''Camillus: the second founder or the second tyrant?'' Camillus was elected dictator a whopping five times during his life. Dictators were appointed by the Roman Senate in case of emergencies: in our time period the Sacking of Rome and the war with Veii -- the latter of which Lionheart did remarkably quickly, seeing it took Rome several decades. Camillus was well on his way to becoming a ''dictator pro vita'', a ''dictator for life'', as later Julius Caesar would. Camillus did indeed use his dictatorial powers to ensure the safety and rebuilding of Rome. After defeating Veii, he held a magnificent triumphal parade in Rome and erected several temples. The Senate gradually became to see him as a demagogue, a ''tamer of the people''. Camillus would install himself as a pseudo-king, something that didn't bother the people all that much, since they benefitted from the stability; the Senate, however, stood to lose much of its influence. Fortunately for the Senate, Camillus died of pestilence in 385 before Christ. Unfortunately for the Senate, most of the senatorial class also died from the disease. Karma. As we move on, I will dive into Roman politics and legends a bit more, since its inequalities and rules played into this specific era a lot. :)

You should reinforce Veii with that army in Rome and set up a makeshift defense force due to the strength of the wall. You should also try to head for Antium while skirting the forest in ambush to try to draw out their forces and possibly wipe out their main force. Rome you can have be sieged due to the special modifier where the enemy has to siege it twice to get it, allowing you time to move back and defend your capital. Try to establish as many trade routes and focus on buildings that give you income, early game you need money to keep going.

Lionheart, Ambushes in Rome 2 work like this: the ambushed army is stuck on an AI-controlled "route" that it walks along with every unit at the same speed, until the ambushing army reveals itself (through moving units or shooting missiles). Once that happens, the ambushed army is able to be controlled by normal. It works the same for the AI and for the player.

Move the small force at Rome to Veii to defend (take what mercenaries you can), but swap the general's unit for the veteran Centuriae - they'll be far more useful in a defensive seige than cavalry will (you saw first hand how strong the Veii general's infantry unit was in the last episode during the siege - over 500 kills or something?), and I think you will just about survive, but you'll need to fight it very well! As for Camillus, think you have to be brave and attack Fregellae now whilst you have the chance; defeat that army, and using the fast replenishment you have, you should be able to quickly march on Antium with enough forces to take it before the army there builds up :)

mackindle12345 no chance in hell he gets there before it's rebuilt, it will be a stack of 12 by next turn, meaning after fregellae he has two turns to get there before it's a full stack, he'll replenish in exactly that amount of time. Best option is to try peace, if that doesn't work then attack fregellae then sue for peace and fall back to defend against the sabines

I know this is an older vid but I would suggest only using lock formation/formation attack in certain situations.You are losing many men to wacky charges. make sure your men are lined correctly and charge as a unit. Braveheart charges only work with cetain types of units

@lionheartx10 On your agents (spies, champions, patricians,) you took the upgrades as they came but neglected to add a household character on the pane just to the left of those upgrades--I'm referring to the pane in the center of the agent character screen. That's a free upgrade you aren't taking, and I think they're strong upgrades comparable to the ones in the right pane. The difference is you can change the household card from time to time as special skills are needed

Hey Lionheart I don't think you realized that during that last end turn your allies took Fregellae. That explains the weakened garrison and the dissappearance of your allie's 2nd army. This means that the 20 stack might be weakened which would aid in taking them out. As your council, my recommendation is to take Fregallae. Destroy the Volscii's 20 stack and then take their capital. In regards to Veii, Mercenary up and fight a defensive battle within city walls. (Recruiting the other general's unit might be better for a defensive attack in the city)

Want to drown in money? Focus on farms and agriculture temples in minor settlements and the fillers either yellow or industry depending on the settlement uniques. Then in the capital settlements build a temple of jupiter for culture and public order. Then get one industry building, depending on bonuses. Then get the food yellow building and then the yellow trade one. For recruitment provinces, focus on balancing food and public order and in the capital settlement focus on the military temple and you're good. After you grab a few provinces with this setup you'll start to drown in money. Also consider moving the prophet agent into an army and focus his abilities on getting upkeep bonuses, it will grab you ton on extra money. Let the champion agents focus on public order and let them work in provinces that need public order. Hope this helps, keep up the great videos.

Seems like the Sabians full stack army are going for Veii. So better sacrifice Veii for now. Build up the army of Spurius in Rome with infantry and range units you can get. Meanwhile make maximum use of the dictator powers of Camilus (longer movement and faster replenishment), hit Fergellae and Antium, raze both settlements to the ground and head back to Rome, deal with the Sabians. BTW don't kill off Spurius. He can be a solid second army under the family name, could be handy in a future civil war.

Buildings from other culture groups still give you everything. But be carefull with temples of other religions, cause they will spread a different religion, so I would recommend u to always destroy temples from other cultures and military buildings (cause u can't recruit any different cultured units I think), but you can keep other buildings like farms from other factions. Bare in mind that u will not be able to upgrade them however

I'm 4 months too late but you should have postponed the war against the Volsci, even if it meant losing the Hernici. They weren't your allies yet (no moral dilemma) and you could have taken Anagni for yourself while on the way to Fregellae or Casinum. Or you could have waited until the complete destruction of the Volsci. Once the Hernici lost their only army, they stopped being potential allies.
