Exiled Iranian activist Sareh Hamdani continues her struggle for LGBTQ rights in her home country. She was arrested in October 2021 while trying to cross Iran's border with Turkey, and subsequently sentenced to death for the alleged crime of promoting homosexuality. She was released on bail after protests led by Amnesty International here in Germany, and was finally able to flee and join her supporters in Germany. DW reporter Negin Fard, spoke to Sareh about her experiences.

So much wrong with with that. She was married away at 14?! That seems like the biggest sin of all. They treat women like property and dogs. Disgraceful. Glad she got out and away.

I am glad she got away and sorry gor what her family is hoing through. i gotta sign more amnisty international petitions they can help make a difference. Religion extremism and disctatorship are pure evil. There is absolutely nothing wrong with her, what is wrong is forced marriage, child marriage, rape and pedophilia. I hope that LGBTQ people, woman and also man can be free in Iran! 6000 LBTQ + people murdered is absolutely unaceptable!😢😢 Sometimes I firget this type of things still happen in certain countries in 2024 just unbelievable!
