Appa is in fact an airbender himself. He's shown the capability a couple times, but it's never clarified until later in the show where Aang mentions that the original airbenders were the air bison. You have also seen the original earthbenders before, the badgermoles. They were shown cleaning up the arena where Toph was competing as the blind bandit.

I really appreciate the constant motion in this show. Even when Katara was mad at Toph her face and hands were still moving and twitching. Same with the Mexican stand off there wasn't a way for Aang to get out on his own so when the gang got there every person was at there best. Then when Iroh got hurt they put in added animation for poor Zuko Appa is Aangs bro his baby and animal guide. He does need a nap though

People rag too much on Katara in this episode imo Yes, she had some bad behavior of her own (she’s 14 lol), but understanding that she comes from a tribal community in one of the harshest climates in the world, of course cooperation and mutual support is this important to her. It’s the only option for survival in the South Pole. The novels (particularly Dawn of Yangchen) expands a bit on Water Tribesmen being known to the other nations as some of the most generous people in the world, which is especially cool to me

From my understanding, there are at least two reasons why Azula chose to hit Iroh out of all of them. 1 is that he's the most capable and experienced fighter there, and I'm pretty sure Azula knows that. 2 is that he was distracted by putting two and two together, realizing that Toph was part of the Avatar gang.

I love how Katara's reaction to Iroh being hurt is to immediately try to help him, even though he and Zuko had been trying to capture Aang for months at this point. It shows just how compassionate she is.

The only group Toph ever was sort of part of was a group of pseudo-wrestlers competing for the championship. She has literally never worked together with anyone else in her entire life. Meanwhile Kitara comes from a small community living in one of the harshest enviroments of the world were everyone has to work together out of necessity, so she has 0 experience in dealing with a slacker. On top of that Toph hates how overprotective and controlling her parents were her entire life and Kitara is quite protective in a rather controlling fashion. And Toph is a spoiled, rich kid who never had to lift a single finger, while Kitara as I already mentioned comes from a place were everyone works together, which includes children doing at least some minor chores. It's no wonder the two would end up clashing sooner rather than later.

The first Air Nomads learned airbending from Sky Bisons the same way the first earthbenders learned from Badger Moles. An airbender would get their arrow tattoo in imitation of the Sky Bisons when they became a master.

Man. This episode hurt too much for Alicia to even end proper. But as you can see, Book 2 kind of takes it up..well..3 notches. But Azula, as you saw, regardless of the sleep deprivation, was still going toe to toe with all of them. Which is a sign of her cunning and skill alone. Team Avatar definitely has their hands full when dealing with her. And any cracks in their collective armor is just a sign for her success. Long game or not. Side note: Love the new model. And of course you got the tears set for it aha. Honkai has not prepared you for these tears.

Glad to see you're feeling better. Toph's a rebellious kid, has a lot of power, skill, talent, and is only recently not a member of the bourgeoisie. Learning teamwork is going to be hard. I mean, the two ladies Azula tapped for her squad are both non benders. Aang is very tired and very protective of his only friend left from the Air Nomads. The sudden desert might be from past Fire Nation battles. Tai Lee sacrificed that lizard like a Yoshi. Appa's flight is airbending, and he's been seen using airbending before in other ways. Iroh has been around for a long time. A good 3 way fight is always a delight! Azula honorable? HA! First operation we saw her take was attempted imprisonment of her brother and uncle under a flag of not just truce, but welcoming and forgiving family. Good update on the model with the tears. If your bread and butter is reactions, it's going to see good use.
