Daily Wire's Andrew Klavan speaks at UCLA about diversity of race and culture, vs diversity of thought - two very different concepts, but each an important expression of our American freedoms.

It depends who you are diversifying with. If they are people who excel in Mathematics or the Sciences or are skilled workers, then there is no problem. If they are a people that like raping your children or despise everything you hold dear, then there may be a problem.

FunkyAnimal The Earl of Funkdom I think that's an ineffective way to think about it, as it's better to put skills regardless of race above averages among races.

FunkyAnimal The Earl of Funkdom, diversity? Color doesn't matter... only ideas. I live in Denmark. In our government, we have a former muslim form Syria, who - knows more about the Danish constitution than most Danes. He knows the history better than most....He has lashed out against islam as the evil it is, while the left here embarrassingly defends it for unknown reasons (probably cowardism). HE is a real Dane.

Results were basically mixed. Freedoms in the American context evolved over time. Black slavery was a stumbling block. So the national narrative ended in the Civil War. The Judaeo-Christian basis for our freedoms was invoked a second time after that bloody war. And yet again the ideas of the French Revolution as well as existentialism and other ideologies started to impinge on the unique American concept of freedom.

Can a business deny service because of religion? race? gender? economic status? What are the rules of denying service as he is advocating? Who makes these rules? What is the basis for these rules?
@ryandono57216 жыл бұрын

Tine Woodbe as a private business you should be free to deny service to whoever or whatever you want. And that's just how it works in a free country.
@MyplayLists4Y2Y6 жыл бұрын
Also, what evidence do you have that "Business no. 1,2" will actually go out of business? What is your evidence for this theory? What case studies are you using? What happens if "Business 1,2" don't go out of business? Do we just live in a fragmented society where services and resources are diluted and divided among a potentially unlimited number of segregated sects?
@bradfin126 жыл бұрын
Tine Woodbe you can never force me to make a cake for you. If I cannot refuse to bake a cake to anyone for any reason I am not free I am a slave. If I refuse to make cakes for a large portion of the market I might go out of business or reduce my own profits and increase the profits of my competitors. Jim Crowe laws were there to protect racist business owners from the free market.

"Gay Rights" is utter bullshit. Klavan is wrong and it is incredibly sad that he feels the need to kowtow to the Overton window of sexual libertinism. You could maybe stand indifferent to homosexuality, but to suggest that there is any sort of a right to perform evil is contradictory to the idea of rights. Saying something is a right implies it is a good. Speech is good, we have a right to speak. We can be indifferent to lies and the first amendment means that government can't be trusted to sort out truth. The only sexual right humans have is for a man and a woman to get married. This is because that makes the good of family/children.

I like this guy but he is not right about America or its "exceptionalism". The US has been able to work up to now because it has had such an over-supply of land. That fact has hid a multitude of sins and shortcomings. He tries to suggest people are welcome in the US as long as they sign on to this exceptional idea of freedom the country stands for. I'm sorry to say that's bollocks. That's not what the US did and its not why it let these people in. There are very few countries on earth that ghettoise people like the US does. The UK despite it being in his view a "racial construct", also complete bollocks by the way, has never sought to ghettoise its immigrants at all in the way the US has, never. In fact the government does all it can to disperse. In fact the US has always been far more race conscious than countries like the UK up to the point our criminal politicians tried to mimic criminally myopic US immigration policy. Its only now we're are seeing a convergence. Its only now we are seeing the stupidity the US has displayed over its immigration policy for centuries really start to eat away at the Western civilisation America owes everything to. The real story is this idea of freedom which the British people bequeathed to America as it did to its own descendants, not what America exported to the world. Now as the world changes it is this idea that is really under attack by the political classes in both countries (and across the wider Western world) against the same group .....its own citizens. You can respect the political structures all you want my dear Andrew, but what you cannot get away from is if citizens are meant to be the sole arbiters regarding who governs them, THEY MUST BE THE SOLE ARBITERS ON WHO JOINS THEM IN MAKING THAT CHOICE. The West is being destroyed because politicians realised the croc of shit the US example which has been sold to the world really is and how it could be used to return them to power by the age old tactic of divide and rule. The US is not democratic in nature, constitutional republic or not, not at all. Immigration policy, because it is in the hands of the politicians is criminal, it can be no other way. The bragging that the US does about how diverse it is, how wonderfully that diversity has played into the exceptional status America has obtained to date hides an incontrovertible fact. The entire system seeks to sideline the citizen at every turn on matters of political importance just as in every country from Right wing dictatorship, to Communist dictatorship and everything in between. For ALL elections are fake when the citizens are not in sole control of their own membership. You might want to mention that in your speeches for that is the beginning of all freedom and we British have been fighting that fight before the US was even a glint in George Washington's eye.
@marvalice3455 Жыл бұрын
Ghettoism is not imposed top down. People want to live with those who share their values. The result of this desire is ghettos. Because people would rather live in a bad neighborhood with people who share their values than in a "good" neighborhood with people who think their values are nonsense. This means that all throughout history, in all nations great and small, immigrants move into isolated communities. The only exceptions are when a nation becomes isolationist so that there aren't enough immigrants to form a ghetto, or is people are not given a choice of were to live. There's really no third option

I just have a couple things to say on the topic of "diversity" in general. #1 Yes. " iron sharpens iron" , Solomon's wisdom from God, tells us. We can and should learn and grow by not being in either isolation or an echo chamber, while yet "testing every Spirit, whether they be of God" . #2: Diversity of plant life and animal presence, is known to be a sign of good health of the ecology, in permaculture and regen ag circles, & I believe they're right. BUT. BUT. This diversity is a RESULT OF healthy soil, healthy management, not the cause of it exactly, although polyculture does effect some, as well. For ex., going from the current conventional ag model of GIANT monoculture fields of tilled (&/or often sprayed with poisons) dying soil, to organically treated, less or no-tilled, smaller &/or polyculture fields with polyculture borders (intentionally planted beneficial hedgerows or just allowed to grow wild tree-lines and borders), brings us back from the extreme of monoculture, but doesn't actively PLANT all the diversity of plant and animal and soil life we hope to eventually see, and which are signs of a thriving ecosystem. Instead, we manage well, and let them come in, and co-exist, at will. Like Permaculture master, Geoff Lawton's farm in NSW, AU. He has a lot of cane frogs there, which are supposed to be invasive and definitely a serious threat to other frog species, killing them off. Yet on Geoff's farm, they are co-existing alright, last I knew (I would like an update). So, hopefully some food for thought and prayer here for someone, I hope.
