@darkmyro

😂 this made me laugh I needed that thank you though I also totally agree. Endgame is like the main course of a 6 course meal. You're full. you're happy. You've gotten plenty of good food up till then, not all of it was perfect, but it was a lot and it was satisfying. This one felt like 5 guys and fries, at 12 am. Like you're still getting a lot of food, and it's late night so people are coming from bars so there's more coarse language and sexual jokes going on and , you're still gonna end up satisfied, but there's not as much variety there and the fries and burger might not be the best most cohesive thing, but it still left you with a full belly.

This is a movie that superhero fans, people who have charted the history of the superhero movie, will love. As a film it's OKAY. But for deep fans of this industry and its past, it's a love letter to everything that's come before.

No, you can barely call this a film. It's filled with action, killing random characters no one gives a shit about, hence there's no emotion, Wolverine's backstory is just bare and shallow. Instead of bringing in characters like Omega Red, Silver Samurai, they decide that the best course of action is to use the same character. Ironically the movie has the same fault as The Flash, which comparing D&W to that is sort of blasphemy but too much of one thing is a bad thing.

@@MasoomRana I definitely agree, most of the arguments I've seen in favour of this film are basically related to fan service and humor, which pretty much is all Marvel has been focusing in the latest years. Once you leave that aside the film doesn't have much to offer and it's even more painful that is marketed as a goodbye for the Fox X-Men universe but doesn't feature a single X-Men member cameo aside from Wolverine.

Another criticism I have is the bland visuals. One would expect a more unconventional look to a movie when he's able to address himself being in a movie. Shawn Levy has never been a strong director and it's stated once again with this. They should've gone with Matthew Vaughn (They even already got his cinematographer, George Richmond, for this!). He's got spice for visuals, and he's done R-rated action comedies. Another director I have in mind would Gore Verbinski. Admittedly, he's currently serving "Director's Jail", so it's unlikely. Mr. Reynolds and the rest of the filmmakers should've just seek influences from French and Japanese comedies for inspiration. Master the genre; don't just make fun the conventions, play with them. As to not further be a Debbie Downer, I'll leave a compliment: Hugh Jackman is damn good in this.

I'd argue that this is just one of the more comic bookie comic book movies. By that I mean, it's a major crossover comic book event. There are a lot of characters that enter and exit the stage, all of whom have varying roles and degrees of impact. I would argue that the "cameos" are a whole lot less cameos than people are really aware. There ARE cameos, but theres also a whole lot more minor supporting characters than cameos. Again, its characters entering and exiting stage. Put it like this: we don't think of IW and Endgame as cameo fests... but a lot of the "cameos" in DP & W have as much scenes and screentime as the majority of characters in IW or Endgame.

I found Deadpool 1 and 2 to be like, the most middle of the road perfect split movies maybe I’ve ever seen. They are almost 1:1 ratio of incredibly entertaining and incredibly grating. This might just be me but for the direction they took this one it served the Deadpool gimmick a lot more. I kind of feel like the fourth wall self referential shtick is a little lazy and dull when the punchline is just referencing or acknowledging a random thing, but giving a major focus on the mechanics of specifically the marvel universe this time and having the jokes sort of grounded in that context is just a lot more fun and less “haha random reference” and I liked that. I also think they just commit to the idea so much more than just offhand quip, and it doesn’t feel nearly as eye rolley when they go all in and do things like fight in front of big broken 20th century fox logos and see clips of other marvel films and use it for the storytelling. Not to say everything worked for me, it certainly did not and I felt kind of exhausted by the end of this film, but I did think it was a lot of fun overall. Might go see it again in theaters just to catch anything I missed but overall I probably won’t return to it much similarly to how the first two movies were also kind of one and done for me. I really liked cable and colossus and (maybe this sounds contradictory to the rest of what I’ve said) the less grand-scale celebratory nature of the first two because it makes them a little more standalone dumb fun friendly, to the point where I’d say 2 is still my favorite of the three but they’re all pretty similar overall and I enjoyed my time. Really loved Wolverine here especially since I love the X Men characters and stories and just liked what they did with him and think Deadpool is generally just more interesting when paired with a straight man or ensemble that makes his contrast a part of the joke rather than it being the primary focus. Fun time and I just enjoyed going to the movies with my family so it was well worth the trip
@bksaviorable

I really appreciate this nuanced take. I walked away with a similar feeling of being exhausted by it, all the shtick and fourth wall self referencing just washes over me at a time and becomes dull. That being said i definitely enjoyed a lot of this movie and had some dumb thoughtless fun but by the end I was just tired and underwhelmed.

Something occurred to me when Deadpool meets a certain group of people in the Void. It reminded me of another meta theatrical story, Six Characters in Search of an Author where the characters know they are fictional. The Void is where characters go when they no longer exist in a story, or never had a story, and now they just want their story to end on a high note. I really agree with Paradox using the Deadpool corp as his muscle instead of Cassandra having lied to them about its original purpose. "Boss Man says if we kill you two, he'll use that thing to send us back our original timelines, but fix it so we'll matter". And Wade kind of sees how selfish his original wish was. Idk Im not a script writer, but I do feel that leaving Cassandra in the void after hearing how much charles loved her to do one nice thing would be a fitting send off. Paradox having an army of spin-offs at his command would be very fitting for Disney tbh

The opening bit absolutely landed for 22 year old me. I think that song and choreography is enough of a cultural touchstone for people my age to get it but maybe younger people would not. I think the action in that scene is so fun that people will like it anyway

I had a lot of fun watching the movie but I went with my gf and she's watched most mcu films pre-end game and the first deadpool movie and she kinda had a tough time following along. I think that it was hard for her bc not only did she need mcu background (movies and tv shows), but she also needed to know about the xmen and other fox movies and the real lives of the actors to really cackle along with the rest of us. Not to say Deadpool v Wolverine shouldn't be that specific, but it just makes it a harder movie to see with friends. And I also think that after watching it the first time, the subsequent watchings won't be as fun because you know all the surprises and then you're left with just the story.

This movie (and kind of No Way Home, as well) was kind of a nice little love letter to those of us who grew up as kids with the pre-MCU Marvel movies. Like a, "Hey, we know some of you out there liked this pre/non-MCU stuff when you were growing up, we're gonna give specifically you guys something nice for once." Or it was a cynical attempt to pander to our nostalgia for an easy buck. Or both. All i know is, I had a good time at the theater. And i definitely didn't get choked up watching the credits montage of the old movies' casts behind the scenes footage while the Green Day song played. Nope, the theater was just really dusty...

1:25 There is this notion that we’re over saturated in comic movies. Let’s be clear on this: They tried hard to crack the code since Superman in 1977. Superman 2 was good but plagued with issues. Then the franchise fell off a cliff until 1989 Batman. Then that franchise fell off a cliff. Between 92 & 2008 we had Blade, Spiderman & Batman Begins. But there were also a HOST of crappy one offs where there’s a good guy who gets “powers” and a mirror bad guy who dies at the end. That was every single one of them. I never ever imagined we’d live in a world where FINALLY films have cameos by other comic characters (in their costumes no less!!). And there’s a larger storyline that every film plays into. Did it get ornery after Endgame? YES. Can every film or show be a massive $billion hit? NO!! But I like that IronHeart is going to be a show. That’s perfect for D+. She has fans. Not ‘lead a movie’ fans. But a show? Perfect. Same with Agatha. DP&W is in that space that makes me the most happy: full of characters, referencing other movies & setting up the future while paying homage to the past. I love it.

I just saw the movie this morning with my best friend and we LOVED IT. There were a lot of wonderful cameos, jokes and moments in the film that touched my soul. In an effort to be vague and not spoil the who/what, I will just say the movie spoke to the little kid who grew up watching superhero movies before the MCU was a big deal. The homage is very heartfelt and I think it works with the character arcs in the movie. Please, give us more tie ins like this if they can be weaved into a story naturally! I loved the action and violence in the film. I thought it was the right level of bloody for an R-rated film without feeling over the top or like it was there for shock value. I think there's potential for more gritty comic violence in Marvel movies like this. There were some very creepy/unsettling powers being used that should have been in movies like Doctor Strange. I hope this movie means we can see more Mutants in the future! I miss them so much!

I think there's a giant potential that this movie missed in favor of being something average. Deadpool's fourth wall breaking ability and the TVA's authority and function could've been a set-up to a truly unique conflict. I could picture this movie raising philosophical questions about the multiverse and our place in it, and if it gets too confusing for the audience, Deadpool is there to directly break it down. Now, I'm aware Loki already somewhat did this, but Deadpool is actually aware he's in a movie. It's disappointing that the movie settles the conflict via another and plain "beat the bad guy" matter. *[Spoiler]* It'd also be more personal if Deadpool is only fighting for his timeline, instead of putting the entire multiverse in jeopardy.

*very slight spoiler warning* after watching the movie twice i rewatched the first two X-MEN films when i got home. the scene in X2 when they stole Scott's car to escape the mansion, they briefly turned on the radio and Bye bye bye played for a second, I was legit caught off guard and audibly laughed. I love Deadpool & Wolverine, it's nostalgic (especially its soundtrack) without being somber. This wasn't as big as endgame, but for me, its a bigger deal than end game.

I didn't love it but the A(straight) cinemascore shows I am in the minority, glad people are digging it! I must say i do vastly prefer variants being *our* characters versus *a* deadpool, or *a* [REDACTED], contuining andrew garfield's (the one we know) story is just more compelling than if it was some random spiderman, that's what these multiverse movies CAN miss (but not all obviously, the spiderverses do it this way and still rule it certainly can be done!).
