Remember that this movies all have an extra scene after the credits. Some of them even have more than one spliced during the credits, so pay close attention to that, since you seemed to have missed the one in this movie that sets up the conective tread for the next films. Also, just in case you get confused (since I've seen other reactors that made that mistake), the next film is "The Incredible Hulk", not just "Hulk", which was a different movie made a few years before. While that one was also good, it's part of a different continuity with no links to the broader MCU. Also, yes, the release order is the best way to go, not only with Marvel but with Star Wars. While the chronological order is indeed different in both cases, those movies that were filmed after but are placed before the others are still made with the idea that you watched the previous ones, so many things will only make sense when watching them in the release order.

This was PERFECT! Don't change a thing (except for watching the ending credit scenes, LOL). It's great that you know nothing about these films and it's very rare because spoilers are everywhere. One thing I haven't seen anyone else mention is that the OG Spider-Man movies are a great entry-level start to superhero movies, particularly Marvel superhero movies. It's definitely recommended watching to sprinkle in the movies below between main MCU movies: Spider-Man 1 Spider-Man 2 Spider-Man 3 The Amazing Spider-Man 1 The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Particularly because they show how the genre has changed in the last 20 years. And the OG 3 Spider-Man movies pretty much dominated the 2000s, pop culture wise. Anywho, welcome to the MCU officially: enjoy the journey!

There are basically three groups of super-hero movies... DC - Which includes Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, The Flash, JUSTICE LEAGUE, and more... MARVEL - Which includes Iron man, Hulk, Thor, Captain America, Spider-man, THE AVENGERS, and more... INDEPENDANT FILMS - which include other super-hero movies, like The Watchmen. In MARVEL, they had, for a long time, individual films and series (not exactly connected to each other), like The X-Men movies, The Spider-man movies, The Amazing Spider-man movies, The Fantastic Four, and Deadpool, and a few others. Since 2006, they created the MCU (The Marvel Cinematic Universe), a series of interconnected films (starting with the movie you're watching now IRON MAN). These movies each has it's own little story, but is connected to the other films that come before and after it, with re-occurring characters and over-lapping story-arcs. For the past few years, the MCU is slowly bringing in the other independent Marvel movies that were made before the creation of the MCU, by showing connections to them, and even a few returning characters from those stand-alone films. For the MCU movies, just search "LIST OF MCU MOVIES" on Wikipedia and follow them in order of release. Mix in the occasional film or series of films made before the MCU and you'll find yourself fully immersed in this wonderful world of super-hero movies. Congratulations on starting your fantastic journey with us!! :)

3 things to look for in every MCU movie: 1. Post-credit bonus scenes. Often more than one in a movie. 2. Stan Lee cameos. 3. The one scene where someone falls/jumps/ejects from an airplane or helicopter. In almost every MCU movie. Here, you saw the pilot eject after Iron Man crashes through his wing.

10:10 with every first appearance of every main character they always get their powers later, or immediately explained that they can do that, or perhaps they will learn later in a different movie that they have a certain power. But most of the time the job of every first movie=origin movie is to give our heroes their powers so they wont have them from the beginning.

One of the wonderful things about these movies is that they were written for people who know nothing about them and they also have Easter eggs (and of course characters and stories) that are there to be recognized by long-time fans of the comics. I'm sure others have mentioned it, but two things to watch for in every movie are the little extra scenes during and after the credits (between one and three or four after each movie) and also for a cameo appearance by Stan Lee who started working at Marvel (then called Timely Comics) in 1939 and led the company for many years. In this movie he appeared briefly portraying Hugh Hefner at the Stark gala where Tony and Pepper danced. It's a fun kind of Where's Waldo game looking for him in every movie.

You have been told to watch for the after the credit scenes but another thing to look for in each of these film is the cameo of Stan Lee. Stan was involved in the creation of many Marvel characters in the comics. He make a brief cameo in almost all of these films before he passed. He even did cameos in some of the older films featuring Marvel characters. like the older X-men and Spider-man films. In this film he's the guy at the party Tony mistakes for Hef (Hugh Hefner) when he first arrives.

Great reaction! I always loved that they basically took the original Iron Man origin story from the comics and retold it, with some obviously needed updates and changes. One obvious example being that the original took place in the Vietnam War (since Iron Man the comics started in the sixties) and they updated it to the War in the Gulf. Even to the fellow captive giving his life to allow Tony the chance to have the suit fully powered. The scrap-built suit even looked identical to the early comics suit. Pepper's reaction is not really unusual. Sometimes the psychological reaction to terror is just shock and disbelief: the 'I must be dreaming' reaction. I've actually seen that reaction in person. The typical reaction is fight or flight, but it's not unusual to just be stuck in disbelief. Also, she did such a good job with the role otherwise that we know that that had to be the reaction they scripted for her. That way she'd be there and available for when Tony needed her to overload the arc reactor and blow the roof. If she had run far away like many would have, she'd also be completely unwilling to go back in and overload the arc reactor. Always watch the credits for the extra scenes. They foreshadow upcoming events.

Hey, Pilar! FIVE TIPS: 1. Watch the credits all the way through so you don't miss END-CREDIT SCENES! 2. Point out Marvel Universe co-creator STAN LEE! Stan cameos in most Marvel movies like Hitchcock and it's fun to spot him! He was the dapper elderly gent mistaken for Hugh Hefner by Tony on the red carpet! 3. Include the ONE-SHOTS! There are five shorts called One-Shots associated with five of the movies in Phase 1. They are canonical and available on DP. The one paired with "Captain America: The First Avenger" is the Agent Carter One-Shot which can alternatively be seen as a coda to the first 8-episode Season of the "Agent Carter" series. 4. Take breaks to incorporate NON-MCU Marvel movies and series as they, too, get merged into the MCU narrative. These include 13 X-Men movies, 6 Spider-Man movies, 2 Venom movies, 1 Hulk movie and Netflix Daredevil. 5. If you know very little about the Hulk, I highly recommend seeing Ang Lee's 2003 "Hulk" as it covers the ORIGIN of the Hulk whereas the MCU film doesn't. The movie is NON-CANON pre-dating the MCU but it has a great cast, director, score and comic accurate sequences seen in no other MCU film in which the Hulk appears. It even ENDS where the MCU "Incredible Hulk" BEGINS!!! It was supposed to be the STARTING POINT for the MCU initially but it failed to gain traction at the box office because audiences were not accustomed to a serious approach to superhero films at the time. Ang Lee is an Oscar-winning director responsible for such films as "Eat Drink Man Woman", "Sense and Sensibility", "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon", "Ride with the Devil", "Brokeback Mountain", "Life of Pi" and "Gemini Man". RECOMMENDED SEQUENCE FOR PHASE 1: 0. (HULK (2003)) [OPTIONAL proto-MCU Hulk origin] 1. IRON MAN 2. IRON MAN 2 + A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Thor's Hammer One-Shot 3. THE INCREDIBLE HULK + The Consultant One-Shot 4. THOR 5. CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER + Agent Carter One-Shot 6. THE AVENGERS + Item 47 One-Shot 7. (Agent Carter: Season 1 + Agent Carter One-Shot) [OPTIONAL Interphase Interlude]

Enjoyable reaction, Pilar. You've gained a fan. Be aware that some superhero movies are hollow popcorn flicks and so some people tend to think of them all as being that way. But what Marvel did successfully for the first 12 years of this journey is to remain character based. Their focus was on the journey of the person and not on the superhero element. Iron Man, for example, was a redemption story, but with an added superhero element. Character is the focus, superhero is the bonus. Just like the cartoons you said you liked. Some have depth and passion that appeal to everybody. Some are just stupid kid films meant to make a quick buck. I hope you have fun on this journey.

Welcome to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU)! “Hope you survive the experience” :-) (a recurring joke from the comics) Some things to consider when watching the MCU: -Scenes within the credits. Marvel films have extra scenes in the middle of, and/or after the credits. They certainly expand the experience, and may contain important story elements. There’s an end credit scene in Iron Man. -Stan Lee. Stan Lee was a founding Father at Marvel Comics, in the classic period as the Publisher, Editor-in-Chief, and co-creator of many of Marvel’s classic characters. He has a cameo scene in every Marvel film, including Iron Man whom Tony calls Heff (a reference to Hugh Hefner). Keep an eye out for him. It’s safe to google his image, and wouldn’t spoil reading the first Wikipedia paragraph. It’s fun to make a game of spotting him. -Spoilers: the MCU takes place in one large universe, with one epic running story filled with exciting characters. Because there are so many films having been released, dramatic story elements are publicly known. The MCU is best enjoyed spoil-free in order to enjoy dramatic reveals. -Release Order. These films’ story is revealed by Marvel Studios in the order they are released. However, some stories are set earlier in the “history” of the universe. It’s best to reserve watching the MCU in chronological order for subsequent viewings so content doesn’t spoil the experience. Once again, welcome to the journey. It’s worth the experience. :-) 🎉

There is a game to play in each movie. You should play "Where is Stan?" Stan Lee is the creator or co-creator of several of the superheroes in the comics books. Since you did not mention him today, let me help. Today, he was pretending to be Hugh Hefner, the original editor and creator of Playboy Magazine. Dont forget to play "Where is Stan?"

By the time she'd made this film, Gwyneth Paltrow had already won an Academy award for work she'd done in her 20s. Then, she kinda backed out of films for awhile, and did a few things, until she was offered the role of Pepper Potts. I think they needed someone with enough acting chops to share the screen convincingly with Robert Downey, Jr. -- another outstanding actor, but who'd had some personal problems and was trying to re-build his career. I'm not sure Paltrow took the role seriously, in this first film. However, as the Marvel movies began to have profound cultural influence, I think she realized what she'd kinda-sorta stumbled into, almost by accident. So, Paltrow started to take the role more seriously in the later films and, to be fair, they give Pepper a lot more to do than just be Tony's smart, sassy love-interest. They also *paid* everyone a lot more, and that helps focus people's attention. Additionally, Pepper is a role she can sit down and watch with her children, unlike some of Paltrow's more dramatic portrayals in more serious films.

I'd like to say that "Rhodey" played by Terrence Howard will be recast by Don Cheadle for the next movie. Just so you don't get super confused why there is a new guy all of a sudden.

Burger King actually has a different meaning to the star of the film. I am not sure that any form of payment was given. This is how the story goes. Robert Downey Jr. was a famous young actor who got deeply involved in drugs. At one of his lowest points of his addiction he was so unhappy with his life that the food in front of him (Burger King) gave him feelings dread for his future. So he took the food and all his drugs and threw them into the Ocean. He credits that moment for turning his life around, so Tony eating it also during his transition from darkness to light has symbolic value beyond just product placement.

Geeks are the best kinds of people. We love what we love, and we love when other people are introduced and invited to enjoy the things we love. You should never be afraid to face judgment from fans as someone new to something. They really tend to be some of the most welcoming individuals on things. If someone does give grief about a person's journey discovering something new, well, they're just a hater.

Tony Stark's assistant was played by Gwyneth Paltrow. And no, it wasn't her first role. Oh, definitely not :) The movie "Iron Man" had its premiere in 2008. Previously, Gwyneth Paltrow performed in in such films as "The Talented Mr. Ripley", "A Perfect Murder", "Great Expectations", "Emma", "Se7en", or "Shakespeare in Love" from 1998, for which she received an Oscar for Best Actress. The antagonist in the first Iron Man was played by Jeff Bridges, also an actor who won an Oscar for Best Actor in a Leading Role for his role in Crazy Heart.

I gotchu with the chronological story order, in this order the movies will make the most sense. Just try to watch them in order and don't forget those juicy end credit scenes (normally there are 2 post credit scenes in every movie.) I know it's a lot but you will not regret diving into the Marvel Multiverse. Also it's fine if you can't watch or record the Disney+ stuff, but if u can that would be tight. Looking forward to seeing you react to everything as a true first time viewer.😁😁😁😁 PHASE 1 Captain America: The First Avenger Captain Marvel Iron Man Iron Man 2 The Incredible Hulk Thor The Avengers PHASE 2 Thor: The Dark World Iron Man 3 Captain America: The Winter Soldier Guardians of the Galaxy Guardians of the Galaxy 2 Avengers: Age of Ultron PHASE 3 Ant-Man Captain America: Civil War Black Widow Spider-Man: Homecoming Black Panther Doctor Strange Thor: Ragnarok Ant-Man and the Wasp Avengers: Infinity War Avengers: Endgame PHASE 4 Loki (Disney+ TV Show) What If...? (Disney+ TV Show) WandaVision (Disney+ TV Show) Spider-Man: Far From Home Falcon & Winter Soldier (Disney+ TV Show) Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings Eternals Spider-Man: No Way Home Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness Hawkeye (Disney+ TV Show) Moon Knight (Disney+ TV Show) She Hulk (Disney+ TV Show) Ms. Marvel (Disney+ TV Show) Thor: Love and Thunder Werewolf By Night (Disney+ Presentation) Black Panther: Wakanda Forever Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special (Disney+ Presentation) Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania

Hey, Pilar! Welcome to the Marvel Cinematic Universe! "Iron Man" is the kick-off to a spectacular cinematic journey that altered the industry paradigm. The MCU is a series of 20+ interrelated films culminating in a huge 2-part movie event! The movies are all based on Marvel Comics characters who were co-created beginning in 1961 by editor/writer Stan Lee and artist Jack Kirby. Unlike other comic universes, the Marvel Universe is set in our world with many of the principals residing in New York City. What is distinctive about the Marvel pantheon is that the characters all have feet of clay; they struggle to measure up to the burden of power. Stan, Jack and artist Don Heck introduced Iron Man in 1963 in the anthology title "Tales of Suspense" expressly modeling the character on Howard Hughes and deliberately going against the anti-establishment grain of the '60's by making him a capitalist arms dealer. Insulated by wealth and ego, the epiphany he experiences and the life-threatening wound he incurs as a result of his captivity made him vulnerable and relatable to a readership predisposed to mistrusting a quintessential captain of industry. Moreover, Tony, in the comics, is also humanized by being an inveterate alcoholic which is barely alluded to in the films. The trick worked and the dichotomy hooked readers. Reframing his captors from Vietnamese Communist guerrillas in the comics to Afghan Islamicist mujahideen, the first Iron Man film adapts Tony's origin and the "Iron Monger" story arc. Iron Man was a second tier Marvel character known famously for his extravagant wealth and his endless struggle with alcoholism. Jon Favreau was an indie writer/director with one mainstream comedy hit, "Elf", under his belt. Robert Downey, Jr. was a respected former Brat Packer whose bankable days were behind him and who was then known more for drug addiction, womanizing and a motor mouth. This film should not have worked. After an aborted attempt at a shared universe with the Hulk in 2003 directed by serious auteur Ang Lee, Marvel threw the dice with Tony Stark and improbably won! It was kismet. Very rarely does an actor so ideally match a role. Downey, Jr. was BORN to play Tony Stark. His arc in the MCU is one of the best character developments I've ever seen in cinema. Remember Yinsen's last words, "Don't waste your life.", because Stark never forgets them. The cast is excellent. To support RDJ, Oscar-winner Jeff Bridges was brought aboard as Obadiah Stane setting a precedent of enlisting top-tier talent for MCU films. Gwyneth Paltrow as Virginia 'Pepper' Potts, Terrence Howard as Lt. Col. James 'Rhodey' Rhodes, Paul Bettany as disembodied JARVIS and director Jon Favreau himself as Harold 'Happy' Hogan round out the Stark stable. Shaun Toub is affecting as Stark's savior Yinsen and Faran Tahir exudes menace as Ten Rings terrorist Raza. Unflappable Clark Gregg introduces SHIELD as Agent Phil Coulson and Samuel L. Jackson makes his first appearance as Director Nick Fury. Leslie Bibb has a bit part as ambitious journalist Christine Everhart as does Tim Guinee as USAF Major Allen. Blink and you'll miss Nazanin Boniadi of "Homeland" and "The Rings of Power" as a television news correspondent reporting from Gulmira and veteran character actor Bill Smitrovich as a General attending Stark's Jericho demonstration. Former child actor Peter Billingsley from the holiday classic "A Christmas Story" plays the technician chewed out by Stane for being unable to miniaturize the arc reactor. TRIVIA: 1. As a tribute to Howard Hughes, who served as a template for both Howard and Tony Stark, production was based in the former Hughes Company soundstages in Playa Vista. Tony's garage/lab is the area where Hughes assembled the H-4 Hercules airplane aka 'The Spruce Goose'. 2. The original script was discarded right before production began so each day's scenes were improvisationally workshopped between the cast, director and producers just prior to shooting resulting in an indie sensibility which Jeff Bridges has affectionately referred to as "a $200 million student film!" EASTER EGGS: 1. The Ten Rings terrorist organization refers to the ten alien rings worn by Stark's traditional comic book nemesis, The Mandarin. 2. Raza, leader of the terror cell, is named after but bears no resemblance to a cyborg space pirate from the comics who is part of a crew of interstellar corsairs and X-Men allies known as the Starjammers. 3. JARVIS is an acronym for 'Just A Rather Very Intelligent System'! The namesake for Tony's operating system is the human butler who looked after him as a child and who serves the Avengers in the comics: Edwin Jarvis. Mr. Jarvis plays a significant role in the TV series "Agent Carter" portrayed by James D'Arcy. 4. If viewed chronologically, then these are the second appearances of Coulson and Fury in the saga. CAMEO: 1. Co-creator STAN LEE shows up in every Marvel movie for a Hitchcock-style CAMEO! In "Iron Man", he's the elderly gent in the smoking jacket with his arms around two nubile blondes who gets mistaken for Hugh Hefner by Tony on the red carpet! Lol. END-CREDIT SCENE: 1. Almost all Marvel movies have multiple bonus scenes during and after the credits. The "Iron Man" end-credit scene shows Nick Fury approach Tony Stark about the Avenger Initiative. The next chronological stop in the MCU is "Iron Man 2" and its companion One-Shot "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Thor's Hammer" found on DPlus.

So glad we have someone else getting into the MCU! Just stay on the release order, not chronological order. You are entering into a larger world, you may not realize how big yet! For example, there are a lot of great callbacks from some of the other storylines. So, I highly recommend you watch those too! I am thinking mainly about 6 spiderman movies (SM1,2, & 3, TASM 1&2, SMitSV, release order (duh), plus 2 more venom movies) There is also the X-men series, with those 10 movies (no. I refuse to count TNM) There is also the first Hulk movie with Eric Banna. You can easily skip it if you want to. It just gives you Hulks origin story. This isn't official MCU canon though. But I say watch earlier, because the longer you wait, the more cringe and low quality it will feel compared to more recent stuff. What is nice is you can sprinkle these around, but it would be good if you can have them done about the time you finish the 4th Avengers movie, as that is when they do more callbacks. And yeah, as others said, try to avoid the post credits that are just trailers. Those do give a lot away IMHO
