iPad Pro 9.7 vs 12.9? - While I'm Making Coffee #2

Ever since hearing the rumours about iPad Air 3 and the possibility of a smaller, 9.7" iPad Pro I've been thinking a lot about which is best. Will the next 9.7" iPad be compatible with Apple Pencil? What will it be called? Will the iPad Air series still continue? Who will buy the 12.9" model is there is a smaller, more convenient model available?
All this and more, all while making delicious coffee.

For whatever reason Apple saw fit to include 4GB RAM in the larger one - I wonder why. I wonder if maybe pro content creators like AutoCAD users will be limited in working set size by the 2GB in the 9.7". The resolutions are different, but the framebuffer difference would be a few dozen megs at most.

I think you described the best selling point for a 9.7" iPad Pro. For jotting down ideas. I own an iPad Pro and, while I do like it enough to keep, it simply isn't "convenient" enough to take around. Its too big, its too heavy and it takes way too long to charge. An iPad Air with pencil and smart keyboard support would be perfect.

Yes indeed! At home I'd find 9.7" too small but on trains or in cafes I'd much prefer a small device :)

+NihongoGamer Actually, theres nothing "special" about stylus support that should make it excluded from ANY future iOS devices. So, not only should the Air3 support it, but also the Mini5 and even the iPhone 7. The Pencil communicates through Bluetooth so all the "complicated stuff" is in the $100 pencil itself. So any future product excluding the pencil would be silly because not only does Apple get yet another profitable accessory to sell, users would have the convenience of jotting down notes or making sketches regardless of what new hardware they own. Its win-win.

In Denmark there's a word, 'hygge', which doesn't translate into English but is basically the feeling you get when you're, for example, in great company, or alone reading a good book, drinking tea or coffee, etc. This video is just all hygge! Damn first time watching your video and love how crisp and fluid it is, like I'm there. Second, really itching for a 12.9 ipad pro. It is an absolute wet dream of mine. The huge screen, super thin yet solid design, great specs all around. As an artist, it can get really tough to draw on traditional media due to all the cumbersome material to carry, the delicate nature of the medium, etc. but this makes it so much more convenient and also saves you money since you dont have to buy all the material. One screen, one pencil, yet infinte possibilities such as toned paper, pencil, pen, brush, any color possible. Arghhh need a job!!!!

if you're going to make Vietnamese coffee, i'd recommend drinking it with small to moderate amount of condensed milk according to your tastes, but seeing as how you drink yours black (which is perfectly fine) that's OK too. I bought Hawaiian coffee when I was on vacation there and it's really good. The aroma is so good after you grind it (most good quality coffee beans smell heavenly after it's ground). I drink Maxim Korean instant coffee when I get lazy to do all the drip coffee procedures. The UCC coffee can coffee is great too. I would pick those up for work or school (back when I was in college). cheers and great vid~

thats an interesting point about the tilt angle for the apple pencil shading to kick in, never noticed it before. When shading i always tilt all the way :P

+Aaron Goy I noticed it because I sometimes draw with a very shallow angle. There are many ways to hold a pencil which allow for a steadier grip but don't result in shading. Sadly doesn't work in the notes app...yet. I'm hoping they update the sensitivity some day :)

IPad Pro 12.9 inch is the best for drawing and watching at home but it's little difficult to take it outside if there is a proper bag for IPad Pro 12.9 inch it will by amazing I like to Draw at coffee shop or at train. What is your favorite place to draw? By the way the coffee was amazing

Just so you know, the ideal water temp for making coffee is 93ºC. Any more and you scald the coffee grains.

In my country, 9.7 iPad Pro is A LOT affordable than the 200$ difference in US. I'm so happy that Apple released it, I'm definitely going to buy it with Pencil. I'm unsure about getting 32 or 128 too. I just wanna install apps like Procreate, Medibang, Adobe apps, KZbin and one or two big games maybe. I've been using a 32GB phone for a while and I just couldn't fully use the storage. Do you think 32GB would be enough for someone getting it essentially for drawing? I really want to hear opinions. Thanks! ^^

+Randall Sol on my 12.9" iPad Pro the 128gb is really useful for video editing, but apart from that and storing my DSLR photos I find the space unnecessary. That being said, the 9.7" will be a much more convenient size for gaming so I think having less than 64gb would be inconvenient if you love games too :)

NihongoGamer​ Yes I do love games. Also I have a big iTunes music library. I think I'm going to push my budget for the 128GB so I can download anything and don't worry about running out of storage. Shot in v-log on the gh4 then colour corrected and sharpened in post with a 20 Mbps export but to be honest I think KZbin compresses it to a max of 12 Mbps. Who knows, maybe they've upped the standard 60fps bit rate :)

I got the 64GB cellular so I can get good money for it if I'd sell it and then just get the 32GB Ipad pro 9.7 /Pro mini. But the must for me are the 4 speakers. I really want better speakers. The +0.05 cm (half millimeter) doesn't really matter to me.

So the 9.7 in iPad Pro is here and it has only 2GB of RAM. Do you know how many layers at slightly higher than native resolution we could have with that in Procreate? I think for serious stuff we need at least 10 layers :x

+AniverrA Indeed having only 2gb of ram is a bit of a shame. But on iPad Pro 12.9" at A4 size Procreate can use 57 layers so, I assume the iPad Pro 9.7" will support something like 30 layers at the same resolution. I'll be testing it out soon :)
