Aba you're 100% right. I'm a guy who basically went through a f*ckboy phase between age of 18-24, where after my 9/10 high-school gf dumped me, I decided to go on a manhoe phase. I basically raked up a body count from 1 (she was my first) to around 80-100~ between those years. I basically matched left and right on tinder/bumble, didn't waste time on dates, just literally smashed, blocked, moved on to the next. The girls I did enjoy hooking up with, I kept on a rotation at any given time, basically had 4-5 FWBs for easy sex at the snap of my fingers. After years of doing this, experiencing all kinds of shades, background, ages of women--married women, virgins, threesomes, nymphos, black, white, asian, you name it I did it. I slowly realized that by objectifying girls as nothing more than a quick lay, you inadvertently de-value yourself as an opposite and equal reaction. Random sex got boring and I began to become picky, dropping a girl if she even slightly annoyed me. Most girls were all talk and were shit in bed, I got frustrated and annoyed and some night I wished I would have just went home to beat one off. It wasn't bringing me joy. I realized I had to quit cold turkey, I deleted all dating apps, cut off contact with my FWBs (who tried to tempt me back for just a one-night stand), and it was insanely tough, but it was like breaking a smoking habit. I focused my time on myself, going out with friends to spend time with them only, films, concerts, and NOT trying to go home with a girl or get her number. I spent time with family, my niece and nephews, reading philosophy, focusing on my Masters degree, working out, educating myself, playing guitar and writing music, and focusing on myself and my passions. It took a solid few years before I could rewire my brain. And at age 24, when I least expected, I ran into a girl who is my fiance now 5 years later, who is a 1 in a Billion wife-material and mother-material: 5'10" tall, blonde hair blue eyes, cute smile, educated and intelligent, supportive and feminine, attractive and fit, loving parents and strong family values, and someone who I wouldn't trade for 100 "bad bitches. Trust me boys. Random hookups and high bodycount will NOT bring your life meaning as a man--let alone a female who is affected even worse by it. But whatever we do in excess by indulging in blind hedonism and debauchery, you rewire your brain for that which will take time and hardwork to undo and rewire again for normalcy and stability. I have a friend who did a similar thing back at college. After a very turbulent relationship, where the two of them cheated on each other numerous times, and picked up a bunch of terrible habits in a useless relationship, she decided to "have a bit of fun" and for about 4 months, she slept with a bunch of men, about 3 a day. While I get that logic, there's one major flaw with it: Your average person, especially people around their late 20's and early 30's, has been with at least one other person. So sure I don't want to share my toothbrush with anyone. But should I really apply that to a future partner? Would go up to a step parent and say "ew, you got with them? They've clearly fucked someone else"? That's why for me it's less the total number and more the rate. She can "I've been with five guys" to which I'll the period of time. If she says over the course of years or a year, then ok, understandable. But if she says within a week or a day, then of course that would be cause for concern. Just to sum it up quickly, here were some of the weird ideas held by my friend group: -Acknowledged all of the potential side effects from birth control (including increased risk of cancer if you get off of it after a very long time) but thought I was weird for saying I'll never take it. Apparently I'll change my mind when I NEED it in the future, because they don't understand you only can get pregnant like 5 days of each month lol, and your cycle is important for your hormone regulation and is normal, so I'm ok with having it exist and not supressing it. -Tried to explain to me that all girls need to go through a h03 phase to find themselves -When consoling another girl at our school through her breakup, the girl admitted that he broke up with her because he wanted to h03 around, and she said "i'd be ok with it if he just admitted that he wants to do that, but instead he broke up with me to h03 around" - no one thought to tell her hey, you should not be ok with him doing that whilst dating, it's better he broke up with you if he's gonna go do that sort of thing. No one was willing to tell her to increase her standards and not tolerate infidelity. I wasn't really friends with her so it wasn't my place to tell her off. -They said that they want a guy with lots of experience over a guy with little/none, and said if you don't want a guy with experience (aka a h03), you must be a grandma or some religious nutter. -They claim to not care about body count at all; their own, their partner's, past behaviour of themselves or someone else doesn't seem to matter to them despite it reflecting what kind of person they are. -Waiting till marriage is just a dumb and outdated idea -One girl complained that her bf didn't like when she showed her m1lkers off to everyone in revealing clothes, and all my friends were like "omg, that's so controlling, you can do whatever you like" - I was going to speak up, but girls like to gang up on each other and I for sure would have gotten hounded for defending the boyfriend. But I was completely silent as opposed to everyone else, I think that was a message in itself of what I thought. Anyways, during most of these kinds of conversations, I've at least expressed I disagree, or straight up debated with them about it. And they never want to admit I'm right, but I always end up being vindicated in the end during later conversations where they've said stuff like: -One wishes she could become a virgin again. For context, she complained when in her relationship that her Catholic ex wanted to wait (cuz you know, Catholic beliefs) and now she regrets it pushing him to do it. You can't make this sh*t up -One admitting she regretted her h03 phase because she got with bad, low bar people and was SA'd, bc men who participate in hookup culture aren't exactly upstanding dudes (who woulda thought) -Admitting that birth control "messed up their mental health" or that they felt back to normal when they got off it. (still tho, I'm weird for not wanting it lol) You cannot give advice to help your female friends. They simply don't listen, and think you're some sort of backwards grandparent. At this point, I just observe every stupid decision they make that's a reflection of the very succesful (unfortunately) s3xu4l revolution, and let them regret it later on, hoping they will learn from their mistakes because they sure as hell won't learn from your advice. Some may think I'm overreacting, but this issue is so much deeper than we all think. Girls do not have mothers who are emphasising a good role model for them, and are instead encouraging them to participate in this empowering facade of a lifestyle. Fathers cannot say a word, because they are soft and don't have the authoritative influence they once did to guide their kids. Add school s3x ed to the mix, which is not s3x ed may I add, it's just people coming in to say that body count doesn't matter, g3nit4ls don't define what gender you are, and to just be safe when having s3x, no other moral issues relating to the issue are of your concern, oh and what a BJ was llol (this was the ed i received at a catholic school in AUS, dunno if it applies to other nations, but it was sick to say the least) there was no teaching about BIOLOGY, our cycles, the ins and outs of it, hormones or anything. It was just overs3xualised and there was no knowledge being shared. Put weak parents (not entirely their fault, they're conditioned to not shame bad behaviour) and our s3xualised society together and you get a bunch of girls who think this behaviour is ok, and anyone who opposes it or tries to help is a pick me or some dumb shit. Gen z and milleniels, both generations who are already raising kids, we must do better. Totally agree with the dopamine rush analogy. I struggled with drinking for almost 12 years and the amount of fails I went through (blackout ER visits, blackout crashing 6 cars, black out arrests, a dui I don’t remember waking up the next day in jail twice not knowing what I did, random hookups I don’t remember, etc) I was a complete mess. I use to get so frustrated not understanding why I couldn’t just drink like normal people but it was how my mind was programmed drinking so young. Finally after a blacked out night running around Chicago by myself at 2 in the morning wondering why I was running and how I lost my purse with everything in it (another big city running in the middle of night alone, Ive also done this in Vegas, Boston, etc) I realize I needed to stop drinking.. I am over 10 months sober now and it’s crazy how life starts to work in my favor with relationships, my self worth, my appreciation to life.. addictions are a process. We are only human & before you start your hoe phase or drinking all the time, just think a bit harder about those decisions about “finding yourself” because you will lose yourself even more and struggle for many years to get back to step one or may never get the opportunity to find yourself. I can attest to what Abba said, I used to indulge in hedonism (to an extent, not this girls level 💀) but the deeper I got into the lifestyle the harder it was to get out of it. I didn’t like the woman I was becoming. And I hated that I began to lack so much self control because I wanted to “live in the moment” and do all the things I shouldn’t be doing. Eventually these habits started to linger even after I got into relationships. It was like a smoking habit you find so hard to break even if its hurting you or those around you. 12:17 It took years of learning to re-wire my mind to accept that as tempting as it was to indulge in these things, it didn’t really bring value to my life. If anything the lifestyle made me more into someone I didn’t want to be. I decided that I don’t want to be so deep in “having fun” that I could create an opportunity to cheat on a partner or someone I loved dearly. A moment of doing something “fun, risky” etc is not worth the thought of hurting someone I love deeply. I’m happy to say I’m at a place in life where I have my self control back and those things don’t have a hold me on my like it used to.
