Aspartame and high fructose corn syrup have both been shown to cross the blood brain barrier and reach the brain, allowing fluoride and heavy metal toxins e.g, aluminium to invade brain tissue. Here it begins hardening the soft tissue, eventually making it useless. Many scientists believe both sweeteners and HFCS could be a major cause of Alzheimers. Even Healthline admit Sucralose has been linked to diabetes, kidney malfunction, leaky gut, bowel degeneration, and many other things. The British Medical Journal (4th largest in the world) and a group of French researchers found that consumption of sucralose was linked to a higher risk of cardiovascular disease, stroke and coronary heart disease.

Also artificial sweeteners alter gut bacteria in humans which produce 90% of the body's serotonin (causal link to depression). I understand the emphasis on fat loss, but I wouldn't be so reductionist for such complex systems as our gut, brain and wider organs. Sweeteners appear to have a causal/physical link to Alzheimers and low serotonin (subsequently increasing SSRI demand).

Even pizza qualifies as "red meat" in some of the studies I've read that sensationally claim that red meat increases the risk of cancer. I think it's fair that some companies waste their money on poorly executed studies, it's their money, but it's baffling to me that many of these studies are being taken seriously by health authorities around the world.

If you're drinking water but fancy a Coke once on a while, choose a Coke Zero, it's fine If you're drinking a lot of Coke, substitute it for Coke Zero. And then try to reduce it, substituting some for water. Coke Zero is better than Coke. Water is Better than Coke Zero. It was in the news a few months ago, right? The WHO issued a warning about it after recent studies showed that artificial sweeteners like aspartame can break down cell walls in the gut allowing substances to enter the cells that would normally pass through the gut harmlessly (I'm paraphrasing from memory here) and it wasn't a carcinogen in of itself, but it made the cells more vulnerable to them, something like that (I have a horrible memory, someone correct me if I got something wrong). I don't drink much soda anyway, but it made me stop putting Splenda Sugarly in my tea and coffee 😂 the upside to that is I just have coffee unsweetened now with a bit of oat milk and I quite like it. Can't abide tea with no sweetness so I use a tsp of actual sugar (gasp) I'm not dead paranoid or strict with the aspartame tbf, I still have it in stuff occasionally but I feel better about not having it several times per day

Thank you. Saccharin was the big artificial sweetener boogieman when I was growing up in the 80's. There was some kind of study that showed that it caused cancer which tanked the product. When people got their hands on the study years later it showed that you had to consume roughly the equivalent of 50 cans of soda every day for 50 years before it was a danger. By then it was too late. I'm not crying over the demise of an artificial sweetener. But, I don't think that we need false data out there either.

I’m not necessarily worried about aspartame being a carcinogen. What I feel you didn’t address is the fact that it has been shown to change the microbiome in small intestine, so that more bacteria that are more efficient at harnessing glucose are present. This means that when you do eventually eat sugar, you will get even more fat. If you look at studies, aspartame causes a higher fasting blood glucose, meaning there could be a risk of making people diabetic. What would you say to this Mr. James Smith?
@DaemonViews

There are indications that it has an impact on the gut biome. But it doesn't for everyone and the research also had a lot of non responders where there was no impact. Like James said, a can of diet coke will not impact you this badly. In the studies the participants where give the maximum doses on a daily basis for a while. There is no solid scientific proof at the moment.

@@odinson2645no he didn't, I like his videos. I just find it kind of ironic that the flat earthers are still used as the nutty example (and they are pretty nutty) but people wearing masks alone in their car is very overlooked in comparison, I actually think the latter is worse. But I get why they are the throwaway comedic example, it is still just odd to me.

Its hard to know who to believe in all this. Yes, aspartame is controversial, but air pollution is also slowly giving us cancer/some people do use diet drinks to control their sugar intake better, so there's that. But also, lobbyists/PR firms paid by Coca Cola, Pepsi etc ARE paying dieticians and influencers....people like James...to play down the risks....which makes it very difficult to know the true extent of what is going on. I'm going to take this one with a huge pinch of salt and continue not to consume aspartame but, like nicotine, its down to people to weigh up the costs and decide for themselves ain't it.

In the nicest way possible. Fuck off. I’ve not done a paid post in my life. Reading shit like that is literally insulting.
@hudamn2297
@hudamn2297 Жыл бұрын
@JamesSmithPT tbf I didn't read that as you having been paid, but rather the status of "influence". On that note, yes, it's literally been proven that people who are dieticians and fitness influencers are getting paid by these food companies (and these companies have a long history of doing stuff like this, formula is nice juicy example of all the dirty stuff they get upto). I've avoided this carcinogen nonsense for as long as I can because nothing irks me like conspiracy theorists. However, because of my background in lactation support, l'm unfortunately far too aware of a lot of the shady business these companies get upto. The point the OP made was very valid and even if maybe not worded properly, still has a point. And side note, the people I know who tend to drink diet drinks are usually people who like to use it as an excuse that they're "trying their best" whilst they stuff they're face with all sorts of other processed junk.. just saying

About a year and a half ago I decided to do a hard switch to zero sugar sodas. Like you mentioned in the video, when I want a soda a glass of water is not going to satiate that desire. Throughout the week I drop anywhere between 850-1000 calories just on not consuming sugary sodas. It is a great way to make a small change in your diet to help make goals while not just giving up what you like.
