if the trick went wrong it would have been re-recorded after the show. Most likely this trick was kinda practiced before. because his introduction to Alice was, shuffle the card under the table but you can think of any kind. actually he should have said, think of any card that you have. As I commented on the original video, Dani creates a dual reality in which the audience believes Alison has 'thought' of a card but in fact she has 'chosen' a forced card. The complete chaos of Dani's act makes the dual reality easy to create. A stunning performance!!
@pedrof676
@pedrof676 Жыл бұрын
During the act he said to all, "think any card you want", including Ally. Somehow he was able to convince Ally that any card is the card she saw during the shuffle. What he explicity said is not what he wants Ally does but indeed was what Ally did. This kind of suggestion doesn't work with guy on his left for sure or anyone trying to figure out the trick. Really risky but works in the end.

The crazy part about this entire appearance is that Danny wasn't asked to come on the show. He was backstage with another magician just helping this other magician when Penn and the producers asked him to perform. After some back and forth and convincing, Danny agreed to go on that night. What you're seeing is essentially an unplanned performance from a master magician, done without rehearsal. Makes everything he did that much more amazing.

Ireman, good job with the video. Only error is the final trick, Allison wasn't told to pick a card from the handful of cards she was given. She was told to look at one and put it in the middle, but if you look at the original video, she was told to "think of any card you want." Maybe the select cards and looking at one was a psychological trick, but overall, Allison did have free reign of picking ANY card she wanted. That final trick truly is amazing.
@Yang-ob4lk
@Yang-ob4lk Жыл бұрын
Yes, but from Allisons perspective, It would've been very hard to pick any other card. Basically, she is confused; she is remembering a card she looked at under the table, and doesn't know what for. Now Dani is asking her, if she is thinking of a card. The safe choice that clears the confusion, and also means that Allison doesn't have to remember TWO cards, is picking the card she is already remembering. She might also be scared that she misheard him, and doesn't want to mess up the trick by accident - the performance is frantic on purpose here. See how Dani just looks at the card at position 21, before Allison reveals what it is? That is because he is prepared to move the trick forward in a different direction if Allison against the pressure actually chose a different card.

Dani’s performance was unbelievable, but so is this video. Amazing. Regarding the psychological force explanation based on counting, I always meet skepticism when I tell others how it’s done. It sounds so risky.
@NicolasConnault
@NicolasConnault 2 жыл бұрын
The level of risk is entirely dependent on the magician's experience and skill, especially with misdirection. When a force fails, he has many strategies for staying in control while retaining the persona that has been misleading everyone. This enables him to be extremely confident, because he knows exactly where things could go "wrong", and how to bring them back under control without anyone noticing. This is why psychological force tricks aren't for novices!

For sure. He goes fast, slow, messy but it’s all part of the trick, everything looks random but it’s actually very tightly controlled. I’ve notice this sloppy technique before- these guys are masters in slight of hand yet appear to fumble constantly. It’s just an illusion to make you think they can’t be counting or keeping track of the cards in such chaos. Having four people at the table adds to this frantic feeling but the trick is still one person at a time done by building and remembering the count / force from before. Super impressive. Us mere mortals couldn’t do this even with the cards face up!

Commenting this before i see the solution.. :D I saw video of this trick the other day and my best guess was that it has something to do with guiding their choices and at the same time counting cards really well, and maybe even adjusting positions slightly, so it ends up where he wants it. But i am not sure that i am right because that would require so much concentration and having control of moving parts of that trick in his head...that my head hurts only of thinking what all you have to keep track of. Edit: yeah..i was roughly on the right track...but didnt figured out the detailed moves he did... but still the amount of stuff he had to have in his mind and control at any given time to do this is staggering.

Great video, but I still don't see how he forced Alyson to choose one of the cards she was holding. The Jack of Hearts still seemed like a free choice.
@coolaun
@coolaun 2 жыл бұрын
She had a free choice from the three cards she was holding. Once she had placed the card of her choice between the other two, she had fixed its position. Dani didn't need to know which card she had chosen, he only needed to be sure of its position. Right until nearly the end of the trick, he didn't actually know the denomination of the chosen card.

That part is not well explained in the video. In the performance he clearly asks for ANY CARD. But his performance here is so frantic and confusing, that Allison would have to have nerves of absolute STEEL to pick a different card than the one she looked at. Basically, Allison is confused why she had to look at the card under the table, and is nervous to mess his trick up. She is remembering a card, and doesn't know what for, and now he is asking for a card and she goes for a safe option and picking the card she is already remembering. She is probably also just scared that she misunderstood what he said, as he is talking frantically and in an accent. I believe 100%, if Allison didn't say the card that was at the position, the trick would've gone into a different direction from there. That is why he is checking the card. He doesn't KNOW the card

I just can't believe how all the psychological forces in the trick just worked. Even after hearing the explanation, that is how I'm still blown away by the practical 10 minutes application of the trick. How can that just work? How can it work so often? I understand that there are backups, but how can those work more often than not? Especially with the counting and dealing less and less cards and then just 1 card being left until the trick fails. With him even encouraging the people to be bold and go beyond, but they just don't do it. It's crazy to me. The real puzzle here is the nature of human psychology. Really, even after hearing all that, I can't believe that a trick based on people just following your indirect suggestions will just work. That is crazy to me. It's not even the trick here, it is genious of course, but I am deeply puzzled about the human nature here.

I thought I was going to be disappointed watching this because the trick felt so magical and I didn’t catch anything when watching it. But seeing how it’s done, it’s like a symphony for its complexity. So many pieces, so well controlled all while being an affable “clown” character. It’s just crazy how amazingly skilled he is.

@@irehman7 BTW how does he control the king when he asks Penn to touch a card and it is "this is the same" - king three times - it's obviously sleight of hand, but what technique?.

Great video. I had no idea how he did the first half, but the card at the 21st position was immediately obvious to me when I saw him counting the cards Allison put down, then asking to deal 1 at a time that the way he put the cards back together from Penn, Allison, Teller, and the other guy was very specific.

On my second or third watch of Dani's trick (as a total non-magician, just a guy who likes to watch videos) I caught something that proved to me the genious of manipulation from him. When he puts the card on top of the deck, he points at Teller so that Teller doesn't see the card in clear view now. Such a small thing but so freacking genious.

Dani being on fool us is a very special event for all card magicians. Most magicians create a special effect for the soul purpose of being on fool us. Dani is the only magician on Fool Us that did his normal material. I've hung out with Dani and due to our sessions I knew how this act was done; however, the playful attitude combined with the psychological control he has over others still amazes me.

So a change in camera angle helps hide important parts of the trick but also pin points when an exposed part of the trick takes places. So working out what movement was being hidden can help in your "cracking the trick". 😋😋
