The names of irish men and woman are also wonderful. Jamie Dornan and Liam Neeson are also Irish and they are pretty cool names, but they are wonderful!

Very impressed with how unusual some of these Irish names were ladies! I was bracing myself for really popular ones like Ciara and Conor but you really did your research! Great to see, my sister is Síofra (queen of the Munster fairies in Irish mythology), my name Aifric dates back to 6th century Ireland and means pleasant and noble.

I'm in England and I've looked after an Oisin who went by Osh. They have little brothers called Cassan and Remy. I've always through they were so well named!

Great names! In Ireland a popular nickname for Oisin is Ozzy :) Never heard of Osh, but I love it! 💗

Wolfe Momma We’re having a little girl! We had already talked about baby names beforehand (we’ve been together three years and have been engaged for 2) but we lost two little ones last year so choosing new names has been a struggle ❤️

@Freya Roach I like the name Freya. It's a lovely name but it also reminds me of Freya who was of a peaceful tribe 'The Nox' in the Stargate series!

Picking names that no one can spell will cause those children endless confusion later in life. At work, I picked 5 faxes in 1990 for someone called Chanade. No one knew who this was. The customer was trying to send the fax to Sinéad.

I love the name aoibhe. It’s on top of my list for if we ever get a baby girl. However, since nobody will know how to spell the name properly over here, we might be writing it as iefe. Which is the same as the Dutch word lieve (which means sweet or kind) only Without the L. 😛

Can you make a video on going back to school? A haul or something like that? My 5 year old is starting primary school and I am totally lost and what to buy, where is the best shop to buy uniform in Ireland, name tags etc.

I recently (about a year ago) found out about my Irish and Dutch heritage on my moms side. I really love the name Oisín. I want to use the name William as well (obviously not Irish) so I’m thinking maybe Oisín William or vice versa. Edit: and hopefully whoever is my future husband will agree on it😊

Recently came across the name “Bryluen” which apparently means “rose” in either Irish or Scottish… can’t find anymore info. Would love to know correct meaning and pronunciation!!!!

I really like Irish names but the spelling makes me hesitate. Love Siofra.

According to teanglann[dot]ie, Síofra means elf or sprite, while the translation of fairy is Síog (which I found quite disappointing). Is elf or sprite the same as fairy? (particularly in Celtic mythology) I'm not sure, and a bit of research has shown they aren't in most cases. Still, I wouldn't name my daughter Síog for the sake of etymology, and I'd rather name her Síofra in virtue of a better sounding name, and just tell everyone it means fairy XD

I've heard that Aodh can also be pronounce E, similar to the ao that is also in Aoife. Do you know if that is correct or not? It seems as though ao at the start of a word is sometimes pronounced ee and other times as ay. Is there a reason for that or is it just dialect?
