Is ASAP Tire Any Good?

***I would not recommend these tires for normal street driving. They're too wide and too sticky for everyday use. But perfect for autocross or light track days. Your tire tech may struggle to get tires this wide on stock wheels. It should work, but tip your tire guy. He's gonna have to put his back into it to get them on. Stiff sidewall on these tires. 😳 1:27 when he slides the wheels on the asphalt! I just ordered new wheels and tires. I had horrible experiences getting tires changed. Every time I see damage to my wheels. My tires are super low profile. Im thinking of giving this company a try to install my fresh wheels. Avant-garde M520r dark graphite metallic wheels. Did you experience any damage from install? Do they take pictures of wheels? Do they give any guarantees if they damage any wheels ?

They took pictures of the wheels before and after. Only the front. These wheels are brand new. And they didn't have any damage that I was able to find. I did throw down a moving blanket on the driveway to avoid any damage on the rear. As far as I guarantee? I'm not sure. Have to read the fine print on that one.

OOOF - at 2:30, when he forces the tire on the wheel, the tire was not in the drop centre, but he just forced it on. I can't tell from the video, but it appears to me that he didn't have enough lube on those tires. I could almost hear the bead ripping from Canada... I wouldn't allow that with any of my technicians. We have the proper tools to make sure that tires are in the DROP CENTER of the wheels, this guy hasn't been trained right, hasn't been supplied with the right tools, or isn't going by the PROPER procedures for tires like that. Man, that sound of the rubber under stress at 2:20-2:30 will give guys like me nightmares.

I won't comment too much because I don't know anything about tire mounting. But I will say that these autocross tires have a super stiff sidewall so there is no way that it was going to be an easy job. Now I have to go understand what the "drop center" means. You've intrigued me into learning more about tire mounting.

@@GoodmorningGoodnight The drop center is the part of the wheel that is indented more towards the center, where the bead needs to rest on install so that you don't rip the bead of the tire. The bead was clearly not in the drop center when he installed it, and I would bet $100 that if the tire was inspected, there is damage to the bead of the tire. From what I saw, I could not believe that there was no damage at all. Good luck.

Ooh, nice! In the driveway mounting and balancing! But the big question, do the wider tires on the PF01s fit under the fenders???

Hopefully! Mounting them on the car soon! Just waiting for some warmer weather. I'm expecting one more snow in March. Lol

@@GoodmorningGoodnight Yep, sounds like you have similar weather to here in the Chicago area. I would love to get the Evora out now, but probably not until sometime in April when the salt has been all cleared off the roads. So, I'm very excited to see those wheels and tires on your car. Greg from GRP knows his stuff, so I think they'll work out well.
