Finally, a truthful assessment of Cade. Cade’s strength is leadership, protecting the offense (minimizing negative plays), and checking into the right plays/protection. However, everything else you saw on Saturday, Michigan fans saw consistently throughout his Michigan career. He needs a dominant run game, short/quick passing game, and great defense to be highly successful. Go look at his 2021 season stats and/or games.

Penn State had the patience against Delaware to run 91 plays and 34 first downs with really no big plays and no turnovers. Yes, even Delaware had to be treated with respect as they took away anything deep. Why not treat Iowa with even more respect as Iowa most certainly deserves. But Allar is young and we shall see in such a hyped environment and he hears the whispers for sure of “where are the big plays”? If it wasn’t for Iowa, Penn State’s tight ends would get more notoriety but tip the cap to Iowa at that position. Don’t know if Penn State can sustain long drives with a wet ball

The thing that annoyed me the most on the jet sweep there is there was no fake hand off going up the middle. Nothing to draw the eyes away from the jet sweep guy. It was totally telegraphed. The times it is the most successful is when you fake the hand off to draw the eye of the D inside and then you had it to the guy coming around. At least on TV it was easy to see where the ball was going and that is super annoying. One easy way Iowa could improve on offense is to be better at misdirection. Many times on play action going back as long as I can remember Iowa's fake hand offs are obvious.

Reminder to Mr. Ferentz is some coaching genius and Franklin is a bozo so we always have a shot in that matchup: the dude who just got beat downs only wins against Franklin have come from either (1) Clifford’s injury or (2) Covid. Unless our QB get hurt, or a global pandemic occurs, it’s a PSU W.

Iowa fans just a careful consideration. Since the Paterno era .. 2000 .. stupid Covid year and Penn State was in the middle of an 0-5 start and obviously was not into the season. 2001 .. you saw Franklin’s only fireable offense was not having a backup QB ready. The Franklin vs Ferentz thing is a bad take. Yurcich calls the offensive plays and Diaz the defense. This is the first time in the Franklin era that Penn State has a decent oline and depth with talent at all position groups. Took this long to recover from the sanctions to have depth like the elite teams

The Hawks have to win the turnover/takaway battle and establish the run game. That's a tall order with this stout PSU defense. But apparently it's supposed to rain on Saturday, so I don't expect either team to be slinging it the whole time. We'll need to play our most complete game in order to have a chance.

I think Iowa is going to win. I know all of y’all reporters try to be as realistic as possible, but I hate hearing die hard fans admit that they think the opposition is going to win. Especially when we don’t have a bad team. Now if this was last year that would be a little different, but still… Go Hawks either way
