Cyanoacrylate ('super glue' aka 'crazy glue') combines with sodium bicarbonate ('bicarb', baking soda) to emit toxic fumes. Use this method only in well ventilated areas, preferably outdoors. The problem with the plug at the end is that the post he replaced was the ground plug, so while the glue plug will help hold it into the outlet, it won't ground the circuit and therefore is completely unsafe. That and the fact that he probably used $3 worth of glue and an hour of his time when he could have just bought a new plug for $2.
@bellend702 Жыл бұрын
The top pin or earth was made of plastic to start with so no earth circuit would have been made anyway. The reason it helps is the earth pin is longer than the live and neutral and when pushed into the socket it opens the blocking mechanism to allow access to the L and N holes. UK plugs, eh?

That is a U.K. a plug for a double insulated device, the earth (ground) pin was plastic to start with as the device doesn’t require an earth connection by design. The plastic pin is there only to open the shutters we have on mains outlets. In other international markets that sort of device may be fitted with a two pin plug. I still don’t think it’s a great idea in this example because if the home made pin snaps off it renders the socket unsafe and unusable.

Just what I needed to fix the cocking latch on my crossbow. =) Kept snapping off with only the glue.. This time I put baking soda inbetween the pieces, then put some on top of the switch piece itself, and then sanded it all down to a slightly larger, but fitting latch, I even added black dye, so you can't even tell unless you look really close. :D
