I talked to a driver for one of these one time. He and his co-worker were both in Vietnam, and were working as contractors as mechanics in 29 palms. I don't remember what he said his actual MOS was, but he drove one of these during Hue. He said he these things were about as popular and in demand then as an A-10 warthog is today. He would just drive this thing around on request from the grunts and they would operate it while he would take cat naps because it was being used at all hours of the day. The grunts would radio up where to send the trucks with the rounds. Like they said, no doctrine, no proper way to use it. Literally just a piece of gear to blow things up that needed to be blown up. And there was a lot of things that needed to be suppressed or blown up. He was just some Corporal given free reign with this thing. He'd see his SSgt once or twice a month to make sure he was alive and that was about it.

@@Plastikdoom oh totally. The bat bomb would not work by modern standards either due to the change in construction standards either, unless they swapped from incendiary to something more effective against metal and concrete. At the time though it would have been even worse than a nuke.

Those are not Bazookas, they are 106 mm cannons, recoiless because part of the propellant gas is blown to the rear.

You definitely need to watch Nic aka The Fat Electrician more. Best storyteller on youtube. Check out "America's Airborne Anti-Hero Jake McNasty" or "America Destroys half of Irans Navy in 8 hours - Operation Praying Mantis." Honestly, you can't go wrong with any of his videos.
