One thing about this show - they have Spider-Man interacting with his family and friends. Very few Tokusatsu shows at the time gave a few minutes every few episodes to supporting cast and slice of life. Japanese culture at the time integrated bits of English, especially American English. We'd spent decades after the war in the country, so bits like "thank you" entered the vocabulary. As for firing up the web shooters and Leopardon powers, the English sounds cool and is exotic to the audience, just like Latin for spells in something like Harry Potter.

The GIANT ROBOT HE USING reminds me of the POWER RANGERS

It inspired them, and I think they may have used some of the costumes. Don't hold me to that last part thought.

sadly, the leopardon suit got damaged over time, so all too soon the battles will be mostly stock footage.

Oh, that's too bad! I am actually enjoying this zany Ultraman/Spiderman show!
@Skaramine28 күн бұрын
Even Ultraman, the first Tokusatsu, had three different costumes for his season of 39 episodes.

Oh, there's plenty of reused footage in these early episodes, too.

@@dwashbur and its fun to spot too. just saying it will be more obvious in time, once the suit is no longer useable. still, we do have marveller to thank for giant robots appearing in super sentaii shows.

You said that the reporter girl should be suspicious because the editor is sending her alone and unarmed to track a murderous monster. In comic books and shows like this, that actually does happen sometimes though. I remember in the comics when Perry has Jimmy get photos in situations that were pretty dangerous with supervillains doing villain things

Milord, I still have decks of punch cards. They are, of course, FORTRAN programs. 😀

What version? I used FORTRAN 4.
@markloveless100125 күн бұрын
@@dwashbur Same here. FORTRAN 77 was still a gleam in their eyes. I took the class the summer before college - one week of 10-12 hour days. FORTRAN in three days, RPG in two. I remember I had nightmares of filling out RPG cards endlessly....

I THOUGHT he said "Thank you" in English, but I thought I was just hearing things! Yea, that IS odd! I can understand calling for weapons in English-it gives it a certain atmosphere, but that was kind of random

Don't know about the weapon names but my best guess is the English names were shorter to save time.
