I already saw it on Gript, but I'm just here to comment and get your reaction pushed as well, because I feel like if this story in particular gets more attention, maybe we can actually start making some sort of moves in the direction of change. The same thing happening in New Inn in Tipperary. Sean Meehan, aged 66 got divorced. He moved into a mobile home on his own land. He put wooden clading around the mobile to make it look nicer. TIpperary council are demanding it be demolished. One of their reasons is it is not big enough to be lived in full time. Just a few miles down the road from this man, in Clonmel, 82 Rapid build houses are being installed for Ukrainian refugees.

Planning permission gets "exemptions" for certain emergencies which due to no ID is not even established as fact in most cases but here an Irish family in need of a home like thousands gets threatened with jail. Mass immigration, Ireland is a small country, the population is only around 5 million. The rural towns and villages are small so housing for migrants soon absorbs the supply and prices of housing go shooting up. Very few jobs are well paid. There is a lot of money and power involved in housing developments, immigration housing. Sadly the banks are back to lending huge amounts for very basic houses, which deliver massive profits for the developer/landbanker. Then the landlords who know there are people who will pay the maximum rent. It is the same scam in the UK, except the immigration since 1997 is some 10 million around 15% of the population. Now, manageable numbers have been okay, but it has got out of control.

I proposed to a county council to let ME clean up a property of THEIRS to help it on the way to make it livable. They said no, just no. Other Irish have had the same answer. I want to know why. Im sure there are plenty of reasons, health and safety and all the other rubbish! Whats safe about being homeless?? I would hazard a guess that the councils dont want to help people. Im fairly sure the government doesnt want to help anyone either! I did hear before that some man listed all the council properties vacant and reported them to whatever councils. It was said he got a council house in less than 3 years. I suppose that is better than nothing, better than being homeless if true

Most large scale houseing projects are always rejected in ireland by planning autorities like an bord pleaneula and dublin city council and local elected goverment councilers and theirs also a epidemic of nymbyisum plus anything high rise is mostly always turned down 🙄 time and time again
