We gotta give thanks to the Boone & Scenic Valley for preserving a portion of this railroad.

If it wasn't for them then basically no remnants of the line would still exist today

This interurban line lasted through the early 1950’s! We are thankful that George Niles chose to make colour film of The Fort Dodge Line, using a movie camera!

We sure are! He outdid himself.

As a child my parents road the interurban to Des Moines many times. Since we lived on 2nd Ave South in Ft Dodge 1 block from train station on 1st Ave South and 14th Street

Great video. I'm a fan of the FDDM&S. I have a wonderful book about the railway that came out a few years ago. Also, that automated gypsum mine operation was interesting.

Thank you! Yeah, that Gypsum mine was really unique. Probably nothing like it around today.

My dad worked for the Des Moines Union RR in the early 50s. They probably knew each other.

Wow! I bet they did. George was a huge fan of the FDDMS.

The leased Rock Island switcher and the Minneapolis & St. Louis switcher are nice catches because they are EMC Winton 201 powered SC models.
