I can relate. I went to a cafe on my campus and they were serving a sandwich with "roast beef" in the menu name. The cafe had served roast beef sandwiches before, so I chose that option. Then when I bit into it, it didn't taste like beef. Turns out it was "roast beef style" seitan (a wheat based meat substitute). Contrary to marketing, seitan absolutely does not taste like meat at all. and to this day I am haunted by this experience.
