Iron Maiden are a classic band. And classic in the sense they're now much older. They're great, but for how long? They can't do these long tours anymore. But man, I still love them to death. I've been a fan since 1982.

I've been a Maiden fan for 35 years now. I've been with them through ups and downs. When Bruce got throat cancer, I resigned myself to the belief that his voice would never be the same again. But then he did The Mandrake Project Tour and is now doing this new tour and he sounds incredible! There are performances he did in the Mandrake Project Tour that rival performances he did 30 years ago. Amazing! This is my favorite band. They got me into heavy metal and they have been a part of my life since I was first introduced to them. I've met them a number of times. A Maiden fan since 1980. First saw them in 1981 and last saw them for this tour in 2023, and about 20 in between. You've done a nice job at capturing the essence of Maiden as a band and as live performers. I’m 57. My first concert was Maiden’s “Piece of Mind” tour, 1983 in Lincoln, Nebraska. I haven’t actively consumed their new material since “Powerslave,” but they are without fail the band I see every time they’re nearby. Best bang for the concert buck, from the musicianship and vocals to the pure theater of it. They were my first, they’ll be my last. I’m largely ambivalent when bands past their prime finally retire, but I will genuinely grieve when Maiden hangs it up. And I have a feeling they will do so when they know it’s time vs. milk it for years beyond when they’re worth seeing. If I have one critique of Maiden, it’s that I wish they’d work with a producer who could reconnect them to the classic Maiden sound, like Priest and Accept did. As RazorFist put it, this is a band that hasn’t been told no for 40 years, and it frequently shows in their studio output. But live? Few if any rivals.

I'm a fan of their earlier output - not so much into stuff post '92. Seen them twice, once on the '95 X-Factour and once on the Early Years tour in '05, the latter of which was a dream concert, as they played songs from their first four albums only. I haven't felt inclined to watch them again, however your unbiased presentation made me want to check them out, probably one last time. I reckon the show alone will be worth the ticket, and I wouldn't mind checking out some later material in the live context.

When I was a teen in high school, back in the 80s, I was on a music scholarship. Arrogant jazz fan music teachers constantly told me that the music I liked, such as Maiden, was worthless and inferior. So where are those a-holes today? Probably rotting in their graves with no legacy.

Gosh I don't know how to put this so I don't get crucified. First off Maiden kicks ass live and they are a gold standard compared to so many awful acts out there these days sounding terrible Axl, Jon Bon Jovi etc. Bruce vocally for his age in metal unmatched. However for some reason don't know why after awhile Bruce's vocals begin to annoy and wear on me a bit live. Like a solo song for example Tears of a Dragon love it. However some of the Maiden songs after awhile maybe all the high stuff bothers me. Kind of the same way I can go to an opera and say wow total props that dude can sing technically amazing pure talent but after about 30 minutes of opera it begins to wear on me a bit in person.

@@michaelyatsco1958 love this opinion mate! There’s much to say about all these 80s and 90s bands where the singers are now much older and it so hard to keep hitting those notes night after night! Like you mentioned, GNR, Bon Jovi, Motley Crüe. Agree Bruce seems to be holding the fort the best.
