Many people mistakenly follow advice from youtubers to maintain battery health by not charging beyond 80% and avoiding drops below 20%. However, this practice often leads to excessive charging throughout the day, which can indeed be counterproductive for battery longevity. It's important to strike a balance between avoiding excessive charges and not letting your device's battery level drop too low consistently.

When I had my iPhone 11 Pro Max, I pretty much strictly used the 20w fast charger, rarely using 5w, and keeping my battery mainly between 30-80%. Had the phone for about 4 years and battery health was 88%. Just wanted to share my experience, maybe keeping the battery between 30-80% is key? I think I remember the battery health taking a hit whenever I went 100% or it dead the few times over the years.

i am currently using an iphone 13 as my first iphone after around 7 years of being an android user. all these battery health thing is new to me and i just try to compile as many inputs as possible. i have come to a conclusion that using wireless charger is not a recommended thing to do regularly as there is a lot of power being unused and lot of heat are being generated compared to traditional wired charging. as for the watt i believe using 5W charger will highly limit my comfort in using my phone, i will just avoid charging overnight and wait for the morning to charge since it is already a fast charging so i know i will have time before i need to go somewhere. i also try to avoid wireless magsafe powerbank as the heat from powerbank combined with the heat of the phone will damage the battery health drastically based on the experience of the people i have read online. nonetheless, i hope my way of charging is good and would allow my iphone to be at its best performance through the next 3+ years. nice entertaining but still informative video dion, thanks.

Hey @dion . 100% battery capacity for an iPhone 14 pro after 1 year. How? Based on the calculations made and applied we lose 1% battery every 25 complete cycles (0-100%) charge which is 4% every 100 complete cycles. Apple’s website suggests that an iPhone will retain up-to 80% of its original battery capacity after the first 500 cycles I am sure that the data shown here isn’t quite right. I use an XR which is 4 years old and my current battery capacity reads at 87% which by the way is incorrect. In reality when I did the math it stands at 85.09%. I checked my current battery cycle count from the analytics logs and checked cracked the current percentage by my phone’s nominal charging capacity by its Max Charging Capacity. I am sure the same applies to your iPhone 14 pro too.

I have an Iphone 14 pro max, and after 1 year and 6 months battery percentage is at 90%, is it ok??? Also few months a go it was 100% but then suddenly when it went to 99% , it has been dropping 2% to 3% battery health every month is that ok or is there a problem with my phone?

OK mine just went down a percentage in battery health but before that I always used the Apple brand but because I took a few days for it to ship here I had to use third-party stuff could have that been the cause of battery health and I had my phone foronly five months so far

Hey thanks for the video! Very helpful, will use these tips for my iPhone 15 pro max that is coming this Friday. My 13’s battery went down the drain due to excessive use of MagSafe charging. I’m gonna follow your advise, ordered an oldskool 5w apple brick, and a usb-a to USB-c IF certified cable. Hopefully that will keep my phone healthy!

Is charging iphone out of the case much better than with case since you mentioned that battery heat from charging can contribute to fast deterioration of battery?

yes, you are right, technically that is better

Overthinking about a phone's battery health is ridiculous. My 13 pro max is at 86% but I can still get 10 hours SOT lasting me 2 days. Just use the phone stop adding useless problems to you life.

Hi, This is a great video and some really good info. However i use a esr magsafe wireless charger overnight for my iphone 14 pro max. I've had it a year and my battery health is still 100%. This charger has a fan built inside to keep the phone cool whilst charging, which ESR term cryoboost, but i believe this helps the charging stick to a certian wattage all the way rather than going to the full and gradually come doing to a few watts. I also have some android phones and use the same charger for those aswell.
@DionMedia Жыл бұрын
impressive story, does this approach has same impact on charging the Android phones?

Do you recommend charging the phone through Windows Laptop type C port? I have been using it for a while now and it is so convenient as I no longer have to go with charging brick all the time. Just plug in to the type C port and it starts charging. Charging speeds are also decent to best. Suggestions are welcome!
@DionMedia Жыл бұрын
The charge speed will vary from laptop to laptop, also between IOS and Window, but your suggestion is a good one. And convenient!

Is it normal ? I was using 20watt charger and my 14pro is draining its battery percentage from 99 to 97 with 10 days after updating 17.0.2.Even though I maintained battery charging within 30-80 .😢 I only use this ph for webtoon reading and I don’t even charge overnight.

Hi Dion. Great video as always. What about the battery life after ios 16.6 update. Do you think its better and should i update? The only thing that bothers me with my 14 pro is battery life, and i hear ppl saying that its significantly better with the 16.6 ios

Hey Dion thanks for the video but i have a question. I don't have 5w brick I only have 20w, Will it be bad if i use 20w wired charging or should I get 5w brick and also compatible cable?
@DionMedia Жыл бұрын
20 Watt is not bad per se, but the main issue for battery health is preventing its heating. Slow charging will achieve this

I also think that the mini 13 is an excellent phone, but you have to make a battery for a whole day, and if Apple managed to make a watch that is smaller than a phone with a battery for two days, then of course it can make a phone with a battery that lasts for two days, you just have to convince them that it is important

@DionMedia Жыл бұрын
Hi, that is a larger drop than I would expect, but it is within Apple’s accepted range (500 cycles for 80%). There are so many factors that determine battery health, like wattage, cable, temperature etc.

Let me share with you my tips. So I have my iPhone 13 Pro Max, and I charge it using a 5W charger. Guess how many batteries I have? Still at 96%. I also have my MacBook Pro M1, and its battery health is 94%. You know why? I charge both devices from 30% to 80%; that's a half cycle, and the next time I charge them from 30% to 80%, that would be a full cycle.
