To me there's such a special energy in Maiden's albums since the 2000s (beginning with Brave New World). It truly feels like they caught this incredible second wind of creativity as they all got older with the same thrust as they had in the 80s. Many bands crashed and burned and many bands simply became stale where we would be lucky to hear a couple good songs on any given album. These guys are truly legends.

Iron Maiden never disappoints. There are lots of bands out there which release albums after years, but you don't feel the same vibes from the past elegant years. Their live performances suck, they don't seem to be enjoying on the stage. And there is IM. Even in their 60s, still producing great albums, amazing live performances and they seem to enjoy to be on the stage. It's their passion. Their music, their energy is everything. I'm in my mid 20s and I don't have the stamina and energy of these guys. @@NothingToDismay I don't say that they don't have any bad songs. It's impossible. Of course there are songs that don't meet the expectations. But evaluating the overall quality of the albums, and comparing with the other bands, IM songs are just another level. I listen to other bands as well but if I have to make a list of my all time favorite songs, most of them would be IM songs. The composition, the riffs, the solos, the storytelling, the vocals... they are very good at all these things. As for the 2 songs from Senjutsu album, I guess everyone has different taste. I really like them. Galloping vibes of Stratego gives the feeling of Powerslave era. Bruce's vocals remind me of Brave New World times. Steve's bass, Nicko's rhytm... everything in its place. Went to the Highland games and there was a group of Harpists that played rock songs. Looked cool but I had to leave early. My wife and kids stuck around and caught their show. Later that night, I asked my 6 year old son what he thought, and without batting an eye he says “They played some Iron Maiden. Somewhere in time and Hallowed be thy name...” Now, of course he’s going to hear songs his dad plays, but for him to be able to recognize them as instrumentals means these harmonies and melodies that these guys created so many years ago, are still reaching and impacting young ears. It’s a testament to how well these songs are crafted and how much these guys put into them.

One thing you can never say about Maiden is that they are in it for the money or "selling out to commercialism." A) they already have enough money to purchase a hemisphere of the planet B) they always do their own thing. Moody Blues in a Maiden song... erhm... ok. But Maiden will make it work. Anyone remember a B-side release they did called "Reach Out?" It had Adrian singing and Bruce doing backup vocals. That song, if they'd pushed it mainstream would have absolutely KILLED IT on pop charts. But no, Maiden put it on a b-side. lol
