The plastic boxes are by far the best way to store and protect your cigars and the humidity in them is unbelievably constant and you almost don't have to check on them as it is so efficent...the only thing is now and them open them to let alithle fresh air in......but the boveda packs seem to last forever in them and the cigars stay in the most perfect of condition.....I cant advice people strongly enough to get them.the only down side I see is that they are arent pretty to look at and people pay a lot for cigars and want to show them off in glass cabinets with lights in them in a nice stylish room.
@MightyJabroni3 жыл бұрын
Completely agree. The bang for buck is unbeatable. My Bovedas lasted almost two years and even at that point weren't completely hardened. Performance-wise this is the best form of storage. Considering what a similar volume humidor would cost ...... better invest that in the content. ^^

I did it a little differently. My tops are smooth, not the square pattern you show Charlie. This allows me to mount 2 Boveda 300 gram humidification boxes. I use the Boveda magnet mounts and put two way tape on them and mount them on the inside. I then use a Govee wireless digital hygrometer to keep an eye on them now. One tupperdor has boxes and the other has singles in cedar trays stacked on top of each other.

The main disadvantage of these over the cooler type boxes, is they are not insulated, so you have to keep them somewhere with a consistent temperature.

Without a thermoelectric element inside a coolidor it doesn't cool and will have the same temperature as the room it's in. Despite the name "coolidor", it doesn't cool by itself.

@@illkickyouinthenuts Yes, but temperature changes in the outside environment will change the temp in the cooler much more gradually.

@@EthanReviews123 If your room temperature fluctuates that badly, I would do something about the room first or put it in another room. If you don't have a room with a more steady temperature I would even suggest to buy a wineador like a Newair.
@EthanReviews1232 жыл бұрын
@@illkickyouinthenuts Yeah I agree but I still like a cooler, my temps in the cooler are always about five degrees cooler than the room temp and they don't fluctuate drastically with the room temp. Obviously if it's 90 in the room for a few days the cooler is gonna get hot too but I've notice it keeps the temp within a few degrees of 70 most the time.
@orion77412 жыл бұрын
meh, temperature fluctuations really dont matter all that much in a residential setting. when people talk about avoiding temp fluctuations, they are talking about major fluctuations like 20-30 degree swings. you will never have that in a residential setting.

Did you continue this project? I’m considering converting a Yeti into a cooler humidor.
@royce3582 Жыл бұрын
@@webuser1284 I wouldn’t recommend it… Indoor house summer temps between 70-90 degrees (I don’t keep ac’s running when I’m at work), yeti temp fluctuated too much between 62-78 degrees. IMO daily fluctuations like this might be worse than just keeping it warm, due to the relationship with humidity/moisture. Replacing frozen bottles twice a day better regulated the yeti temp, but it’s a lot of hassle after weeks of this. I bought a $200 Needone electric humidor online at Walmart, worth every penny solved my temp problems. Cigar Oasis Excel 3.0 for cheaper long term humidity control with it. Peace of mind for my fancier Ligas, Padrons, Melanios, etc. Hope this helps, good luck brother.

Iris always sold these under their own branding. I bought them as far back as 10 years ago. The clasps were in black at the time. Ziploc (Johnson and Johnson) must have inked a deal about three years ago which is when I first saw them in blue. Over the years, especially with weight on top of them, the seals become compressed and leak. They are not rated as airtight. They are some of the best storage boxes sold. I initially used them to store expensive items I wanted to protect *from* humidity such as some knives and camping equipment. Personally, I would not use them to store cigars. They do smell plasticy so you do have to wash them. As also weak air over time, as I already mentioned. When they first appeared Boveda wasn’t a thing, but now that they are it might be a viable solution even though they leak. I personally would monitor them. Each and every one. I have a wine-ador and don’t smoke tons so I don’t plan of using them. I do use them to store all my other tobacco products though. I got into pipes, and store my pipes, pipe tobacco, and accessories in them.
