Think the clarification on manual vs automatic is much needed. Seeing a lot of people thinking manual means you're 100% in control of the deployment and getting confused that the electric motor is still being used. Great video, should hopefully encourage people to jump in and race these things. Lots of fear of it being too complicated - if a dumbo like me can figure it out, anyone can!

I was under the impression that trim setting 12 was more aggressive deployment and 1 was less aggressive deployment. In the garage, when you hover over the trim options, it says: "For manual mode, offset applied to the % projected end of straight speed at which deployment is cut. 1 is -10% (less deploy), 6 is 0% and 12 is +12% (more deploy)" So does iRacing have this backwards or is this a double negative makes a positive type of thing?
@ADDHRacing6 жыл бұрын
Robert Tinsey yeah it's backwards but testing shows it to be true
@TacticalCardboard6 жыл бұрын
BottomSplit Racing is correct, it is backwards from the tool tip. Easy test is to use the relative timing display.
@pali1H6 жыл бұрын
Empty Box That explains why I kept running out of juice at week 13 Silverstone in the 919. I was running 4, thinking I was being conservative. Also, the brake regen on the 919 info blurb is incorrect (I believe the Audi is correct however). It says 0 is no regen and 9 is max regen. However, the scale goes from 1 to 10. iRacing defaults you at 9 so technically it isn't full regen. Not that it will be a huge difference but it's something.
@dudedil8174 жыл бұрын
Even on manual deployment the car deploys energy by it self. Help please!
@IN5T1NK3D3 жыл бұрын
in manual mode, the only thing that you control with the adjustment is how much is deployed, not when and where it is deployed. the car will always deploy energy by itself unless you have it turned off with the button
@georgedeane25643 жыл бұрын
In the setup part of the car, there is a "offset" for the hybrid deployment. for fully manual deployment set it to -50%, the only time it will deploy automatically is 2% when you go from standstill

LMPs, for me the master league of racing cars. Forget F1, forget GT, forget DTM. Sadly it's quite possible they are going to disappear quite soon from racing, as all teams are moving somewhere else :-( I love these beasts, even though I am an incredibly crappy racer in those.
@TacticalCardboard6 жыл бұрын
LMP1 is likely dead... some privateers joining in, but I don't think privateer LMP1s are going to take hold. Given it's sports car racing, I think we're entering the down years after the gold years of 2014-2016.

Wonderful video, Matt. Now that I get the manual vs automatic, I'm gonna use manual as you suggested. But I did find two peculiar things with the Porsche in automatic: Around Le Mans it would consistently run out somewhere around the Porsche Curves, leaving me with no boost for the front straight. Also when I was hitting Boost Hold around Spa it wouldn't deploy automatically after that. Doesn't really matter if I'm going manual, but I found that a bit odd.

Manual setting 6 equals 0% trim, but automatic is not going to be at 0% trim, so manual 6 not equal automatic. 0% trim is the the setting for SoC equilibrium based on baked in data, but automatic will try to figure out the appropriate trim% for your setup, regen settings, driving style, etc, basically trying to learn based on recent laps.

Why is the cockpit zoomed in so much, it is like you are sitting on the dashboard??
@TacticalCardboard6 жыл бұрын
It's not, driving in VR is proof the camera is in the right place. It's a tight cockpit and the 919's wheel is particularly high / driver is particularly low.

Without any fuel regeneration it seems like the audi is underwhelming compared to the porsche. Is it something i have misunderstood or is this true?
@TacticalCardboard6 жыл бұрын
The Audi can't store all that much energy, so the lack of a GU-H doesn't hurt it as badly as you might think other than weird circuits like Daytona or Watkins Glen where there just aren't enough brake zones. You still run into the same issues on the 919.

They are not so complicated as they are understeery on corner exit, which is quite frustrating.
@TacticalCardboard6 жыл бұрын
If you are understeering on exit focus on getting the car turned in the middle of the corner and then rocket away. Once you are on the power, you have 4WD and the thing is naturally going to want to straighten a bit.
@xavierthomas19806 жыл бұрын
That is what makes them frustrating to drive. I am more a LMP2 lover, simplicity, less downforce, softer suspension, more driving sensation... whats not to like (beside some sim racers not getting them and insulting them as 'boat')

I've had some good experiences with IMSA back in 2016. Gonna try it again this season, also the new Le Mans Series, I'll probably drive a GTE car on both series. The sweet spot is right down the middle, I'm getting sick of GT3 anyways but I'm not too familiar with the LMP1 class either, so GTE it is.

As you said they aren't much different, but the tool tip is wrong. As there is a 10, and it doesn't say 10 = off or anything. I'm not sure about the Audi, I drove it twice. Also the tool tip on the manual trim is backwards, but I think you got it correct in the video.
