Really, it ruins all that is magic. It's a shame that they're destroying this art that has nothing to do with trying to deceive you and you finding out, something that would be practically impossible without these tricks, and that's the beauty of it, that you see it just enjoying it and not thinking about how it's done. As a magician used to say, it's like someone holding the moon in their hands and you're staring at the fingers, as if you were ignoring the story of the movie trying to discover the CGI
@XxZeldaxXXxLinkxX9 ай бұрын
@@guillermor.r4831 It completely depends on your capacity to appreciate the technique and difficulty. You can appreciate both the movie and the CGI. I'm not a magician, but I'm a very technical-minded and curious person. When I don't understand something, I have the strongest desire and itch to understand it. When I learn how a trick works, I get to be amazed a second time when I see how complex it is and the skill that is required.

The carrefully controlled chaos that he creates makes the trick more impressive for me. I feel like he is gonna get lost with all those weird dealings of the cards when all he is doing is throwing all the unwanted cards on the table while carefully controlling the wanted ones. To my layperson's eyes it looks clumsy but it couldn't be more precise. You're incredible for figuring everything out and even more so for explaining it in such a clear manner. Cheers

When I see performances like this with all the chaos I kind of lose interest, because there is just an infinity of moves and tricks that could be going on to create the illusion. Without watching in slow-mo for days I'll never guess WHICH moves actually happened but I know nonsense is going on.
@stephenmarseille54258 ай бұрын
Completely agree. I think the effect is far more impressive than the sleek, clean card manouvers we've seen in the last 10 years. The 'slop' impression sticks in the brain and makes it feel more chaotic and unlikely.

Markobi's FISM act is the best magic performance to ever exist, period. Even with the duplicate Queens, it doesn't use any real gimmicks, it's just a good old card trick. Everyone who owns some cards and a marker has everything needed for this trick - the only thing that separates us from Markobi is the skill. And the effect Markobi achieves with his skill, the unbelievable forces he pulls off, in combination with the acting and the jokes, in front of a crowd of magicians who were ALL blown-away fooled at the end - this just is IT. Magic peaked with this act.

There are never magicians like them. If it was not for them, idk what would be the niché of magic tricks today.

I was originally inspired by Dynamo, as that was one of the first magic shows I watched. However, after watching 'Fool Us,' I realized that magic truly adheres to a high standard where the tricks are nothing like the stooge tricks seen on 'AGT.' This made me really admire each magician who managed to fool Penn and Teller. But in the latest seasons, it seems they have started giving away trophies to just about anyone.

@@irehman7 making something live instead of tv magic is a whole other level as it's... tv, it's all edited and scripted, now fooling and impressing two veteran professional magicians that are not afraid of giving criticism... that requires talent, a lot of it. They mean so much to the world of magic tricks.
@thureintun16879 ай бұрын
@@irehman7 im so glad to hear you hav that similar opinion about later Fool Us episodes. New people to the show might not know how thoroughly Penn and Teller used to scrutinize tricks back then, esp. during Jonathan Ross era. And the whole community was very united in criticising the show if they ever gets lazy with their examinations, and got fooled by tricks that aren't seemingly ok at best. Remember the Jibrizy controversy of season 3?😅 Now tho, fool us trophies aren't not as highly regarded as before mostly because of how much it had giving off too easily. And fooling Penn & Teller, once very priced status, not so much now I think all blame on the tv production. Sad because we don't have many interesting TV shows on magic😢

I have a question regarding your own thinking irehman7. When youre watching and/or breaking down a magic trick where do you start from? do you watch it a few times and use your own knowledge of magic to detail the tricks or is there some method a person could use to do this as well? I feel like you might be a professional in some way. my reason for asking this is because I use the way you describe methods in other arenas and it applies. there's a strange logic to magic when you detail it. the same is true with other things human beings use discuss, convince, or deceive. although I really have enjoyed your content over the years and the way you break things down. I actually enjoy magic and appreciate it for the effort, practice, and discipline it takes.

I normally figure out tricks in the first watch, because I am "expecting" beforehand what they will do before they do it. But this act threw me off too, I had to watch this a lot of times in order to keep track of the cards. The false moves were so cleverly positioned in the act that as a magician you'll be thrown off track because as soon as you see something doesn't go as you expect you hit a dead end.

For what it is worth, I somewhat support producers doing favorable cuts for magicians. This is because in person, we don't see these things or are unlikely to notice them. But, on camera we can go frame by frame and watch and rewatch. I think that as a producer you should think about that when deciding where and how to edit. Show clean slight of hand that would equally fool (or not fool) a live and a taped viewer, edit around stuff that a taped viewer can easily parse out or notice. In simple terms, if it would fool the live audience, but not the KZbin audience, feel free to edit it. What isn't good is editing out stuff that wouldn't fool a live audience.

Wait -- but signing dark black scribbles will not completely cover the signature. So that means, since the duplicates were prepared before the performance, then they can't know the signature. So that means, if we check the duplicate cards (especially the last part where there are a bunch of them), we can see that the original signature is not there? 😮
@irehman76 ай бұрын
Yes, that's exactly why in the Fool Us footage, I showed a screenshot from the beginning when the card was signed and again at the end of the performance when it was revealed, showing that both cards were completely different. In the case of a FISM performance, the footage is filmed from far away, making it very hard to see the significant details of the signed card.

a one handed quadruple lift is nothing to sneeze at. lol. This is a technically difficult routine. The "slop" is a wonderful misdirection to hide otherwise obvious breaks and sleights that are happening. It makes the whole thing appear unplanned and random. Then the execution of such a routine, the risks he takes to perform some of the sleights requires a lot of trust in your own abilities. Doing a move to appear clumsy while not accidently "turning over" a card that isn't meant to be turned over is a fine line. Markobi is insane. Sure we could learn this routine and probably do it quite well, but it would never match his routine.

I'm sure you probably already know this, but the "7 of diamonds" he used in the FISM act was actually the "9 of diamonds"

Thanks for pointing out. A minor misjudgment, fortunately the explanation isn't effected!

That one is much simpler. The microphone was rigged so that it ignored what the male participant said, and the mic said the number with a male voice. We never hear that participant's real voice, and they are both instructed not to react. The number was determined either by her memorizing the deck (it was not shuffled) and entering the number into the mic, or by her just entering the named card and the mic software determining which number to say.

I have to say, knowing how he did it makes it even more impressive, the whole string of tricks running into each other is so well performed. He is most definitely the sharpest card sharp in the world today, the only person who really gives him a good run for his money works differently, but is his equal, Richard Turner.

love your content but I really really miss the old format of these videos. the iconic voice the soft music playing in the background. i really hope you make more of those style videos. they were imho one of the treasures of youtube.

I would have continued if my video didn't start performing so badly. Many enjoyed that format but as the channel grew to a wider audience then judging by how new viewers responded (not great), KZbin reduced the reach so I had no choice but to improve with each video.

I made this post a while ago on the channel memberonly post:: I didn't want to post this publicly as the channel taking my explanations will get more attention, just wanted to share it with you guys: A channel by the name "ACE" (from India) takes my explanations and illustrations, rephrases my script with Chat Gpt (without adding anything to the explanation) and uploads them. He was taking my "Penn & Teller : Fool Us" explanations, so I put them in private setting, but then he started taking explanations from my 1 hour videos and uploaded them as single reveals. The subscribers you see on his channel (ACE) are 90% fake bots, only the recent few thousands you see are from the videos that he uploaded. All of these explanations are taken from my channel:: 1:: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hmSyqYetrbh0fMksi=oeFM2zpSuPxIUVj8 2:: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qITXnWRtg6uJfMksi=cOlECMmiFN_aYa6D 3:: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fJ-Xi5SIZ8d6naMsi=mk0X6AFHSh72fOLa 4:: kzbin.info/www/bejne/i17ZnmunrMdlpposi=maYRDX9Un01s2vl_ 5:: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oJyrdqxsfLOah6Msi=RM1ji3Ll7F-CWkxG 6:: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jaTTnoaEbtNris0si=S-CW3X9SkNkMBoWn 7:: kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZpjFi2aQgciZa6csi=f0dOOChEL9ed4dej 8:: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oqLXpHyOfaaej6Msi=8yz1r4fBZPJ-60u5 9:: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gquxioR4namNl80si=b4mjvBpn_yvudzb0 10:: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iYGZi2SuZpmhl7ssi=2B82Y8_aApoLbXrY 11:: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bpi9apyDqNxngLcsi=8UuWR0PboscVtqCH 12:: kzbin.info/www/bejne/ol6ag55rg5aWhtksi=ORvdikS0UtoWBghS 13:: kzbin.info/www/bejne/amLFqoxsnbOHhbMsi=gukLT4-JFJd041SB 14:: kzbin.info/www/bejne/ooK7gKOYdrSEnqcsi=oz2Q2vWsS4p27vTS 15:: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y3Wxnoh_i7Z4hc0si=UvGzE_FrTX1KV-8O 16:: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aJ2cd3yknc14h9ksi=rdbGvr9DwGRyWvWi 17:: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pYeniopnbZZ8rpIsi=wnuBiQUETakb1lnv 18:: kzbin.info/www/bejne/kJ28hXpqfammqdEsi=B2N0GdLCyXdKtRfN 19:: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iH-mZ2R5n7SFi9ksi=LfjT4l7EtokyRaC4

Thanks mate but how did he get the card into the kit-kat packet without it seeming open if you don't know what I'm talking about which you should watch his fism act but yea thanks btw I'm an Aussie magician
@irehman79 ай бұрын
I don't remember a card appearing inside the kit-kat packet in his FISM act, I believe chocolate bar was just a joke he added and no card was revealed from inside it. Could you give me a time stamp, maybe I overlooked it.

@@irehman7 K either I remember it or I just thought it would be a good addition
@jasonbarrylambeth9 ай бұрын
@@ACECARDCHEAT He didn't make a card appear in the kit-kat packet in FISM. IF you are being honest about "remembering" that happening then you prove a major point of how magic works. If you implant a memory in someone's mind, it becomes reality (even if it never happened). The way he introduces the kit-kat in the FISM routine makes it seem like he MIGHT make the card appear there. I have heard similar mis-memories happen when clients I used to perform to recount the tricks they saw me perform at their events to another person. For example, people often say "He never even touched the deck" when I absolutely did, I just TOLD them I didn't want to touch it as I hand it back to them (while simultaneously completing what ever pass or move I need to make).
@ChrisTomatoPie2 ай бұрын
Did you figure the routine out by yourself? And how could you come up with ehat is probably exactly what he did with the routine being extremely complicated. Wow

I didn't like the new voice at first, but the more I listen to it the more I love it. It's so sassy and satirical, especially on the Mr Beast video when you say "no, that's not how magnets work!" I hope you keep it, don't change it back and don't change it to a different voice. Great video as always mate.

This is just so oh-my-god. He just knows about all and everything of his moves, while totally playing the nervous-caotic, this is exactly what confuses the audience. He causes so incredible much of distraction, and that even in a most funny way.
