Here are some more video suggestions while im at it: *Sudden lesbians- one can argue that Fiona and Zoe's coming out storylines practically came out of nowhere and had nothing to do with their characters. Or maybe the seeds have been planted just really subtly... seems interesting to explore. *The dynamic of Katie and Marisol- Katie was the mean girl, but Marisol was her puppetmaster... until they just threw away that really interesting and realistic dynamic and made Marisol just "the best friend". And that ties into my next one- *Degrassi's black girls- Hazel, Chantay, Shay, Marisol, their storylines or rather lack thereof. I just love hearing you talk about anything related to Degrassi, hope any of these peaked your intrest.

I actually intend to touch on that last point in my next video. Maybe I was the only one, but I felt Fiona was clearly not straight from the get go. Thanks for bringing it up. Maybe I'll need to give my thoughts on it.

NotAVampyre maybe not in season 9, but in season 10 I could see how it can go there after she started liking Adam. You can even say season 9 because she dated Riley to hide his gayness, but I don't know... it was more apparent later.

I'd say even season 9 it was clear. Perhaps not necessarily that she was gay, but she clearly had no interest in a physical relationship with men. That's why she and Riley got together. He wanted to hide that he was gay while not having to be physical with a woman, and she wanted men to stop bothering her without the things that typically go with a romantic relationship. Fiona didn't even know Riley was gay and only broke up with him when he tried to up his "straight act" and show the guys at school that they do sexual things.

NotAVampyre Hmmm... that makes sense. But you can also argue that it's not that she wasn't interested in men, it's that she wasn't interested in Degrassi men. She was all stuck up and snobbish in season 9 and just wanted to be left alone until she's back in New York where the real people are, so she stuck with Riley who was her best choice for the moment- he'll make sure no one bothers her while not wanting to touch her himself. Only later in season 10 the writers decided that yep, she's gay. Plus she totally had a crush on her brother that I wish was explored further. The great thing about this, though, is that you can totally see it both way and it still works. I can believe that she was gay in season 9 , too. With Zoe's case, on the other hand, it's a bit more difficult for me. I mean, I can make sense of it, I can see the logic of "oh she WAS", but I can't shake the feeling that it's a late addition to her character.

The thing with her brother I always saw as not serious lust/attraction for him, but fear of losing him to Holly J. Unlike with his other romantic encounters, Declan was serious about her and it made Fiona feel threatened as she relied on him for everything at that point. I think there's also cause to believe she wasn't interested in men because she never had a real boyfriend before Bobby as Declan himself points out. And at that point in the show, Fiona was trying to act normal. Stop causing problems. Part of her plan to be normal could've been getting into a "normal" relationship for a girl her age.'' I agree with you again, i dont think Emma is a hypocrite. I also agree that Emma and Clare are very similar and with most degrassi fans their flaws are usually pointed out more than the good. I think this is because they were the defacto main characters of the show when they were on and both came from similar paths when they got on the show like how smart they were, how judgemental they could be at times, their high and mighty personality, and uptight nature.

I Emma but she can be self-righteous. With Jay, that was definitely being messed up from PTSD. There really isn't a defence for dating Peter. She also accused Manny of dating the enemy after JT's death, when Damian was guilt by association (I know Emma was grieving but it still wasn't fair to Manny).

To be honest, I actually found Emma more likeable in the earlier seasons than her later ones. At least at the start she had her own opinions, and was quite a unique character, and I really liked that she cared about more than just the usual high school dramas. I feel like later on she became a lot more boring because the show cared more about turning her into someone they could put into relationship dramas than about developing and being consistent with who she was as a character. (Though I haven't watched all of her later seasons yet so I can't judge for sure! That's just the vibe I get)

I'll never understand what fans like or don't like. If a character is too perfect they're considered annoying but if they mess up they'll get criticized. It is teen drama right? So that's what it is a drama. And teenagers. I don't know.

yeah she was kind of the worst for the longest time. She and Clare are similar that way. I have a suggestion for a video- if you have something to say about her, than can you please talk about Holly J? I find that people tend to forget about her, and she was kind of a big deal on the show for some time. I remember loving her as the mean girl and loving her as this girl-power character. Also she and Sav were great and they get a lot of hate.

I actually really enjoyed them as a couple. He came in at a really good time for her, she needed a nice sweet guy after Declan and was all like "fuck it im just gonna go for it" and he was like "oh ok cool". And I could totally see why he actually fell for her, she completly owned everything she did by that point. And the fact that it was doomed from the start (if I remember correctly they agreed to end it right from the get go) made the realtionship even more interesting in my eyes.

Yes, please make a vid about Holly J! She’s definitely one of my fav Degrassi characters. Her growth is great! And it’s interesting how the guys she is interested in represent parts of her. When she had a crush on Spinner, it was because he saw a certain side of her that her classmates didn’t see, I noticed he called her “J”. While in the same season there was Blue who saw something else in Holly J, and he called her “Holly”. Neither guy was right for her because they were not able to see/accept all of her. I don’t think the nickname thing was a coincidence.

I’m really digging your vids. Accidentally stumbled across the wheels vids and while the video was great, it was pretty depressing. I didn’t think I would be back, but then these Emma vids popped up and i couldn’t resist. I’ve been conflicted about Emma over the last year and a half. She and Sean were my favorites as individuals and as a couple when I was younger, but now that I’m older, I see all of her flaws and it’s just so eye-opening. Of course I could never understand her desire for Peter and it turned me off to the character, but also I felt she tried too hard to fit in with the whole “Blaze” stuff although it was kinda funny. Another thing that I never paid much attention to was how awful she was to Liberty during the Chris. There’s a lot of other small moments that people have been pointing out where I understand where people might be turned off to the character. I appreciate these honest examinations. It nice to hear an opinion that is not biased one way or another sometimes

Yeah, I try not to be overly depressing, but I tend to go hard on the less happy parts of the show too. I'm glad you've stuck around though! Emma is....human. She's cringe and based, basically at any given time can be awesome or questionably reasoned. Like all of us, she's neither all good or all bad, and she's well written enough that some parts of her may be a major turn off for some, which is understandable. We weren't created to like everyone we encounter.

NotAVampyre I hate Peter and Emma because Peter and Emma just dont look good with one another. Peter had this subtle mysoginistic attitude towards Emma and he only went after her cuz she was a “major catch” and Manny rejected him. But honestly I blame Emma more for letting this awful pairing even happen. Peter was a year younger and a bit of an immature pervert. Emma kept giving him a pass for all his indiscretions and for real WHO DATES A GUY WHO SENT CHILD PORN OF YOUR BFF TO THE WHOLE SCHOOl!

I didnt mind the Jay thing because it was clear she was fucked up in the head. And Jay was cheating on Alex with practically everyone. But Emma and Peter I don’t care that relationship made my skin crawl and just yuck. Who dates a fuckin pervert who sent topless video of your best friend to the whole school. Their was no love no chemistry just nothing with their relationship its by far their worst even though I hate anyone Emma dated who wasnt Sean they just dont work. I feel Emma didnt need Peter he should have gotten expelled thats what a good principle would do. After that maybe the anerexia story could have been centered around Emma catching Snake cheat on Spike. And her bottling everything cuz she’s worried if she says anything the family will get torn up.

I think you should do a video about what characters we/you would like to see from Degrassi. I would love to see an extremely conservative religious gay character from the show― basically, a gay guy version of Becky Baker who is oblivious to what many in the LGBT community go through. People don't really realize how many guys like this there actually are and it would be interesting to see how they use a character like this and how others interact with him.

Might add it because it halfway shocks me that such folk exist. (I say halfway because I had a friend from school who was a trans Christian who legit believed women should be subservient to their husbands).
