🤣Ha! This is funny finding your video. Tomorrow were surprising our son a 2007 Cayman S with 52k miles for his 17th birthday. He might be a bit spoiled but he doesn't act like it one bit. He's straight A's and plays soccer for an MLS Academy team so he's very mature for his age. Not only that he has been driving my C7 Corvette (safely) for the passed year like rock star so, why not.

I think the Cayman would be a great first car IF you take a an additional driving course. Best accident is the ones you can avoid and cars like the Cayman take the cake when it comes to accident avoidance.
@joelstatosky18173 жыл бұрын
I can not recommend this enough. If you have enough money to get a Porsche as a first car, then you should be able to pay 1-3k in order to get proper sports car driving lessons. I recommend the 80's 911 as a first car more. less power
@KingOfBanks5 жыл бұрын
Probably should do a driving course if you can afford one of these as a first car, cornering speeds available potentially high (fine if you appreciate balance and grip, maybe a bad idea for a rookie). Agree with the manual transmission philosophie.

Hi man, I am planning to buy 2006-2008 Cayman or cayman s (Europe), ı can really use some advices if you have time. First of all I am inclined to automatic transmission but not decided, how good auto transmission for those years?
@johncary43024 жыл бұрын
Don't know if you've bought the Cayman yet, but do not get auto in the first gen. From what I've heard it's just not good. It was before they perfected any sort of PDK system so it is confusing and can be slower (due to driver confusion) than a manual. Can't go wrong with a manual; who wants to get a Porsche when its auto, enjoy rowing your own gears. If you haven't gotten the Cayman yet, then yep, the first gen is a safe place to start. Make sure that you aren't getting a garage queen because it could be more susceptible to the IMS engine bearing failure. It is highly unlikely; however, it could still happen. By getting some a little bit more run in, you know that the engine oil has been circulating around that bearing and won't be dry, so you're good to go. Also, I would recommend trying to find a Cayman S. This is the 3.4 engine and an absolute must over the 2.8 regular version. It's peppier, spritely, and is faster. It feels more like the Cayman should always be. Also try to find a car with the sport chrono package; you will know if it has it by looking in the interior and seeing if there is a 'clock' in the middle of the top of the dashboard, that is the chrono. The perks to having this package is the sport button down below on the center console that allows the throttle response to be much more sharp. Again, a nice thing to have in this car. If you've already bought your car, then I hope you're having plenty of fun in it!

@@johncary4302 thank you very much John, I will consider all your recommendations. I am living in a European country with very limited options in the buying market but manual will be definitely a pre-requisite for me. Btw which years are first gen years? 2006-2010?
@johncary43024 жыл бұрын
@@kaandervis6276 First gen is 2006-2008. All the 2006 cars were made as the S version whereas 2007 marked the first year as the 2.8 engine non-S version.
