The hearing protection feature on the air pods is by far what I’m most excited about. I really hope there’s an option to attenuate the sound in a controllable fashion. For example, if I could wear my air pods to a concert, but lower the volume level be 15 dB. That would be awesome.

So far it’s not so much customizable, however you can use adaptive noise control and toggle on the lower loud sounds and it will maintain your hearing within an acceptable range.

Still plenty of bugs. I'm working in Asia so I didn't get the hearing test or assistance settings. The update also broke the custom transparency mode with the audiogram on my 15PM. The option to add an audiogram is now gone. Oddly enough it still works as normal on my M1 iPad. I can adjust amplification and ambient controls on the iPad but my phone does nothing. I've worked on this for hours without any success.

You will have to go to Settings > select Apple Intelligence and Siri > join waitlist. Note: only iPhone 15 Pro / iPhone 16 range will get this update.

Call recording is available to phones as low as the 11 series models. Although if you live in the EU, then you won’t have it right now, regardless of which iPhone you’re using.

FYI, most features for 18.1 are NOT on the iphone 14 pro series or earlier models, like touching up/cleaning up photos or a beefed up new AI intelleince Siri. We're out of luck if you want to use those new features as our older phones dont have the hardware needed to run that fun stuff.....sigh

Highly recommend for the customized app arrangement on pages and control panel, imo iphones have been clones of each other for too long and I like my phone looking different even if it’s just app layout around wallpapers. Downside yes it’s buggy and I hate the changes on the photo app but it’s worth it to me.

That's because you need to enable the beta for Apple Intelligence in the settings and then wait to actually be accepted. I have the 16 Pro Max and I will not be enabling this feature. I will wait for it be rolled out en masse before I mess with it.

Do you want to see screenshots of my notes app? They also don't have to *agree*. When you press record, it announces to both parties that it is being recorded. They don't have to audibly confirm this. They just have to know that it is happening. Just like when you call a business line and a record (or a person) says "this call is being recorded for quality assurance." Same thing here.

Not at all impressed with 18.1's "AI" features. For example, the create memories function in photos doesn't work well (produces disjointed videos, doesn't' find photos well, etc). It seems Apple rushed this out by slapping some AI nomenclature on features in attempts to join the AI bandwagon.

Still another iOS with broken code. Since 2013, Tim Cook broke the lock screen wallpaper code, which was working in all iOS prior to iOS 7.0. In other words, Steve Jobs iOS software worked and when Tim Cook took over, all Tim Cook iOS was broken in some way. So pick your favorite photo on your iPhone of the side view of your favorite car... that should be a wide aspect ratio photo (wider than tall). Try to assign that to your lock screen photo and your background photo... try and use their move and scale to fit it to the viewable area of the screen. You can't and Apple has refused to fix this since 2013. That's going on 12 years of intentional broken code with customers calling in to ask them to fix it and their response from engineering being, "this is how Apple wants this code". That's intentionally breaking code that worked (both assigning parameters of the photo to the viewable area of the screen, and turning off move and scale so you can't fix it when it shoots off the edges of the viewable area). What tech company intentionally breaks their own code... Apple and only under Tim Cook.
