For me Bayonetta would be a clear winner if it didn't have those annoying and intrusive minigames.

Bayonetta is a better game overall but DMC4 has a better combat system. Prior to DMC5 it had the best combat in any single player action game, period.

I played both of them and as much I would like to choose Bayonetta, DMC 4 is more technical, stylish, and narrative. I played DMC 4 144 hours in total and I even completed the trophies w/in a couple of years. Bayonetta is enjoyable too but I can't finish the game on a harder difficulty making it more difficult to play than DMC 4.

Would be a much easier decision if DMC4 at least gave Dante a unique route, complete with his own boss encounter as opposed to playing the game backwards. I could probably live with Nero's simplicity and Dante being a mixed bag. As it is, I can't pick which is better especially as a casual in this genre.

I wish dmc played more like bayonetta and the art style was more bayonetta I liked dmc 5 a lot but I just miss the anime art style a lot

At least Bayonetta is a complete game. Bayonetta is a new IP with a deep combat system, mostly well enemy and stage design, and a serviceable story. DMC4 had all the same things but a worse enemy design and an incomplete story. So yeah, Bayonetta takes the W

Thats a close one. I think bayo 1 is better than dmc4 tho. Complete package and it was the first game of the serirs and nailed the foundation of gameplay straigh off the bat. Love dmc4 but it was built in a time where it was tryna do something new and also had to reuse too many assets.
