Into the Deep Wilds is the first IK Requiem Kickstarter campaign where I missed the Early Bird Special, so I'm missing the Orgoth Compass, but I went all-in and got EVERYTHING, including add-ons (minus the miniatures this time, because I have the deluxe Widower's Wood set in the wooden chest and have more of those than I'll probably ever use). I'm SO excited, I've been studying lore and working on modules for Fantasy Grounds, I hope to start DMing online in the next year.

I've been a fan of the Iron Kingdoms since it came out. I received my kickstarter stuff and love everything in it. I just wish my RPG group was into the steampunk and sorcery aspect of it. Great review.

Looks really cool! I have been so kickstartered out because of PP kickstartering everything that I opted to skip this one. Hopefully will still be able to get the books somewhere though. They do seem high quality and I do love the setting.

Just received my set almost 2 weeks ago and ended up getting one of the not supposed to have shipped copies from the notice. Hope to get my replacement and the add-on's soon. Been into IK since 1st ED Warmachine but never played the RPG, I'm hoping to finally do that with this edition. Even if I don't end up playing I love reading IK lore and such so this was a great purchase just for that IMO.

Wait... so Warmachine got to Reckoning before the new Mk3 Prime and Command books released... with you so far. And then the Hengehold Scrolls came out, and that's not a ton of info but it's during the infernal war conclusions. And Requiem is where the story picks up 5 years later? Oh Doggone it, I want to know what happened to everyone including the Hordes factions, not just the Iron Kingdoms. It's going to be a long 3-4 weeks before we can chat with you to catch up via you, our virtual GM and loremaster lol.

I was an Early Bird, and my books arrived, but the Requiem book is quite warped. Privateer Press, being the awesome folks that they are, are sending a replacement. I have a number of minis along with the tiles and such coming soon. I'm currently painting minis to run Requiem adventures, and look forward to the screams of my players. 😁

I'm even working on some additional artwork so that Legend of the Witchfire has graphic props, rather than black and white outlines.

I think going 5e just appeals to a larger audience. But I did like the old system.

@@rainer.1276 I'm sure it does but I don't support any product shoehorned into D&D. My opinion on this was formed during the glut of d20 products in the 3.x days of D&D when it seemed like everyone was converting their game to D&D (and then took a big hit when WotC ended 3.x). As such I will not spend my money on the new Iron Kingdoms, Adventures in Middle Earth, Victoriana, Doctor Who, and so forth.

I pledged the Early Bird Special, too. I got my box 1, which is going to have 2 books replaced, and I have yet to receive my Box 2 with all the tiles, all the cards and the art book. I didn't buy any minis, because I didn't know what I'd need for the adventure, plus I already have a good few past Iron Kingdoms releases for player characters. I'm working on putting together a campaign in Widower's Wood, probably to continue where all the adventure books leave off. All 4 of them are 1st tier. 😄

I think you're referring to the Totem Hunter, which I believe comes from Zu. The blurb on it only says it comes from "across the southern ocean" so Zu would make sense.

@@ceobloke you have two thing mixed here. Menites following Tristan went to Zu, a whole other continent. Trollbloods have started to settle Alchiere which is to the south east of the Protectorate.

Totem Hunter is from Zu but from what I understated there isnt like a nation of totem hunters or anything like that so I wouldnt expect to see a faction based on them.

I love the Iron Kingdoms, and I have alle of their original books as well as 5th ed dnd, but I dont do kickstarters from companies that arent startupps.

Why? I am genuinely wanting to know why you have an issue with people using KS if they are an established company? If its a model that helps a company you like stay in business, isnt that a good thing?

@@rainer.1276 It's a way for the buisniss to bypass risk - by having all the orders down before production even starts it makes it a very safe bet for the buisniss. On the customer side however, it creates a fear of missing out, a feeling of urgency and an artificial shortage of the products. The creators of Infinity the Game is especially guilty of this, having produced a heap of models that were only ever avalible on their kickstarter. Lastly - a if an established company needs to rely on Kickstarter to stay in buisniss, then I belive it's time for said company to close it's doors, even if I'm a fan of their products.

I don’t do Kickstarters from big companies, and generally don’t do physical Kickstarters at all, as they tend to promise way more than they can deliver. I was a fan of Iron Kingdoms years ago, and getting into it via a rpg campaign would be awesome. Wonder when, and even if, they will be purchasable

They will be, they have already said that. Also I think "big company" might be a stretch for Privateer Press. If the KS model is the best way for the company to release products than what is the issue? I think with distribution being owned by their competitors and forcing them out of the market KS is a smart solution. I dont love the KS model but its better than letting themselves be hamstrung by sticking to a broken distro model.

I'm passing on IK requiem. Mainly because it uses dnd 5th ed. And dnd 5th has no risk and wants shipping wars, no not the cool pirates vs undead kind.

Too bad it's based on 5th edition d and d. Iron kingdoms is not condusive to the 5th ed game mechanics. The 2012 edition has truer mechanics to iron kingdoms. Other then that, nice presentation WGG.

I really enjoyed the 2D6 system as well. The unfortunate reality is that the different system probably limited the audience though. Gamers only have time for so many games so the easier you can jump into a game then the more likely you are to try it (at least I think that's the theory). D&D 5th ed is like the USB cable of the rpg world. =P That said, I could see some more house rules applying to render the world more accurately.

@@WarGamerGirl As a gaming veteran, I agree that most people are resistant to learning a new system (I place the blame on laziness, but that's me). I will point out that, certain games require certain systems in order to get the genre and 'feel' of the game correct. Legend of the Five Rings, Deadlands, and other such games have tried using the D and D system and just came off as awkward, shoe horned and not having the right 'feel' for the universe and the characters in reflection to the mechanics and game. I've played both versions of IK, (D and D, and the IK system from 2012) and easily found the 2012 version much more fitting, and less forced. You got to play EXACTLY what you wanted. Want to be a Warmaster to START? You can. A Gunmage to START? You can. As a skeptic, I highly doubt that will be the case in this game. I could be wrong, but I am a curmudgeon. :P All that said, I hope you enjoy the game regardless. Thanks for the reply. Enjoy :D
