I had a dream about Jerma recently and it was awful. My nightmares are always claymation so that’s how I know they are gonna be bad, I was in my childhood room but instead of sharing a room with my sister I was sharing it with Jerma. I went to school and came home and we played little big planet together, when we were playing he died in the game so many times and I kept laughing at him and he got mad and ran to the bathroom. I followed him in to apologize and he was crying and ripping his clay skin off his face and blood was pouring out and everything, it was just like the scene in Poltergeist but it was Jerma’s claymation face, and then the dream ended. It probably doesn’t sound that scary but my dreams are very immersive and realistic if you can even imagine that in a claymation world.

Jerma does this joke a lot, which is why I'm pointing it out, I hope he knows what he's talking about when he says the Pythagorean theorem is not generally applicable in every day life in America. That kind of argument, that school doesn't do enough to prepare us for the lives we'll live outside it, is not without merit, but it's also easy to forget that there are other kinds of valuable knowledge than just knowing how to be a functional member of society. I'd argue school would be making us WORSE off if the only things we were taught were things strictly relevant to living in late-stage capitalist America. I'm sure he doesn't mean to imply this, but when he mocks schools for teaching the Pythagorean theorem, he's essentially arguing for a world where kids are brought up not knowing the fundamental principles of the universe, and are instead molded into inflexible vegetables that exist just to work. I feel crazy saying this on a Jerma video of all places, but I hear this argument a lot and I want to get it off my chest. Please do not argue for a world where your ability to work is the only thing that matters.
