I've used Samsungs, iPhones, Pixels, Huaweis and it surprises me how tech reviewers fail to mention the zoom capability of the front cameras (both photo and video up to 4x) on the pixel phones. Overall summary of the video. 1. Cinematic mode - iPhone 14 pro * The pixel could be better if the blur can be more consistent and video should be at least 4k. 2. Zoom shots - pixel 7 pro * A clear win for the pixel 3. Ultra wide - iPhone 14 pro * Pixel is not far behind though. 4. 1x - pixel 7 pro * In some instances the iPhone will do better but overall pixel wins. 5. Portrait mode - iPhone 14 pro * Pixel renders skin tone better but suffers from blur cut out of the subject 6. Video - iPhone 14 pro * Pixel could be better with some fine tuning to the colours 7. Stabilization - 50/50 * Both do well 8. Lowlight photos - pixel 7 pro * The iPhone is not far behind though 9. Lowlight video - iPhone 14 pro * The pixel's video has noise 10. Dynamic range - pixel 7 pro * The iPhone is not far behind 11. Mic - pixel 7 pro * iPhone's mic is good but doesn't separate voice from the background so well. 13. Macro mode - 50/50 * But the iPhone can get a bit more closer to the subject 14. Selfie photos - 50/50 * iPhone renders skin slight better 15. Selfie video - iPhone 14 pro * The pixel is not far behind Other iPhone clear wins : * iPhone switches between lenses smoothly * Stabilization mode has higher resolution while pixel still does it in 1080P * Pro- Res Other clear wins for the pixel: * Has more features * It is more fun to use than the iPhone's camera Final verdict: Both phones are great and they both perform better than the other in different scenarios, it's up to you decide which phone you prefer based on your priorities when using a camera. If you prioritise video, portraits, stabilization, cinematic mode and you use the ultra wide a lot then go for the iPhone but if you want a reliable phone for point and shoot and also if you like zooming a lot then the pixel is for you.

Really amazed that pixel pulled out so far with their cameras and minds are blown. I jumped the ship after waiting for P6 last year from Android to iOS with the IP 13. Since video and photo quality mattered a lot to me and iPhone is still ahead even this year in video in the harshest of conditions plus content creation aspects with ProRaw and ProRes are just next level. But if I wouldn't have switched to iOS I may have just stayed with Android and P7 pro and also if video (specially at low light) didn't matter to me as well. Still, anyone who doesn't care about the video that much (it's a 8 to 9.5 comparison anyways) should go with the pixel 7. I mean i love the features and what tensor can do, it is kind of the smartest phone around and I'm so jealous right now that why didn't this happen last year.

If we not consider the price we can absolutely admit that both are next gen cameras. This year's iPhone brings so much more details than any other phone and the fact that the pixel can match it is absolutely insane. To my eyes and on my 27 inch gaming monitor which is not particularly good for that job both look absolutely stunning in good conditions but the iPhone seems better in the less than perfect conditions. For example both look stunning in sunny videos but the iPhone looks better in indoor and low light video. Both look very good when zooming in at closer distances but the iPhone looks better in low light. Beyond 5x i think the Pixel takes it in every scenario. In low light shooting both actually look very nice and the astro mode on Pixel is next level. But in every case where the iPhone seems better it is definitely not $300+ better

Unblur just looks like a clarity and sharpening increase you could do in Lightroom. Maybe it is the use case .

Pixel microphone capture is superior, in comparison the iPhone is muffled in the midrange and rolled off in the highs. Interesting that this feature only gets like 15 seconds of time and no commentary. I'd love to see a comparison of audio recording quality for speech and music at different volume levels.

Cinematic video looks better on the iPhone, the edges look more natural ngl, but Pixel all-around is an awesome camera smartphone!!! So I'd take the Pixel in photos and iPhone in video, definitely!!!

Do you record iPhone video with HDR on or off for these kind of tests? Cheers.

The difference is between consistency. The iPhone is more consistent when it comes to some cases. Only probably because they have time to fine tune some of the last years features. iPhone is more focused only on their devices while Google is not focused enough on your devices but focuses on everything else around their devices. That messes up the time for refinements for them. I think Microsoft is actually doing better with their new SQ3 in their AI features that they just launched. Google should really focus on one thing at a time.

Another thing is people say they want true to life pictures with more realistic colors and no sharpening. And then just to edit the pictures with more saturation and sharpening to an unedited picture. No wonder the iPhone went down the route that they did. The best way I can explain it is it's computational editing. They should have the option to have that off or on but that's it.

Too close to call in many cases it’s preference. I’d like to see the pixel 7 pro vs the iPhone 13 Pro camera since the over sharpening doesn’t seem to be an issue with the 13 pro.

Great comparison! Will you do a full Pixel 7/7 Pro review?

They're both amazing, equally impressive, mostly. But I'm still in awe of video quality of my old 2nd gen iPhone SE and watching this because I'm considering a Pixel for my next phone.

the color on the pixel while zooming in as well as how long it takes to actually switch is a bit disappointing. Hopefully they can continue to tweak it in software updates. Not sure how much they can improve the switch on the zoom as it may be slightly limited by processing power but hopefully the color transition at least will be better.

iPhone is of course better for video, because at this point that seems like it will always be the case. But, outside of cinematic mode, Pixel isn't too far behind and I personally prefer the Pixel's photos as well. Can go wrong with either, but I don't care nearly as much about video and when you factor in the price, I'd take the Pixel. I also personally really like the design of the Pixel. It's both unique and premium looking.
