Song was going to be called Dune because that is what it is about but Frank Herbert,rhe author of Dune, didn't give permission to use the name, so Maiden went with "To Tame a Land"

Saw this in Aug. 1983 from the 10th row center stage on the floor. Only tour they've played it. Was the highlight of the show IMO. Murray, Smith and Harris were grouped together in the middle for the whole 2nd half of the song. Hard to describe how damn good that was.

@Brad After Dark The song was written in January 1983 an originally called Dune, after the 1965 book by Frank Herbert. Steve Harris was told him he could not call it Dune, so he renamed the song. December 1984 the movie Dune was released. So that was why Steve was denied. 14 months later Frank died. 2021 they remade the movie & part 2 was supposed to be released a year later; Noe said to be out in a few months now. I haven't seen the Remake but the story is great & worth a read if you can ever get around to it? Keep up the great reactions & Take care- j~

@@azzajames7661 I am a massive maiden fan have since I was 12 I'm now 45, I am well aware of how much of an influence they have been. Iron maiden started modern metal....but nobody asks for songs from the albums you mentioned to Be put on maidens setlist, hallowed be thy name run to the hills the trooper etc are always there and they are from the 80s which is what people always want. Like I said PEAK iron maiden.

@@bazzingabomb Fear of the dark is asked for a lot, which is from the 90s. They are currently doing a tour with their latest album, and they have sold out stadiums all around the world, so I would say there is a demand for their later, brilliant songs, too🤘

Yes. But nothing they’ve done from 2000 until currently can hold a candle to those wary Maiden albums. 1980-1988 are their glory years. Their later work pales by comparison.
