Yeah I had a friend that actually invented those solid state relays for those 32 E generators yeah do that first but you probably still gonna have to ajust the brushes, maybe not anyway yeah you definitely don't want those mechanical ones cause they're sticking and all of a sudden you'll find out you have no battery anyway talk to you later man have a good one

When I worked as a mechanic at Paul Smart's motorcycle business in Paddock Wood, Kent in the70s, he ordered two Sportster Cafe Racers for two local brothers. I was riding my 1943 WLC Harley at that time and when Paul asked me to put some miles on them prior to their collection, I couldn't believe my luck. Lovely A and B Road machines. They never sold well here in The UK unfortunately but I loved them.

They didn't sell well in US either, most bikers in the day wanted a traditional Harley. In fact the previous owner told me he rescued it from the guy he bought it off of who bought it new, he was going to chop it!

That's a wonderful right there, this is I'd be willing to say the only XLCR right now getting loved and cared for on KZbin. It'd be so great if you recorded this beauty with an external mic when you ride it, there isn't any quality video out there of an XLCR being ridden with proper audio without wind buffeting. Usually people put an external mic inside their backpack and later in post sync it with the video to get quality audio for onboards.

Thanks hooligan!! I appreciate you watching!! And I apologize for the poor audio quality. I do use an external mic, the rode wireless go 2 set up. They are a great wireless microphones, but not really intended to be clipped inside my full face helmet, right next to my mouth!!! And I can’t seem to download the rode app into my laptop, (I’m still working on that) which would allow me to do post sound tweaking to get better audio in editing!! I do have a small clip on Lavalier from Rode, that plugs into my wireless mic, that would fit in my helmet better and possibly give me better sound but I have yet to try it -I’m so damn busy!!! But I’ll keep working on my audio issues!!! But trust me, i watch my own videos back, and I’m 100% happy with it, and if it bothers me, I know it bothers other people. But I appreciate the info and the help. You’re the man !!! one day I’ll get good sounding videos like you and T-bone!!! Thanks again!!! 👍🍺 SLICK

cool, I have a 79 ch also, only 144 made, last of the kickers, PO installed an electric leg on it though, call it an alternative upgrade, trying to keep it basically stock, worth more that way, my back and a hard tail wouldn't get along, 64 here, got a 80 FXE aka Gertrude, 82 FLHS 88" stroker, that's Elvira the road sofa, and a 83 FXRS no name yet, still in progress, then a 69 XLH project, 77 XLH aka Betsy, and a couple 79 XLH project bikes I bought together really cheap $800 and a crackhead 91 EVO sportster for $400 project, I have a sickness. trained HD mechanic from the 80s

Yeah Terry, that was the most amazing Ironhead I ever rode -felt smooth. Had some pep, just all around great bike. And no, it’s not a rubber mounted engine mounts up the same way any Ironhead engine mounts up!!! I have been running down the road off in BFE and feel the bike running out of gas, reach down to switch to reserve, only to find it already there, that really sucks. I don't think I've forgot to turn on the gas more than 100 times in my 48 years of riding.

😂 yeah i almost can guarantee, not to many older guys watching have ever even ridden one- as much as they were despised in the 70’s. I do consider myself lucky to have the chance to rip around on one!!! And i was blown away how great it felt!!! Now im dreading putting that dam Batman suit on and riding her around town!!! And wow, knowing your a Flathead guy, I’m surprised you made it that far in the video to hear me say you guys hated the ugly cafe racer cause you were probably riding choppers!!! 😂😂😂 im impressed!! Hey didn’t you recently take a trip out to California? Or am i thinking about someone else…. In any event, time to get back to the big twin stuff. Tested my flathead tonight, it is definitely way over charging my 6v battery, my voltmeter at times, while revving the motor, would hit 11v, 12v, and a couple times 15volts!!!!!!!!!!!! Whoaaa!! 😂 so before i go and adjust my brushes, to put out a lower voltage, I’m gonna swap out my old mechanical relay,(probably the culprit) with a solid state cut out relay I picked up- and then see what she puts out to the battery then!! Careful with those 40 year old Eagles, they can be harder than that pencil eraser you wake up with every morning ! The 79 XLCH was built with the same motor, frame, forks, wheels, brakes & Siamese exhaust as the XLCR. 149 XLCHs were made with kick start only, making them lighter/faster than the CR. My only question is where did you put the beer, whiskey & deodorant ? 😂

Yup, that’s why I’m not truly beatin’ up on that XLCR -for one, It’s not mine. I don’t wanna fuck up Billy’s bike and for two , the tires are old!!! and yes, I know about the 79 xlch, i own a 79 XLCH - the chopper i built, and I know they came with the Siamese pipe as well, and it’s funny my 79 is kickstart only and everyone always questioned me on that and I didn’t know why!! And to answer your question in the video I’m wearing a backpack that I can fit a 12 pack of beer, cans and a bottle of whiskey , no problem. I don’t like to show that on camera cause I look like a fucking nerd!!!! 😂😂😂😂 👍🍺

Yeah, also ambient air temperatures affects a regulators output. So I wasn’t concerned it didn’t hit 14 V- it was close enough- It probably does out there on the road and when it’s a little warmer out. 👍🍺
