I've only ever seen the extended edition. And, yes I agree; this film is a true masterpiece. And that's coming form a comic book fan! I think it delivers on all the points you've made in your detailed critique. BvS shows both burden of responsibility, and conflicted choices a superhero would have to bear, and make. And how someone in Bruce Wayne's/Bat-mans position, could over time, become quite jaded! With a similar conflict for Clark Kent/Super-man, being held up as a God by most, but being all too aware that He's not omnipotent, and will at some point have to let Humanity down. As for Bat-man not killing the Joker for his brutal murder of Robin. It is implied that the Joker's Gold teeth are, as seen in 'The Suicide Squad' a consequence of Bat-man pummeling him nearly to death for just that! But stopping short, as He realizes that is exactly what the Joker wants!.. To corrupt Bat-man, and remake him in his image.

So you're the one hardcore comic book fan who liked this interpretation of Batman! You should check out the Theatrical Cut is see how muddled it was, crazy what the extra 30 minutes adds. Ah yeah, I did not remember that from Suicide Squad... good catch. Think I only saw that at the cinema and for the most part I remember not liking it all that much.

@@thebritishmovieguy Yeah, I grew up reading the comics, both Marvel and D.C. But even as a kid, as young as I was, I remember always feeling D.C. had a slight edge over Marvel. But in regards to BvS, I actually own both the Theatrical and Extended cut's, I've just never been able to bring myself to watch the aforementioned. But yeah, maybe I should! It's the same for 'The Suicide Squad', I own both cuts. But again, I've only ever watched the extended version. And based on what I know of the Theatrical cut, the extended is far superior, and and a more than okay film, in my opinion. Well worth a watch if you've not seen it. And then, there's 'The Ayer Cut'... But's that's an all together, different discussion.

Last hour of this movie is so absolutely badass; BvS fight, the warehouse fight, and the Doomsday fight which is so unbelievably underrated. Even though we likely will never see a proper JL 2/3, im extremely grateful that this trilogy was made to begin with. I mean, despite the thrashing of it back in 2016 - it really says something that these movies are still discussed to this day.

The Ultimate Cut is a huge improvement over the Theatrical Cut. When I watched the latter back when it came out in 2016, I felt there was no connective tissue between most of the major plot points. Also the characters' motivations were not as well fleshed out. I can safely say the Ultimate Cut is a Masterpiece. The religious subtext, iconic imagery, meaningful wordplay and intended profoundness of the core ideas conveyed in this movie make it one of the most relevant comic book movies ever made. It essentially examines and tests the ethos of the two most relevant super-heroes in modern culture. The fact that we are still talking about it almost seven years later is a testament to its impact.

I love this movie for the idea that it takes Superman's old fashioned selflessness to redeem Batman's ice cold heart. Batman didn't even know he needed saving and would rather have killed Superman because he thought he was a threat to humanity but Superman showed the Dark Knight a new kind of heroism that he didn't believe existed anymore. As Batman says "How many good guys are left? How many stayed that way?" Superman stayed that way even to his death. Batman FINALLY had something to believe in again and with Superman's death, Batman was now filled with a new purpose. This is the Batman and Superman story we needed and deserved. I don't even care what WB does with these characters anymore because I now have the comic book movie I have always wanted!

I might be in the minority here, but the twitchy, deranged Lex that Jesse Eisenberg portrayed was one of my favourite aspects of the movie. no longer the sly, evil businessman of old, but a modern day Silicon Valley villain, Zuckerberg amped up to eleven. a crazy person with too much power and money, someone who hates Superman for what he is and what he represents: a benevolent god-like being that shows us that, in this borderline dystopian 21st century, there's still a place for hope.

BvS is indeed a masterpiece. It challenges every aspect of Superman and Batman that we as an audience have taken for granted for decades. Why would any government, let alone the US Government trust and allow Superman free reign when he's so powerful? What happens when Superman goes overseas to help? Does he represent America or himself? How does Clark reconcile the fact that he just wants to help, but people see him as a god or a monster? Batman has been at this for 20 years but no progress in stopping crime, how does that affect him? People have always said that the presence of Robin is an irresponsible action on Bruce's part so what happens when Robin dies? It's an amazing fusion of superheroes, political thriller, sci-fi, and philosophy. And it annoys me to no end when people claim that Zack Snyder "Doesn't understand" Superman or Batman. He understands them perfectly. He also understands that if these two heroes were to exist in real life, they would not function as did the comic books. At least not initially. But that's the thing. As you said the purpose of the movie is seeing how Superman and Batman navigate the darkness within themselves and the world to arrive at the classic versions people know. It's not an instant process becoming the classical Superman, it would take a lot of mistakes, heartache, and sacrifice to get there. Which is exactly what the movie shows. Long story short, it's great and deserved a proper showing with the 30 minutes restored in theaters

Just watched this again yesterday but i watched the Ultimate Edition this time,i gotta say the Theatrical Cut is a little bit rushed and lack some character development but the full edition is straight up masterpiece, every scene play out so well that i felt like i was watching a whole new movie just like the differences between Josstice League and Zack Snyder's Justice League. I love Snyder's vision about his DC Universe being so realistic that heroes are not always appreciated and no matter how much good they have done to mankind, there will still be people that see them as a threat,a villain and maybe even tried to give them a bad reputation or much worse, killed them....The movie portrayed Superman and Lex Luthor perfectly in a very twisted and dark way that makes me feel bad for Supes and feel the intimidation of Luthor at a same time.I felt bad for Batman too,Affleck's version of Bruce Wayne is so dark and grim because he live in a world that is so messed up and he lost so many people that he no longer trust anything or anyone (except Alfred) and that lead him to almost murder the only hope the world ever have left (Yup,imagine the Doomsday fight without Supes lol). I heard some people said that they hate Cavill's Clark Kent but i think he did a great job regardless, his acting and emotions he show on his face is very on point, that scene in BvS where he flew to Lois's hotel room and said the line "This symbol means Hope on my world, but my world no longer exist" with the sad look on his face hit me right in the feels, and the scene in MOS of him talking to Jor-El and his first flight is so powerful that i jumped out of my chair out of excitement and hype, I felt in love with DCEU ever since. In my opinion, one of the great ironies of this film is that it is both masterful in some respects and completely flawed in others. The Martha seen specifically is interesting, because you do make a good point that what stops Batman is the realization that he is becoming the very thing that he has been fighting against, and his mother's name is just the trigger for that realization. The problem I have with that scene is not so much that a name caused Bruce to stop, rather it's the fact that he and Superman seem to be just fine with each other from that point on. Bruce spends the first two acts of the movie devoting almost his entire energy to beating Superman because he believes it is absolutely necessary for the safety of the human race. In Bruce's mind, Superman cannot be trusted: he's too powerful to be trusted. Even if he could be persuaded that Superman didn't need to die, it would take a long time for him to feel comfortable with Superman being around. This movie has him make a dramatic switch in his character, very quickly, with little to no explanation.

John, you make some excellent points. I must admit that Bruce's 180 on Superman is far too quick. They can fight Doomsday together, but Bruce may still not trust Superman by the end, allowing the next film to focus on their friendship as they grow closer. I'm glad you enjoyed my Martha point; I know it's a dividing scene, but those were my thoughts while watching. Others have defended it, but in a different context. In this film, I suppose a lot is up to the viewer. Thanks for watching!

It’s because Bruce’s pain, his identity as Batman stems from the pain of losing his parents. So when he hears the name of his mother, it’s a trigger. It really touched on something. Bruce was able to see that Superman/Clark is a person too, it humanized Clark. Maybe part of Bruce wanted to save Superman from that same pain of loss that he suffered.

There is an explanation as to why he made a complete 180 if you really think about it from Bruce's perspective. He has been obsessing with this alien for about 2 years. And when he hears his mother's name, he's snapped out of it due to seeing the kinda person he has become. But that's you looking at things on how batman sees himself. But how does he see Superman now? If you paid attention, the Martha name isn't what snapped him out. It wasn't until realising it was Superman's mother's name that snapped him out. The alien guy he has been obsessing about has a human mother who will get killed if he doesn't help. Bruce sees Superman as the kid he was when his parents were shot. And he(Bruce) is about to kill a person and let his mother die in the process. He's about to let someone go through the exact thing he went through as a kid. The reason he became batman in the 1st place is preventing something like this and now he's the one causing it? Bruce not trusting Superman in the 1st place has to do with the fact that he didn't know who he was. He didn't know he's just a regular guy with a mother, a job, a gf. He didn't see Superman's human side until he realised him fighting to tell him to save another human which happens to be his mom. And as you see, the guilt and the fact that he wants to redeem himself for almost making the mistake of killing an innocent man, he insists on saving Martha.

@@thebritishmovieguy My understanding of the Martha moment is a bit different from others It’s Lois lane whose the key in everything in that moment and this is mirrored in snydercut when reborn Superman was about to kill Batman. While Superman uttering Martha brought a tunnel visioned vengeful batman to a stop, Lois did not mention Superman and instead says “Clark , No stop” I think this is the moment Batman got to know that there’s Clark Kent a human behind the alien Superman he thought of who has a mother as well as a woman Lois lane who loves him . This is what humanized Superman to him and made him realize that he had become “Joe Chill “ the one thing he swore to destroy and not to be. An argument could be made that the world’s greatest detective didn’t know about Superman’s identity as Clark Kent but for the entirety of the movie Bruce Wayne was fixated on Superman as an alien like Captain Ahab seeking revenge on the whale. His revenge clouded his senses of logic and judgement too. For if he knew he had met Superman at the party Lex had, he would have easily figured out all about Lois, Martha Kent and everything.

While I don’t hate this movie anymore, I still ain’t gonna pretend that Batman killing isn’t just bad characterisation as an adaptation but unlike Burton’s own adaptation of Batman who also kills, Snyder has this overarching theme which undoubtedly is a great concept and I think how he handles superman with this theme is excellent, Batman however completely breaks that story component for me because while the script does a great job at showing how dark Batman has gone, the branding was crossing a line but it was totally in character for a darker Bruce who’s lost his way and on the verge of madness- then he starts gunning down criminals left and right in his tank, leaving me with so many questions about what snyder was trying to say about Batman or if he had all the right material but didn’t have enough time to give it a final redraft to edit out the killing. Burton’s Batman just unapologetically killed and there was never a moral debate about it within the film’s universe at the time, so I let it slide. BvS does ask these moral questions, so why would Snyder make Batman kill other than to show how dark he’s gone, I’m not against Batman learning a lesson I just think this movie and it’s themes work better if Batman was teetering on that edge and superman would had been his first kill if the Martha moment doesn’t happen. It’d make for a more entertaining viewing experience as a whole. Apart from that, I do appreciate a lot of what BvS does a lot more now than I did say back when and come to grow fond of Snyder’s mad man philosophy+every frame a painting directorial style, even if it isn’t always for me

Kevin, you have a very good nuanced point of view. I admit that I'm fine with Batman killing in the right context, but even I raise an eyebrow when he guns/runs down the villains in his Batmoblie around the docks. It did seem a little out of place in the context. But, yeah, I'm a sucker for Snyder's philosophy in all of his films, and yes, every frame in a glorious painting.

I watched BVS in theaters and really liked it and waited for the extended edition and loved it cus this is what I enjoyed of the diallema to their ideals , as for captain america civil war it didn't impact me like bvs more realistic moments, my issues with Civil War is that yes the movie is a bit serious but its idea of both iron man and captain America can be easily fixed as for the story its ok but not good because the heroes literally act like children (especially when MCU spider man appears) the thing about that I really enjoy of BVS ultimate edition is how the story can be complex but also give u the question to how we as a culture can be better and how even if one person is powerful should they be equal to us, that is why I enjoy bvs especially the acting and the dystopian setting it fills in this world

You are correct. I think one of the biggest issues with BvS is the "realism" people want a happy go lucky Superman, but Snyder took it from a completely different perspective and grounded it as much as he could. I guess people don't like how these Superheroes would actually behave in our reality. 100% on Civil War with Cap and IronMan. I still enjoy that film. Winter Solider is probably my favourite. The Ultimate Edition offers actual context as to why Lois Lane is in the desert, and who Jimmy Olsen is, along with fleshing out the killings. The bodies are burned so they resemble victims of Superman's heat vision. Lex Luthor's means of framing Clark in the UE makes far more sense than the theatrical cut. Also, Clark actually does some journalism into Batman that gives better context as to why Superman doesn't trust Batman.

Had the ultimate edition been released in theaters, the box office and word of mouth would have rivaled or surpassed any Marvel movie. The extended cut is a thousand times better for sure, I would say a very good movie - still probably falls short of a masterpiece for me, though. The terrible misuse of Doomsday and rushing of Superman's death meant it finished on a low whether you're a comic book purist or not. I'm not sure anything that fizzles out like that should be labelled a masterpiece. Sure, you can rework characters and their origins to fit your narrative. Creative decisions are fine, and Synder nailed it with the ending change to Watchmen for example, but this was a fumble of pacing. That squeezed in ending to bring about Supes death should have been a movie all of its own as a prelude to Justice League. The other villain, Eisenberg as Luthor, also fails to deliver on pretty much every aspect of the character. He's just...annoying. Very easily argued as the worst ever portrayal of the character and he is vital to plot and the way it ends. The rest of your video I largely agree with but those two marks against are big enough to rate this one as a close but no cigar when it comes to being a "masterpiece".
@thebritishmovieguy

They definitely rushed Doomsday and Superman's death. I can only assume that the studio was so eager to get a Justice League movie out that Snyder thought this would be his only chance to tell these two stories that he clearly loved. I like Eisenberg as Lex, and I don't necessarily disagree with his plan, but I agree that the way he was portrayed was a swing and a miss.

While I liked many areas of the Batman VS. Superman movie, FINALLY a Greatest Fight Scenes with Batman saving Martha from Lexcorp Cronies.. After all YOU dont steal from the Greatest Villain.. Unless your Batman.. A DEAD GENERAL ZOD becoming Doomsday is just idioc that really disappointed millions of Fans..SUPERMAN would have Never Left ZOD in the Hands Of Scientists (especially Humans) ..Much Less all that 1000s of years of Advanced Technology.. THAT WAS SO LAME..Just thrown together.. Henry Cavill should have been put in a Man Of Steel, 2nd movie where Doomsday could have been introduced, THE NEARLY UNKILLABLE Alien. The killing of Superman was RUSHED to end the Movie in Batman VS Superman.. Zach Snyder could have really worked much better with the last part of the movie being About a Real Blonde, blue eyed Kara crashing into Gotham Bay. THE Merchandising industry would have busted out at the seams with Girl stuff.. BATMAN not using the Spear of Kryptonite, later uses it to weaken Kara. Remember the Animated film. THE SHIP should have already been stashed possibly at Fortress of Solitude by Superman in the Original Man Of Steel at the ending of Man Of Steel. The Ship being too advanced for Humans to mess around with. This could have brought about Darkseid, Tricking Kara, then kidnaps her while on Themyscira while training with Wonder Woman how to use her powers.. Zack Snyder could have done so much with better Storytelling given a better script to work with. THEN A JUSTICE LEAGUE, Movie with Lex Luthor, Superman Supergirl, Wonder Woman, Batman, Flash and many others. JUST throwing some things out there..

Jim, you make some excellent suggestions. The Doomsday and Death of Superman stories should definitely been given more time to develop; there was no reason to cram Doomsday into the final act when the film should have been focused on Batman and Superman. I can only assume that the studio wanted to rush out a Justice League film, so Snyder probably knew his time was limited and that he loved these two stories so much that he felt this was his only chance to tell them.

Leave it to Hollywood to Go Overboard and Change your Love for the Characters completely. Update the time line that's fine. They really messed up Shazam. Shazam is Handsome and serious with powers that can dent even Superman..LOOK, I get the whole WE (Hollywood) want to be Versatile and give Other, people of color and such a chance to represent. HOWEVER if you look at the real Statistics and Surveys, Mexican, Hispanic, black, Jamaican, Japanese, Asian Americans, and many more just do not buy comics hardly at all. It's just not their thing OR the family's just don't have the funds to do those things.. Look, I'm not picking on other Races of people, I'm being honest and realistic. I served in the Marines for 30 years. I have been to those countries that are horrific to their people. Even when they come to America to live ALL THEY do is focus on their work and their families.. You can't OR SHOULDN'T change Legends for 80 plus years and OH WE WILL make Supergirl Latino. THINGS like that even the Latino community are SAYING, WHAT, My daughter likes the Blonde, Smart Cousin of Superman. She's a Blue eyed Blonde Haired Supergirl, says Mom and Dad. IT DOESN'T Fit. When the Orignal Characters ARE Changed to fit a Different Culture it falls down. NOW if they spent some time and Found Let's SAY an Artist who brought out an Original version of a New Character and they were Hispanic, Black ,Green, Asian that would be New and understood. AGAIN though the Characters would take years to get a Reputation OFF THE Ground. Warner Bros., is trying to cheat and change 80 plus years it took to get to the point they are at now. I have served with every color of my Comrades, and you will always learn a lot ALL WE ALL have to do is listen.. Even the Television Supergirl started getting Stupid and the ratings plummeted. Black Lightning did the same thing.. Not the Actresses, Actors fault. I BELIEVE that many Writers are not interested OR talented enough to keep a good Script for anything they write, because they never really had to struggle like the Original Writers did. You’ve basically just said exactly what Iv tried to say and failed at, as there’s so many problems, it’s Dark Knight Returns Part 2 mixed with Superman Doomsday, Death Of Superman, Justice League & other stuff from great comic stories rushed together thinking any movie that has Superman & Batman in would be great no matter how pathetic story is, I defended Man Of Steel even though I left cinema on edge of tears of just sorrow, waiting 30 years expecting an epic origin, seeing him grow up in Smallville (I was kinda hoping, wishful thinking, that Man Of Steel would be similar to Smallville because Smallville just got Superman so spot on and somehow they did it very modern whilst keeping classic comic book Superman, the only ones up to now that have got Superman Spot on brilliantly is The DC Original Animated Universe Movies Like Superman Unbound, Superman Doomsday, The Death Of Superman, Reign Of The Supermen, Superman Red Son, Superman Man Of Tomorrow, All Star Superman along with Superman vs The Elite are my favourite and Supergirl both in Superman/Batman Apocalypse & Superman Unbound, Superman/Batman Public Enemies, Justice League New Frontier, Superman/Shazam, besides the animated movies only the first 3 Chris Reeve Superman movies & Smallville have got him right) Superman is not hard to do, if you treat him as a farmboy from Kansas, with abilities, my dream Superman movie would be a powered down 1940’s Superman, keeping X Ray Vision, Freeze Breath & Flight but seeing him struggle with a train if you watch Fleischer animated series just looks so amazing, introduces conflict, makes it look realistic, and again bloody looks good, a 1940’s version but in modern day with Smallville style full on gorgeous Colourful American flags in metropolis, this movie Batman v Superman I wanted Cavill Replaced immediately but Snyder Fanboys kept Zack going, not actual DC fans & General Audience as we both hated it, as a die hard Superman fan & DC Fan, it broke me this movie, they completely deconstructed an iconic hero & role model to some as Iv been a fan since 1978 when my mother actually used Superman The Movie as a babysitter whilst she would do housework, if animated films get him right if bloody Smallville can make him extremely modern and epic, why couldn’t Zack, if your doing a second Superman movie, let alone a Superman & Batman movie that is the time you hire the greatest writers, screenplay & story writers out there to write it, you’d still have Zacks poor choice of a Superman with Cavill & terrible Batman with Affleck though, he’d still be directing it with zero chemistry, zero dialogue, a moment followed by another moment, another moment instead of connecting scenes using dialogue & actual storytelling, it is the worst Superman, Batman movie, worst comic book movie out there (your idea with Kara Landing was what I was hoping for in second movie, not bloody Doomsday, not using Zods body, I’m sick of Kryptonian villains in Superman when he has so many other iconic villains, Parasite, Metalo, Lobo, The Enforcer, Toyman, LiveWire, Intergang, Bruce Manheim, The Elite, also Doomsday ain’t Kryptonian, you never use him until you know Audience genuinely loves your Superman it’s what Chris Reeves Superman 4 should have been, you don’t use Doomsday in second movie, wtf was Zack on, I love how you always get the famous lines in documentaries on the Blu Rays that “Oh he’s such a huge, massive fan of so and so” a fan, a true fan would never have used Doomsday if it had to be Batman, why not “Worlds Finest” from epic 90’s Superman animated series. This will never ever be a masterpiece, not just story but all Snyders movies used the Transformers movies guys for Special effects, CGI & I freaken hated CGI in Transformers I remember worrying about that before seeing Man Of Steel, all Zacks movies look like video games, it’s full on CGI, Sky, CGI, background environments, CGI, buildings, CGI, and why is Superman action scenes done at night in Zacks movies, Batman is night, Superman is usually bright, full of colour as Metropolis is a futuristic city, it’s why it’s called “City Of Tomorrow” you got some scenes of Clark Kent, Cavills Daily Reporter Clark Kent, he barely says a word, there’s just no chemistry between any of the actors and I bloody knew that was not acting by Jesse Eissenberg, I knew that is just his natural personality to be hype as he’s like that in all his movies, Lex Luthor is a calm, evil but a charming, charismatic evil genius, he can fool you into thinking he truly cares about Metropolis,I’m sick of seeing Lex in Superman & Zod, Superman has one of the greatest villain galleries, now Superman is under DC Studios, Warner Brothers no longer exists it’s owned by Discovery because of Zack, but it means they can’t have no involvement with story, with scenes, with the movies full stop and with Gunn writing Superman, probably the greatest directors, producers, storyteller of this generation even my lifetime I’m confident eventually Superman will be played by someone with tons of confidence, who is bright, hopeful, caring, inspirational, steals the scene, as Superman when he’s done right just steals the scene, he commands the scene, he has an authoritative voice, watch him in the international world court scene in Superman vs The Elite, with the iconic speech that he’s no one’s judge, jury or executioner, Cavill didn’t have any of those traits then to add even more insult, he gave him a Batman suit with Snyders initial as The House Of El Crest when it would have looked so amazing, in a really bright, striking blue, bright yellow, the red was good but that was only thing but not on the crest, it should have been the same size crest but with New 52 or Rebirth Comic Book Crest. Little details add up & make all the difference, that Man Of Steel Trailer 2 really fooled me into believing this is it, the greatest Superman movie and turns out to be destruction after destruction with worst Lois Lane along with Kate Bosworth, terrible performance by Dianne Lane as Martha, Russel Crow so so so disappointed me, then didn’t even look like a hologram, Gunn is a geek like us, he adores & loves Superman and besides him not giving Superman a Smallville Origin (showing parents teach him how to control abilities and gives you the heart, emotion of Superman) finally I’m confident we’ll get greatest Superman movie in history under James Gunn, that dude can write. One last thing which should have been obvious as somebody said to me at the time “is that a bad omen maybe” was his pathetic Sucker Punch movie, that should have warned us, Zack nearly single handedly destroyed the most famous, greatest, largest Franchise in history (I don’t have clue why big actor & producer such as Affleck didn’t stop, say no, let’s do Worlds Finest, this is terrible) so Ben Affleck needs to take some blame as well. After new Gunn Superman movie, hopefully, these movies will be completely forgotten collecting dust on a shelf.

@@jimbridges4141 Freaken spot on, how do you just know exactly what fans like me want, also if they want to do a Hispanic Character you have Blue Beetle who I love. Earth 23 Superman is African American, they could do him in the future after an epic original take on the main Superman, you just get what DC Fans like me want, we don’t want our iconic, heroes, role models deconstructed, changed, it’s because of fans like us these characters are still around, are still huge, mean so much and are getting not just massive blockbuster movies but entire franchises, because we like, adore, love the character the way they have been for over 85 years. I think it’s because you were a Marine, you know what a hero should be, consistent and these characters are you, just with extraordinary abilities. I’m British and my actual dream Superman would be to give us the 1940’s version of him, powered down, keep the X Ray Vision, Freeze Breath & Flight but the Fleischer Cartoons where you see Superman really struggling with a train not only brings a ton more conflict into it but it looks bloody amazing, it be a dream to have a powered down 1940’s Superman with Silver Age Science Fiction Comic Book Stories, Justice League A New Frontier did it perfect. I just want to see an epic inspiring, 40’s version Superman set in modern day battling one of his big main villains like the Enforcer, Metalo, Parasite, Lobo, The Elite, Intergang, Toyman, or if they won’t power him down bring in one of the Magic villains like Felix Faust. My dream would also be to have The All Star Clark Kent who is clumsy not just for sake of it but only when he needs to push someone out of the way of a speeding car as Clark, Zack even deconstructed Lex Luthor from a calm, charismatic, charming, handsome, evil genius who works out all the time, to a fidgety, nervous, geeky, hyperactive, 5ft small something. then gave us Ben Affleck in a Bat-suit and expected us to believe he was Bruce Wayne/Batman, Iv grown up with Affleck in Good Will Hunting, Armageddon, Pearl Harbour, so I didn’t see Bruce Wayne, I saw Ben Affleck. I have to give this to Nolan, he needed a dude who looked & acted like a playboy millionaire, in American Violence he was just that but he also needed an unknown with extraordinary talent, willing to do anything to get into the character and in the Machinist (Fkn brilliant film) he was willing to go down to 4-5 stone weight eating a can of Tuna every day to get the part and pull it off, you need extraordinary unknowns with extreme confidence and even more extreme talent to do these Characters. Cavill was unknown but just didn’t possess the extraordinary talent. Famous saying in Superman vs The Elite, “If it ain’t broke, Don’t Fix It”. Yet they are determined to try & change Superman, he’s perfect the way he was originally created.

@@christianlennon714 Ever since my Grandfather helped me get into Comics, because I liked the Old Superman George Reeves Superman. Yeah by todays standards (whatever) it was what I watched after chores some days on My Grandparents horses and Cattle Ranch in N. Carolina. I grew up drawing The Artwork from 4th grade up won many contests in Jr. High, Even my Art Teacher entered my drawing only telling my Grandparents at first. Damn I won, And a 100. Dollars with the art in the School Case and the Cover of our School Annual. That set in motion to stay as Original as possible in Freelance artistry. The South Cleveland Tigers. Artists for Batman and Superman with Wonder Woman in the 1970s and 80s into the early 90s. YEAH I'm guilty of defending Snyder, only because we talked here and there quietly. He just tried to clean up a mess with JUSTICE LEAGUE. Warner for some time now has just kept stepping on the Fans of these Characters.. Your Comments are well received. The Zod turned into Doomsday was Absolute Junk. NO TALENT can fix that Lame Idea.. If they had just took the time, and got a good Lois Lane, and Brought in a Natural Blonde, Blue eyed Supergirl, that would have lessened the pain Many have been Experiencing for decades. James Gunn better not screw this up. Yes he can tell and write so far. HOWEVER if he doesn't have control over things it will ruin the relationship with the Fans. We'll see in time, this New Latino or whatever Supergirl they are working on, may not do so well. As I said in my Earlier posting.. When you Change the Characters completely FROM what the Fans Like Then it just becomes A bunch of junk, to make quick money.TAKE A good look at 1978 Christopher Reeves, A Great Actor with Heart, great Cast all around. Smallville Nailed it Solidly. Great Cast with Great writing, The first few Years of Smallville were so good that I bought all kinds of Recording till I could get my Copy of each Season.. Frigging Lex was off the heels bad ass. They could have Easily Run that Show another 2 more Seasons.. We Out Here in U-Tube Land, ARE IN Discomfort and Disbelief from DCs Being botched by Warner Brothers.. It looks like It Will be Years Now before THE FANS get Anything of Quality. If They Fail this time it may be another 5 years.. Todays World will not forgive much less forget.. BTW, they NEED TO PUT THE DAMN (S) back on the Cape of Superman and shorten the Cape up, good grief, WE FANS HATE THAT CRAP..Thanks for your comments.

The ultimate edition is surely better, cause everything u just told in the video, but this doesn't mean the theatrical version was bad... I will never surrender with my positions, i definitely prefer a movie that try to give a different point of view than a safe and boring movie that works on presetted concept...

Masterpiece👍....and ive read dc comics my whole life, i have storage unit full, and THIS is the batman n sups i waited my whole life for, and all us snyder fans that love this movie, are all comic book psychos lol, the people that dont like it and claim to be comic heads, are either fugazi, or so old there referring to the comics in 50’s lol, cause watching MoS, BvS:UE, and ZSJL...if your someone who really knows the comics from THIS day n age, like 80’s to current, snyders films are literally a love letter to dc, you can tell watching them, that snyder himself loves the comics and knows them intricately just like us fans, in bvs alone he took like 6 of the greatest stories in dc comic history, and merged them into this new “earth” if u will. Its incredible from perspective of a REAL dc “comic” fan. And i think snyders overall story, rivals some of the greatest runs in dc comic history, and i think he stands toe to toe with all the great comic writers to these characters as well, and i had no problem with the killing, all the live action bats killed, difference is the others just acted like it was fine n didnt happen, where as zack used it as a story device, and purposely showed that IT WAS WRONG and out of character for batman to be this way, it was a rare, brief point where we enter into batmans life in story, zack was showing he had lost his way from robins death, and was almost becoming villain he had lost it so much, but it was only going to be that one movie, its obvious by end of bvs and into ZSJL, that superman changed him n made him realize he lost himself, n then his death inspired him to come completely back to regular batman, n gives him the hope he carries over into ZSJL, zack never intended an “mcu”, this was a 5 film arc story he was doing, like nolans batman trilogy, but was suppose to be 5 movies n have whole JL, but center around superman, and we only have 3 of rhe 5😢, and all the characters were evolving to a glorious ending in JL3, and we were cut off in beginning of half of them being developed, and now world perpetually sees the movies wrong, cause theyve only seen first half of story, its frustrating lol, BVS:UE is my fav movie of all time PERIOD, and if WB wasnt greedy n wud have just let UE be the theatrical like zack intended, the movie shud have won oscars, like its literally my fav “MOVIE”, like ZSJL is my favorite “CBM”, but bvs:ue is my fave movie period of any genre

BvS:UE to me is genius n one of greatest “superman vs lex” stories EVER....i mean lex even uses BATMAN as his pawn, well he uses everyone as his pawn in movie lol, but fact we get intoduced to batman, as a pawn being used by lex luthor, because luthor is smart enuff to know hes compromised n will fall for it, just completely blew my mind, so many people are so busy bitching about eisenbergs voice or hair, that the completely genius puppet master he plays whole movie goes right over there heads lol

Gutted over how Cavill has been treated especially when DC/WB and nepotistic Gunn support a vile man Ezra miller who has attacked multiple women, won’t give DC another penny until he’s been fired. @@mcribprime6594 Love that superman awakens, short! But you're correct. To be honest, I don't see Snyderverse moving to Netflix or Amazon. We might get an Elseworlds conclusion in the future, but an animation would be the best option for WB. At this point, the entire Cavill saga is absurd. As you point out, they appear to have left the door open for everyone to return except Cavill, which is just ludicrous at this point with everything you just mentioned above with Ezra.

In some ways yes, in others it might’ve been the original screw job on Man of Steel. Batman basically hijacked the movie without giving Superman a full re-imagining. Now here we are with the new DCU, and already Batman is a topic even though he’s already rebooted. I feel like they didn’t have faith in Superman so they threw Batman in it. Again great movie, but it killed Henry Cavil’s Superman long before James Gunn…and not because they literally killed him…

Being in the desert scenes should of have never been in the movie.zack should of went a different route with this movie. Snyder reportedly had a five-film plan, so we can only assume the nightmare desert scenes would reappear. Warner Bros. definitely got cold feet after the not so great box office returns of BvS so they basically sabotaged that plan. But you do make a good observation.

I remember the hype everyone had when it was coming out. I think it was one of the most hyped mysterious superhero films. When it came out, I was so excited, three comic book loving, DC loving, friends and I went to see it. Theater was packed. Bought the popcorn and drink combo with the special edition vase. Was bored halfway through the film. When the Martha Scene happened, my friend and I looked at each other going like 'really?'. No one in the theater cried or cared for Superman's death. Few cheers for Wonder Woman, I remember everyone was so confused when flash appeared. I felt akward with that scene. Especially Since Bruce NEVER mentions it again in the film. Movie finished and we all said it sucked. Worse part of it was When the Snyderfnas, not DC Fans, blamed the general moviegoing audience for its failure, saying 'we just didn't get it', 'we weren't smart enough, it was PHILOSOPHICAL'. When really, they know nothing of philosophical films and the most "philosophical" film they've seen is probably Interstellar lol. Ultimate Edition did fix stuff that was wrong with the movie, but ultimately it just didn't entertain enough, and wasn't as smart as it wanted/pretended to be. Zack Snyder is a great visual director, but an idiot when it comes to storytelling. Superman Legacy can't wait!!
