Is Character Creator 4 still AWESOME?

I use Blender for some sculpting on Avatars and sometimes have a mouth issue when I send it back to Iclone 8. I found reapplying Face Profile (CC4 Extended) resolves the issue.

I recently got cc4 for myself and while the face and body customization is very nice, the lack of hair and clothing options by default is disturbing. It feels like i am not actually able to make a character at all unless i put in a ton more money after already dropping a lot for the program itself. Are there any free resources for more hair and clothing options for cc4 or are you forced to either spend much more money or use a separate program?

i know character creator 4 and iclone have a way of using physics for hair and clothing and require you to export as an ABC. Alembic file. But can you touch more on this or make a short tutorial. I've tried exporting my hair simulation from iclone to Blender as an Alembic file but it literally just appears as a single vertice. I can't seem to find any tutorials ANYWHERE or exporting your hair simulation from iclone to blender. Theres 1 from reallusion and it feels like they skipped a few steps in the video for no reason. also they only showed cloth being imported to blender, not the hair.

i wish there was solutions for entry-level freelancers who does not have enough income yet to offered to buy a 300 USD application . until we rich a point we make enough to cover this prices . for example : 300 to artists who already have a good income is not a big deal, but if you live the same condition i'm in , its a big price i can't just pay 300 and stay starving the rest of the month if you get what i mean

I have been using Humgen on Blender and have been very curious about Character creator as it lets you push much farther, right into toon characters if you like. This answered a lot of questions I had a bout it. In C4D I was using make Human was was OK, it's strong point for me was the choice in clothing as I make gothic horror animations and Humgen and Character creator are more limited in clothing styles from what I have seen. The price is steep fro me but I will keep it in mind for future. Thanks for being so clear in the video!

no worries mate, I will get back into making more of these videos. I want nothing to do with the character creation process, so this is why this workflow suits me. If I were to pay myself to make a character, there is no way I could make one, let alone the dozens that I have created for this price.

@@Markom3D There is enough to do making your own animations by yourself. Anything that can help you tell the story easier is worth trying and using. It does limit you to use these tools at times but I find limits push you into ideas you would never consider if you had everything your needed when you needed it.

Having worked in CC4, Iclone, Blender, CD4, and Unreal Engine for about 4 years now, I'd say Reallusion is becoming less "awsome". CC4 character (example Kevin) look like cartoons compared to Methumans. I wish it was easy / possible to get CC4 to look as good as Metahumans. The closest Ive come is building out a custom skin shader for Blender and then piping all of the CC4 materials in. A real pain. Another downside for Reallusion is they charge (overcharge) for everything. Might as well go with Maya if your going to spend this kind of $$$.

Since I am across applications, I cannot use meta characters as licesning wise, you cannot export them from UE. I have created quite a few characters using CC4 and I know that there is no chance that I could make one character for that price.

Would be appreciated if Reallusion listed to customers and offered more free content / addon to existing users. I’ve spent major $$$ on CC4, Iclone, and Headshot and I still need to pay for things like Skingen, Mocap, hair, clothing, e.g. What’s worse is I still need to use Blender / Octane to model, sculpt and render because Iclone is subpar for rendering. With Blender, Unreal, Mixamo ,Daz being free why is there a need for Reallusion?

I have used it quite a bit now. The way a look at it, when I purcahsed it a while back, it was $300. I have made 60 characters by now, so that it only $5 per character. I cannot make a character to this level for $5 in time.

its such an awesome software but it barely gets updated and improved... reallusion should prioritize it so that it keeps getting developed like how unreal engine is... iclone is one of the best tools for animating so far...

DO NOT BUY: CC is great. But their EULA for games is broken. You cant use their characters within a character creation system in games. Therefore in my opinion they are not worth it. Only good if you want fixed characters that cant change clothing or hair. (yes they count that is part of character creation so you cant do it legally in the games with CC assets involved). which they cover as a.In-app character generation. (not allowed).

I don’t agree. The upgrade path is outrageous $$$. I was sucked-in to there ecosystem when I didn’t know better. Now my skills are better, and there are plenty of better value propositions out there. I’m out Reallusion.

sorry but AI has come a long way and its making ICLONE a choice now and obsolete in a way. you can go so much further with AI. unless ICLONE implements the same AI into itself...I cannot see it compete.

@@Markom3D im surprised you are asking me about this. i mean they are all over the place. creating multiple voices and also mimicking human behavior of certain individuals and cloning them. Sora for example creates full scenes by just prompts. Iclone needs to do the same and implement AI like this into itself. if AI continues like this, I dont know what 3D applications is going to do. with AI i can tell my comic story much faster.

Demonstrate one example with AI that can do what iClone can do. I've used almost every AI application and none are yet even close to offering the convenience of iClones animation functionality. AI will churn out animation but it certainly cannot compete with hand animating a character in every detail required .
