a daily basis.

Also I have no friends so you got that part right too.

Most subjects were propaganda due to post soviet country I am from. So I was studying from different books I was interested in. That is why I did not care about grades. However still I could manage to get good grades in fields I was interested in. E.g. physics. However that subject teaching was not as good as chemistry. The INTP is pretty accurate to me Admittedly I tried less in some subjects like math and chemistry due to being more interested in art and creative writing but anything aside from those? Well, I was definitely more interested in the learning part than the testing part. Honestly I could probably blame some of my struggles on the school's focus on grades rather than actually giving students time to learn and invest in the subjects being taught TwT If only

Very accurate with the INTP. I was an A and B student the first semester. Then, after winter break, the teachers would review and do busy work and start teaching to the test. I would then space out. I would not do the busy work, waste of time, I'd rather be in the library the whole second semester, then spend two weeks learning what was taught in the whole 4 months of review, busy work and test-prep. This got me held back in 7th grade. Also if the teacher was... shallow in knowledge, I would ignore that class. I just wanted to learn, not jump through hoops to make the teacher look good. If you looked at my tests, I aced them, frustration abounded through out my whole school career. I took my GED test before I even entered into Highschool. I went to Highschool because I wanted to learn. What I learned is, if you go to school strictly to learn and not for the goal of earning your diploma, then you will be sorely disappointed. There were good teachers who taught very well and were very knowledgeable, but most were not, and my school's goal was to funnel as many students as possible into the local university. There whole curriculum was geared towards what the university wanted. Not towards a well rounded eduation and not towards prepareration for adult life. I left and went to Tech-School. Let's just say my time in the Public Education System has left me bitter. I homeschool my kids.

My energy is all over the place so I'd be super productive only in small parts, generally the last minute. I also changed ideas frequently and tended to take over projects because of it. One of the worst examples was a Year 9 Geography project in which we worked on a natural disaster and at the last minute I changed my mind about what I wanted us to do and re-did the whole project by myself. I was hoping to discover that I broke stereotypes but I was on the debating team. Also I was lazy academically and still was top 4 in my year...sorry everyone else. I think that's happen because we haven't understand the timing in improving and deciding. We thought it's okay to improve this part or that part since we still have many time. But if we could figure out clearly how the improvement affect the to do list, it could make us decide better whether we really want to improve or not. After learnt project management, I really enjoy to lead many projects in the same time, because it's being so clear about the real deadline in improving & deviding. One of the most things I like is, I don't need to do other's job only to make sure the idea is being executed lol

As an INTP I've had straight As but I'm a huge procrastinator and I hate and I suck at projects and group work, and I get straight As mostly because I have a big motivation

I love this! I'm a teacher now and I have to teach some classes with a co-teacher (ESL). I'm ALWAYS evaluating how everything can be done more efficiently but instead of speaking up, I just steep in the inefficiency. I've tried to make my ideas known but it turns out most people find it offensive to have their ideas and work methods questioned. Also, I was a competitive dancer and a theater/choir kid in school and I can confirm, the tech kids, especially sound engineers, love feeling in control! And if they are good at it, they might just be the most important person in that room! In my thespian troop, our sound guy had so many points, they had to invent a new rank for him.

INTJ is shockingly accurate for me. I never studied like ever, and had never had anything lower than an A-, and even then it damaged my ego.🗿I always just sat in the back of the class playing unblocked games and watchingKZbin. Also I was considered to be one of the "gifted" kids, which makes me agree even more on the fact that it makes being an adult, or growing up in general harder, because you realize either you weren't actually smart, or that you can't coast through life the same you did school.

Spot on for INFJ! When people ask if I had a lot of friends in school, I feel like a major jerk saying "Well a large number of people thought that I was their close friend but I personally only had a couple friends that I considered close". I feel so conceited saying that but your description of INFJ's made me feel better 😁 thank God I'm not a jerk! Haha

As an ENTP I can say that I'm not killing it at school. I was before high school but now I just can't get myself to do anything because I usually didn't have to do much to succeed but now that I would actually have to put in at least a minimal amount of effort I can't because I perfected my procrastination skills. It's getting better tho

In school I was a socially awkward geeky ISTJ. Funnily enough, I did join drama club in high school, and it was a perfect fit! They helped me to loosen up and exposed me to a wide variety of personalities and viewpoints.

As an INTP, this is so accurate I like researching more on the topics I like and the things I'm interested that I always forget that there is an assignment in the first place. Meanwhile, my boyfriend is an ENTP. He likes to prove his point and most of the time even though he doesn't review he always get good grade. Then lastly, my mom is an ENTJ and she always want to be above other people like having jobs in the executive offices. However, that's also her problem since she always overpowers her boss. She also does not like when people can't keep up with her which gives me a hard time while studying since she always tell me how she can finish many things at the same time and I can't.

Spot on Frank! As an INFJ I was an exceptional student, mostly because I just did what I was supposed to do; don’t have to be a super genius or anything to make straight As. I also was the person who thought I didn’t have many friends, but lots of people actually considered me to be a friend and adored me. I would fall asleep to my talents and didn’t act onto my full capabilities because I got easily drained and overwhelmed by how these things potentially might pan out. It was easier to keep quiet and stay in the background…I actually still do this with a lot of things, but I’m trying not to hold myself back anymore and just go for it! It’s interesting to see and match my former classmates with your descriptions as well lol.

As an INTP, I do love diving into the topics most comforting for me, but grades have always been hugely important, I'm a straight A student. Though, that's due to my self esteem problems, I guess. Like... As long as I'm that awful in social life, grade is the only thing that can prove that I'm worthy, even though I despise the system and think it's dumb as hell... That sounds even sadder when I say It like that :")

yeah esfp gang. tru was involved in literally everything in my school be it music, orchestra, sports likw volleyball fb and bb, or leadership i was exec vice for my student association as well as class pastor (christian school), and took AP’s. Thank god i was blessed with intelligence or with my personality I’d be struggling academically whilst focusing on nonacademic stuff haha. Something i wish i did more was make friends with my lowerclassmen but tbh they were weird. But tru hate to in a single friend group it gets repetitive sometimes, love em tho sounds like bragging but honestly we just wanna do everything and experience everything and everyone

As an INFP, I was the quietest one in class, always writing everything down and doing all the homework but studying only English with passion (I was the best at it). The rest I didn't really care about, it was simple: go to the lesson--do everything the teacher says--do the homework. I hated maths, chemistry etc.. Cheated only on these subjects and rarely, and when I did, I hated it. Scared to speak up and often answering incorrectly on purpose when asked bc I was too afraid and shy. Often the teachers would mark me as absent when I wasn't and somehow they haven't learnt my name throughout all the years. Also, I'd always been feeling like I'm much smarter than the others but thinking no one else realised it. Now I'm at the university and I'm more sociable. That's it haha

As an INFP I can say that I got portrayed perfectly. I am either one or the other of the two sides, depending on which class I am in right now and especially how comfortable I am with the teacher and the other students.

You're so right about INFPs. I was shy and absent a lot in high school, but I had random friends across different cliques even though I mostly stuck to my main few best friends... On the other hand, I also loved wearing high heels and pretty dresses, so I somehow got voted for "Best Dressed" in high school despite being shy and not even knowing the people who voted for me lol
