Congrats! I know the feeling you're talking about from during/after the race because I've also experienced something similar during distance events. It SUCKS and feels so bizzare, but (if you don't mind my sharing bc I'm not trying to give unsolicited advice--just share my experience) I've found that eating some solid foods (1/2 a pb&j works great for me) at an easy point in the later part of the race can really help with my stomach and mid-event brain fog. Also, I think sometimes overdoing the caffeine might negatively affect me? Still working that one out! Thanks for a great recap! This is super informative as someone training for their first Ironman next year! :)

thanks! good points. I packed solid food in all my transiton/personal needs bags but didn't take it. A banana probably wouldve been nice in T2!

Congrats you’re a beast! It was my first Ironman too and I think I will do another one again. Also I was the guy who recognized you at swim start in the front of the line 🎉

Amazing 1st ironman results 👏. I unfortunately dnf'd this race. I was dizzy off of t2. Seeing how I couldn't take in fuel I needed to structure that into training. I too started miss the 70.3 distance..but I want to love the full distance so bad,I plan to try this race again next year.

Absolutely amazing! Does the total time include the time during transition as well? I second that, doing a marathon in 2025! Congratulations on the soon to happen wedding. The future looks bright guys.

Congrats. give it time you will sign up for another LOL. I have had the same issues at you in the past. Espcially if its hot. I feel like absolute death after the race and just want to curl up and die. This year I found that if I make sure to get nutrition (you may have been over gels at this point, but you could try skratch or something)late in the race I feel better, its like my blood sugar crashed after.

Do you train with power meters? Or do you only do structured workouts on Zwift?

Congrats!! I also thought "this is a thing mentally ill people do" between miles 19 and 24 of the run.
