Neutrogena makes a Hydro Boost face mask that comes in two gel pieces and covers the whole face. I have not used it but it looks similar in videos. It took me so long to fix my skin by healing the skin barrier. For years I tried every product (same as you-red light, Tretinoin, Paula’s Choice, BHA, the Ordinary chemical exfoliant, slugging with Vaseline) NOTHING worked. Finally, I started using a gentle cleanser, La Roche Posay Cicaplast as a moisturizer, a sulfur mask 3X week, and silicon patches to heal. I feel mislead from all those years in high school/college using harsh benzoyl peroxide and chemical exfoliants, which just made everything worse.

If your skin barrier is damaged, go very simple with your skincare routine, try to find products with Ceramide or Allantoin, and like she said, never ever use exfoliating actives until your skin is healed. Hope it helps ❤ Edit: oh and opt for physical sunscreen instead of chemical sunscreen!

AGREE! Had problems with my skin barrier since about 10 month, I tried cica, panthenol, peptide, hyaluronic acid products, also rosacea related products with zinc... (not all at the same time tho xD) Nothing worked right. And then I picked up a random Ceramide cream, it was about 8 dollar on sale... AND IT WORKED, finally! That also was an instant result, my skin was soooo nice right after the first use, I was shocked. Now I use it every night as last step! If you have skin problems, you should give it a try!

I think its important to mention that the thick cream isn't the right move for every skintype. I for example have Oily but still dry and sensitive skin wich is not compatible with thick cream. Instead you want to use a very light or even oil free gel. But appart from that I think this mask is a great way to let the moisturising get even deeper in your skin.

This makes sense! I am post acne and the amount of actives i used to treat it has damaged my skin barrier and cause my eczema to flare up. After a point i gave up and just started slugging to treat my immediate eczema problem. And while it was messy it helped so much, with zero actives, just a heavy moisturizer under vaseline. This mask will be less messier
@camvvn6 ай бұрын
What is slugging?
@lovrboi6 ай бұрын
slugging is applying a thick occlusive product (usually petrolatum based- vaseline, for example) as your final step in your PM skincare routine. it essentially seals in and amplifies whatever products you applied underneath it. it can be great for locking in hydration overnight and helping to heal your skin barrier, but you have to be careful to not use active ingredients when you do it (retinoids especially, for example) because amplifying the affects of those on your skin is dangerous and can very easily lead to irritation

Привет Ирина! I actually also have PCOS, and recently I also had to stop all of the beauty trends to cure skin, since it completely broke the skin barrier.😅 What accidentally saved me actually, that I had some Avene Restorative Creame, omg it fixed my skin IMMEDIATELY. It was not as damaged as yours, but it was breaking out very aggressively. I also bought that Skin1004 Cica ampoule, which everyon talking about, and it was fine, so I don't know if it needs to be added or not but it won't hurt for sure. As for internally healing my PCOS, I am on BC so that does most of work, then of course 8h sleep is A MUST. Your body regulates hormones as you sleep. And as for overall other points, you need to start healing body internally. Although I am russian by birth, but I kinda grew up in Asia, and we believe here, especially in the sense of TCM (traditional Chinese medicine), that all organs are connected, and PCOS is the cause not the origin. I need to find myself a good TCM doctor, and will get some individually measured herbs. For now I also drink spearmint tea, which is famous for regulating male hormones.

Thank you for sharing! I was on BC for more than 10 years 🙈🙈 And I had no symptoms, but longer you on the pill, harder will be canceling. Wait wait! This is not to heal acne, it is to heal skin barrier from using too much anti acne products. Just patches itself won’t fix acne, but it would fix post acne and help heal skin from actives(tretinoin, acids) My skin was damaged with actives, that I used for a long time and silicone patches helped to heal it. But I also do a lot to treat the cause of acne (in my case it is PCOS): diet, sport, stress management. My acne are going away because of this, but patches are helping with the texture, post acne and overall look of the skin.

Thanks Irina for sharing these useful tips! Could I ask what the top layer mask (on top of silicone patches) is for?
@streetofdreams45384 ай бұрын
It seems the top layer mask is simply there to hold all the smaller silicone patches in place.
@irinareina4 ай бұрын
Just to hold the patches so they would not stay on the pillow at night 😅

да, я уже посмотрела состав, там есть кометогенные ингредиенты. Но не много, я думаю, что он только для жирной кожи не подойдёт, а остальным будет нормально

Actually there is a lot of research on silicone for the skin if you dont wanna get the mask you can use liquid silicone
@irinareina6 ай бұрын
Do you mean alginate face masks? Or are there actually liquid silicone for skin?
@iza41506 ай бұрын
@@irinareina not 100% silicone but there are a lot of gels that have a very high procentage of silicone and precisely dimethacone, especially scar gels that are actually just silicone based with some healing ingredients.

The only thing that disturbs me is the line of demarcation left at the end of the patch (near the under eye), I am very susceptible to those line and I am afraid that after having them every night they can become permanent. After how much time did yours replenish and go away? Could they be considered similar to sleeping position lines (which can become permanent wrinkles)?
@heidikamrath19516 ай бұрын
Move the patches around to slightly different locations each night
@irinareina6 ай бұрын
From what I notice, they go away in 10 minutes, but you can really locate patches differently or use different shapes every other night.

I just bought it and I hope it works. I know my skin has barrier issue, because acne came out after I did waxing. And I was hoping to find something like that, but didn't even know such a thing exists. I'll come and post te results after a month or so.

@@irinareina okay so updates: yes it helped! But Honestly for me it wasn't that magical, but still it's visible. Just probably I will look for another option, since as you also mentioned, te cover mask is tight, and it caused some bruise on my nose, so I had to cut the nose part fully. I love that it's reusable. Just wish they had a better cover mask. Thanks for sharing your experience ❤

Also used tret for 1 1/2 years. Needed a long time to realize that it isn’t for me. At least for now.
@Hiimjess86 ай бұрын
I use adapalene and I find it much more gentle, but still effective. Strongest retinoid you can get over the counter. Closely related to tretinoin chemically, but it is different. Marketed for acne, still affective for anti-aging. Been using for 10 years.
@issingno78146 ай бұрын
@@Hiimjess8 yeah I tried that when I finally accepted that I can’t tolerate tretinoin. I guess by that point, my barrier was to disrupted for adapalene. I can’t even tolerate low percentages of retinal, even after months of no use of any active ingredients. It’s great when it works, but it definitely can damage your skin long-term when you don’t be careful. Guys remember Irritation is not necessarily a sign that it works.

Can I do this without the patches? I mean just the silicon mask on top? Have you tried it that way before? 🥰 And what are the additional benefits of the patches over just using the mask. As I have understood they are both made out of silicon right? Thank you for your reply ❤️❤️❤️
@hiddenmutant6 ай бұрын
I've used just the mask before (usually sold as "reusable silicon sheet mask"), and you do get some gaps depending on the unique contours of your face. So it would still mostly work, but you wouldn't have quite as good of "coverage."
