I’m 62. Have owned too many vehicles to count. My 2007 fj with 170,000 miles is by far best I have ever owned. A little sunburn on the hood. Other than that it’s perfect. Trying to ind a great body shop to repaint it. Best truck ever by far.

I used to get cars often earlier in life (in my 20's and early 30's). Some had issues in the first three years of brand new ownership. But I got my 2012 FJ back in 2014 (I was second owner, bought with 27k miles on it, for 10k less than a new 2014 one on the same lot. Has just 86k now). Had it about 10 years now, and not a single issue. Best vehicle I've owned. I also have a 2008 Honda Civic with 165k, which has needed some minor fixes (ac compressor & tie rods or something). But overall, no real problems. I plan to keep both of these as long as no engine or transmission problems.

Hey I used to work at that Toyota dealership 😂 and I had an FJ Cruiser then, and still do now! My manager also owned my same year and model of FJ and we used to love getting photos of them together, as well as another guy at the dealership with a red 2012 Trail Teams Special Edition FJ. Good times 😁

I scored a 2012 “FJB Edition” in November ‘22 with 169,000 on it. It now has 186,000 on it and is my daily driver of 50 or so round trip. I average 19-20 mpg. I absolutely love it!

I’ve been interested in buying an FJ as a daily driver. I take it you’d recommend it based off your comment? Any issues or major cons that I wouldn’t hear about from all my KZbin research?
@innertube205

@@about2rocku I did my research on it. They all say the same thing. The Wizard and Scotty Kilmer recommended it. No visibility. Terrible fuel mileage. Suicide doors. It has plenty of visibility. If you know how to place spot mirrors on the door mirrors. I avg 19-20 mpg. I also “hyper-mile” it when I can. I wanted a 2012 or newer because of the backup camera. You will love it!!!

Just lost my 2007 FJ when a distracted 17 yo ran into the passenger side rear at full speed. Her car totaled and towed away, the FJ drove away. Frame and hatch door bent and totaled. Have the same fj. Year, color and options. 330,000 miles. It drives awesome and have done no major repairs. Rock solid design. I drive offroad alot. Most would consider it extreme offroad. I have a spacer lift and tall skinny tires, 35 10.50 17. Still have original suspension minus shocks and upper ball joints which have been replaced many times. Lots of brakes and oil changes. 2 battery's and a couple mufflers and a couple alternators. Tons of scratches and dents and fairly major frame rust.

I just bought a 2007 fj 2wd locking rear diff, 170k miles in colorado for $7500. It was cheap because 2wd rear drive is not popular in colorado. I have other 4wd cars that don't need another. I thought wanted toyota sienna mini van or a rav4 2wd , or mazda cx5 2wd. But those are all expensive. I put smaller 245/60r17 michelin highway tires and lowered it 2 inches and am getting 25 mpg higway , the same as a mini van, the rav4 gets 30mpg so not greater fuel savings, but the rav4 cant tow 5000lbs or go 400k miles on original engine. This 4.0l engine is far superior to the 3.6l, 2.4l , 2.5l toyota engines.

It beeps when you put it in reverse because you have the rear parking sensor.
@Thankyou_3
@Thankyou_3 4 ай бұрын
By turning off the parking sensors that noise will go away. Also, please don’t rev the engine when it is cold or even when it is warmed up. You are doing more harm than good especially on the emission components. 4Runner used the same engine from 2003 however starting from 2014, the 4Runner uses an improved version of the 4.0 litre engine. I believe the differences are dual VVTi instead of just single VVTi.

Its worth it if you go for 150k miles or less. As most of the major service intervals take place after that milestone so theres no chance they're been ignored and are generally free of any wear related maintenance. Plus, keeping up with normal maintenance on an fj at 150k, you can easily triple that mileage. Additionally, because of the cult following these things have in the off-road community, there is no shortage of replacement and aftermarket parts available even after long being discounted in all but a select few cases. The 2jrfe engine bolted on the fjis also as bulletproof as a 4.0l v6 can get, it will gladly take any and all abuse you can dish out. The drivetrain is overspec for its class and can deal with the stress of pulling the weight of a loaded overlander kit, a boat, and your mom. The fj, is irrevocably the only Toyota that should have seen more than one model year. I would have killed to see what they do with now a decade later.

I love these. Already a huge toyota fan. And the market for these things are insane. Those 2 on the lot wont be there long. Regardless of mileage. I see these on bringatrailer going for 60 to 90k all the time. Those are special editions or trail teams model's of course with low miles. But that is the market for these. Toyota fucked themselves by cutting production on these in the NA market. Still produced in europe and they sell like hotcakes over there too..
