Look at it like this. Everyday there's a car accident on the road. Every day people slow down to a crawl in the hopes of seeing something horrific. Same thing here you know it's going to start out all innocent, and it pays off in the end, unlike that car accident which is usually a fender bender of little consequence. The person(s) who created the "HowToBasic" channel came up with that name due to the popularity of the keywords being typed into the search bar. I.e "How to make a basic ______?" in order to get views. Their videos started off serious... the viewer got into it... then bam, it turned total nonsense. Same idea as Rick Rolling. Some people liked it I guess (not me). From the video above it seems it has gotten more kookier and has become a sexual fetish thing for both the creator and probably most of his subscribers.
