As an ordinary citizen my answer to all these questions related the present crisis is wrong government policies of previous governments. Particularly Rajapakshas ruled this country without considering the future economic crisis that may happen if an unexpected situation happens such as covid and global economic collapse etc. Also the successive governments did not bother about the cost of living of ordinary citizens. All they did was keeping the public sector and the party supporters happy to be in power. The money Rajapakshas family circles and the politicians spent was very much higher than the money allocated for education, health and , other living costs. When we have such educated people in our country why the hell our people had the confidence in those unpatriotic leaders who only work to be in power. They are still in power. Why?

Ali Sabry is being diplomatic and politically correct in his responses because he has been and is a part of the corrupt political sytem which needs to be changed, though he may not be personally corrupt. About the sudden surge in emigration of people out of the country at present, it is because of the extremely dire economic & political situation in the country brought about by the Rajapakses, especially under Gota. Sabry is trying to deflect by saying that in the past also it has happened. It is the underlying reasons that need to be exposed.

It is sad that none of these three interviewers pointed out that corruption is generated by the impunity that has arisen out of the primary policy of the state being the cunningly engineered structural genocidal marginalization of minorities to increase economic opportunities for the majority and that the economic collapse is driven by the related secondary policy of borrowing and printing money to pay for imports to increase the quality of life of the majority in the hope of paying back by securing foreign investment and increasing productivity but that policy number one leads to human rights violations and genocide that make policy number two impossible to implement leading to economic and political collapse as well as brain drain and capital flight.

Well said . It must be mentioned that there was a successful foreign funded regime change operation in Sri Lanka back in 2015. This new government headed by President Sirisena was responsible for the disastrous amount of ISB borrowings. Between 2009-2014, $5 Billion worth of ISBs were acquired. This is manageable and normal. However, between 2015-2019 alone, $ 12Billion worth of ISBs were borrowed. This is a devastatingly high amount of debt to be thrust into for an economy the size of Sri Lanka's. ISBs have extremely short maturity periods - as low as 2 years - and having a large number of them to be paid back within a span of 4 years is nearly destructive. There was no clear cut reason for such large borrowings in the first place. The country was in no dire need of foreign aid at that time. President Rajapakse walked straight into this reckless debt pile when he was elected in Nov of 2019. Needlessly to say things were about to get much worse due to Covid-19 in March of 2020. It's been going downhill ever since. The ONLY reason that President Rajapakse is being portrayed as the architect of this catastrophe is due to his pro-China, pro-Russia leanings. Removing him will bring in a Western puppet - like in 2015 - who will bend over backwards to the West's needs, and bow to every demand made by the IMF.

People among the crowds who ask “give us the stolen money back” as Harini states also belonged to parties of previous governments that led Sri Lanka to the present crisis. They were also responsible for stealing and often switching parties to have a piece of the pie. Corrupted politicians very easily instigate the general public to divide and act violently against each other based on their ethnicity and/or religion to stay in power. From presidents, prime ministers, ALL politicians, high ranking government employees to minor employees the entire system as well as the society is corrupted and nothing can be improved or accomplished due to disunity with political parties blaming each other without treating the country and the entire population as a whole as late Lee Kwang Yew did in Singapore. There will be unity ONLY if people of different religions and races live in mixed communities and NOT separated with EQUAL rights and same rules and regulations for ALL including politicians regardless of social status. Only a United plan can solve the present economic crisis. Encouraging the younger generation to rebel in a destructive manner will only cause more damage to the economy. Hardships to the public ( by blocking roadways, transportation, public services etc.) without a plan to resolve the problem but ONLY to gain power will only result in an irreversible downward trend. When this dissatisfied group comes into power as it may, their main goal could very well be to blame and punish their opponents dragging them through the court system instead of planning and developing the country to please those who protested for their instant gratification as did all other previous parties who came into power did instead of developing the country with a plan to assist to educate the poor in a financially cost effective manner for people to be financially independent and to become productive citizens.

For example: Try to get any good or bad education minister to change the outdated education system of schools to make each individual wealthy and healthy without having to wait till they leave school.
