I don’t he ever necessarily forgot but had Mark not gotten his powers, Nolan could’ve just lived on Earth with his family and carried out his plans after their deaths-which is what I think is what I think he was going for. Everything started when Mark got powers and Omni Man realized things would never be same. I still don’t get why he didn’t raise Mark differently if he already assumed his half Viltrumite DNA would give him those abilities. He was shocked but quite knowledgeable about it so begs the question of why he didn’t do things differently?
@Regless00002 жыл бұрын
@@ambassadorbruh1200 I might be misremember but I think viltrumite abilities usually start showing up early puberty. Mark was an unusually late bloomer. As for why his didn't raise Mark differently, He didn't know if Mark would get his powers for sure or not. The over-simplification human cells have two copies of each chromosome. One from each parent. Genes are either dominant or recessive. The dominant gene will basically override the recessive gene (Brown eyes overriding blue eyes for example). Dominance doesn't control what gets passed on as much. So in Mark's case, even though he has Viltrumite DNA and it's very potent (Dominant) if he had kids he could still end up pass only the human set he got from his mom on. Or the Viltrumite DNA could be recessive when paired with Mark's new spouse although I imagine that's more a concern when dealing with new species. That's why Nolan wanted to wait until he was sure.

When Debbie revealed what she knew to Nolan, told him she didn't trust him, he was pissed off. He punched a hole into a wall in his own home because, as disciplined as he is, he could not fully contain that anger. The next day, was just so pissed instead of walking outside to fly away, he just blasted off straight up out of the living room. But he did not so much as raise a hand to Debbie. While fighting the kaiju (tentacle monster thing) with Mark, did you see his face? When The Immortal came in and kept preventing him from helping Mark as Mark was getting beat by that monster? He was afraid for Mark. Omniman knew how dangerous that beast was, he was afraid it might actually be able to kill his boy. The whole rampage of slaughtering civilians while fighting Mark? He was trying to convince not only Mark, but himself, that all of this was necessary. He knew how horrible he was being. And in the end, when it came down to his son or his people, he chose his son. But he also knew at that point that he had done so many awful things, quite publicly, that there was no "going back to normal", he burned that bridge pretty thoroughly. And still, he chose his son over his people, and left. Invincible and Arcane have one interesting thing in common: a villain who's weak point is their child.

Mark raising his hands might be one of the bravest choices anybody ever made in a superhero story, which is especially impressive since usually those are choices made by people who *aren't* superheroes themselves. I sobbed helplessly first time I saw Mark answer his father's question. And it gets even worse when he asks "... dad?" Because he's hurt and he needs his father. I loved Black Samson's "test" of the Guardians - to see if they'd stick up for the least popular among them, if they really were committed to each other. If he'd been serious, he wouldn't have joined in cleaning up with the others. I'd never heard "We Are Infinite" until this, but talk about perfect use of licensed music. He's thousands of years old, yeah. Mark not being pure-blooded is just a technicality. Mark truly is incredible. This was straight up the most heroic thing I have seen done in superhero media. Sure it takes courage to fight for what's right, but usually heroes in these kinds of stories, can get a few punches in too. Here, our boy has the courage to go into a hopeless fight, and no matter how near to death he gets beaten, he stayed true to the right thing. At a point he had to realize that his dad was going to kill him, but he never said "alright, have it your way". That's more inspiring than just knocking out some big bad guy. Mark is invincible, in that he gets his shit kicked in every other fight, but he always gets back up afterwards. God I hope season 2 manages to be as good as this. This adaptation is wildly different from the source material, so it's pointless to guess how things will go. I just hope they do to seasons 2 and 3, what they did here.

48:22 Being a perfect human being is one thing, being a DECENT human being is another. Come on, people. Shitty behaviour is shitty behaviour. We don't need to make excuses for it. I'm not saying that Amber is Omni-man level (which is insane if people are actually making that claim). However, given that she was aware of what he was doing and what his responsibilities may have been we should at the very least be able to acknowledge that for her the react as she did was unbelievably selfish and super manipulative. My assumption is that this may have been the result of just a weird writing decision by the staff for the show, because her being that massive of a turd came out of left field to me. But if this pattern continues throughout season 2 and beyond, then yeah...she sucks.

Being a teenager doesn't excuse Amber for being a shitty person, she's manipulative and possessive, she blackmailed a student just to get Mark's number and she wasn't even really interested in him until she saw him hanging out with Eve.. but sure, people overreact lol. Mark deserved better and he will soon...

@qawamity2 жыл бұрын
She didn't blackmail anyone to get Mark's number, William straight up offered to give it to her. Did she blackmail another student? Yes. It was the guy that beat Mark down, Todd, which he did because Mark tried to stop him from sexually harassing Amber. All she did was make him apologize to Mark and give Mark her number. That was a power move. She put the bully/harasser in his place, and demonstrated to Mark respect (by forcing the punk to apologize) and interest (making the punk give him Amber's number). (She really put the Todd in his place. Not only did she use her power over him to make him apologize to someone he wronged, it was the guy that tried to defend her from his unwanted advances. Who she also forced Todd to give her phone number to, clearly demonstrating how uninterested in Todd she was.) Possessive? Don't see it. She was curious to get to know him, though. Guy was an enigma to her, she wanted to figure him out. And she did. She also treated Mark as if she believed his excuses. Either she was right about her guess and Mark was just bad at lying, or she was wrong and just fed her stupid excuses. When it got to the point where she couldn't take the shit anymore, she broke up with him. After everything she'd tolerated, being treated like she wasn't important, being fed obvious lies... She was done. She felt that if she really was important to him he would have told her the truth, but he didn't. But, hey, teenagers. Teenagers suck. Mark's first relationship. First relationships often don't go well, people are just learning. And Mark was doing it with the difficulty cranked way up. Not sure about Amber's dating history. At any rate, a lot of guys think Amber was upset that Mark was busy saving people/the world was making him late for dates and such. She wasn't. She was upset because *he was lying to her*. For almost half a year she tolerated it, before she reached a breaking point, and concluded that she obviously wasn't important enough to Mark for him to reveal the truth. As I see it, they both fucked up. Her expectations were too high and Mark treated the relationship as a hobby.

Amber you were siding with Amber because Mark had kept secrets from her. Mark's a teenager, Mark's the same age as her. If you want to say "chill she's a teenager" then hold the same standard for Mark as well and say the truth about it, they both fucked up. The only difference is this though. Amber didn't want anything to do with Mark until he became interesting to her and got international attention on him. Mark wanted to date Amber well before he knew anything about her and cared about her. Lets be honest, you'd definitely not be saying "lets chill she's a teenager" if the Sexes were swapped and that's fine, it's understandable why you'd do that. Just be honest about it.

note how they can't just ignore it and move on.... the reason for this is rather simple, the Amber question shows a level of inherent bias in a certain section of the population that believe it's ALWAYS okay when a woman does something and its ALWAYS bad when a man does something even if they make the identically opposite arguments for one compared to the other. It's sort of a clue when you know that the person you're talking to doesn't have the ability or understanding of representing things evenly. and like I said its' perfectly okay to do this, women are hypergamous by nature and they seek to make themselves both infallible and victimised at the same time. Remember they don't care as long as they are the one "in the right" even if "in the right" means contradicting what they just said a minute ago.

What is truly Invincible about Mark is his heart. Even after everything that Omniman has done to him, he still has the love in his heart to call him Dad. This is the episode was incredible. It was a testament to a post Oedipus post Shakespearean idea that all strong willed men WILL ONE DAY HAVE TO FIGHT HIS FATHER, for his own identity. I know a few my male friends including myself who have had that strange right of passage, and no this does not always happen. But when it does it feels like that episode.Your father thinks what is best for you. Yet when you are younger you want to make your own way. I did not speak to my before this episode. We're cool now and I am almost 50. There is a great quote about this and I might be paraphrasing but it goes Men will spend a life time either wanting to be like their father or be nothing like them.

@@lucasbroome4148 Doesn't matter. If yall can say Amber was a jerk because she knew Mark was Invincible, then the same applies to Omniman. Mark didn't know what was really going on, so he should have trusted his dad and sided with him.
@lucasbroome41482 жыл бұрын
@Old Leroy Right of course. Except it does matter. Nolan didn’t explain the whole story believe it or not. Viltrum drains a planet’s resources dry, leaving civilizations with nothing left. The rest they take as prisoners and use them as cannon fodder during times of war. People aren’t angry at Amber because she knew Mark’s identity. They were angry because she was not empathetic with Mark’s situation. If one wrong person finds out who his secret identity is, his home is his #1 target. And seeing as how Invincible would likely be incredibly famous by this point in the story, there will be controversy about him. It’s undeniable Also Nolan technically hit mark first

Season 2 premieres sometime at the start of 2023 (a 3rd season is planned and greenlit as well). I know its a long time in a sense, but bear in mind that this is animation, and it takes longer to make than the average of 6-8 months of production that usually happens with live action projects. Also if you like Sandra Oh as an actress, I highly suggest the Killing Eve series. Its 3 seasons, but its completed with a final ending and all of that.

Excellent vid, ladies! I especially appreciated your analysis of Nolan during the post-episode discussion. I agree completely, too.... it really felt like he was in full denial during his rampage. I mean, what he did was beyond reprehensible, no doubt about that.... but despite all the carnage he caused, he's not quite a heartless monster, either. I think it's clear he even feels guilty about his actions.... but alas, he still came from a race of powerful space barbarians, and I don't think it's so easy to shake off that darker side of his nature. Here's to hoping Nolan's character is further explored in the next season (and yes, I am aware that the comic exists, but unfortunately, I haven't the time or money to get invested in that for the moment)....
