This!!!!! Even if there arent enough schools of catch around, if you blend your wrestling with good subs and escapes it really is the ultimate grappling art.

the downfall is there's nowhere to learn it

Trying to learn Catch Wrestling is like trying to learn Gracie Jiu-Jitsu in 1972.

Because of that I wrestle twice a week, do BJJ 2-3 times a week, and do sambo twice a week.

@@user-kj5ql1cq7v I don't know about american folkstyle being practiced for 300 years I would think right when it was added to schools the submissions were taken away but I think the guy was talking about American folkstyle
@sinjinsmythe1571 Жыл бұрын
Yeah dont show off that you got rid of half your offence and stopped teaching the whole style. Even judo is mostly ippon, they still taught armlocks and footlocks. Folkstyle chose to wipe out the full curriculum.

Rather freestyle. When politicians and whatnot came down on the brutality of catch and banned submissions, it turned into freestyle. Catch was supposed to be in the 1904 Olympics before that happened.

I beg to differ because Alex pereira has 0 wrestling and poor jiu jitsu but has been exposing mma fighters Poot striking skills .. when compared to boxers, K-1 kickboxers, and Thai fighters .. man the striking technique is so poor ..
@amosdraak35364 ай бұрын
I feel like both train relatively easily, just that some people are either lazy or it doesn’t click with their brains. Wrestling can be broken down into simple fundamentals, and striking basically the same. Then just muscle memory and learning some tricks.

He hasn't really faced good wrestlers yet. Jan is his best and he made it hard before losing... so tbf maybe he's on his way to greatness.

You do realize Alex has been training Jiujitsu for a decade. His ground game is just trash compared to UFC fighters. The average elite kickboxer would do MUCH worse
